I am rather skeptical about their safety levels of China made vehicles especially after the China CNG bus explosion years back in Singapore and watching the EUROCAP tests on China cars on their safety standards. Somehow their vehicles are far from good safety and comfort levels.
I still prefer Japanese buses for private operators. And I don't have a good impression of the China bus demonstrators from SBST and SMRT.

Look at the previous trend as well. Most of the MK3s were replaced by MK4s and K230UBs, so SBS Transit seems to have a special reason to buy the Citaros.
Late purchase doesn't mean it doesn't represent the replacements. There are more likely reasons for the delay, like extension of lifespan for certain buses, awaiting for the legistration rule of purchasing LF buses only before deciding acquiring the fleet, in this case, SBST chooses Citaros.
I suggest if you don't know anything, stop spreading nonsense.
The thing is govt was also slowly extending the lifespan of buses but on condition they've to be refurb...

I agree China buses are DANGEROUS AND UNCOMFORTABLE, SBS must buy new Euro VI Citaros not shitty crap like King long or heng tong!!!!!!!
According to King Long UK (http://www.kinglonguk.com/pdf/brochure/kl6121fullglossy.pdf), the XMQ6121G is using a 280HP Euro IV Cummins engine....

those RapidKL King Longs are using Gemilang body, right? Exactly the same as our KUBs?

then the KUB should be purchased in 2005 right to replace all the merc/MK2/scania etc... if you dunno then just SHUT UP instead.. dun act till you know everything.....

HA HA HA get stuck bad start for the new bus, is the driver know that the bus is too long to enter the station? by the way SBST have another 2 China made buses runing in jurong east area in use for service 334. both of them is semi electric bus like toyoda prius car. I think is the same brand King Longs. I remember somebody here not long ago said King longs bus is a good bus??????

I was indirectly referring to 'even if the rego is registered'.

Source number 2:
Compare the fleet of services with the MK2s/N113CRBs/O405s and their fleet now (1), as well as the fleet of services with MK3s and their fleet now (2), to see whether there were K230UBs in the fleet for (1), or Citaros in the fleet for (2).

Yes. The XMQ6121Gs of RapidKL are fitted with Gemilang Coachwork bodies that are similar to our K230UBs. The chassis are probably the first that were not fitted with King Long bodies.
Originally posted by Bus Stopping:It might not be so, as this demonstrator comes with ZF suspension and axles. As far as i know those in RapidKL are not.
It is not the suspension or axles that I'm concerned with. It's the engines that are loud from Day One and how it shook the whole bus much worse than the KUBs.

I see, i have taken the taiwanese 6121g with uk made cummins engines and they are pretty ok most of the time except when the driver drags the gears (due to manual transmission). No idea about the RapidKL ones, but hope that this demo unit has a uk engine ala the yutong.
...a recent trip to kl, joyride ard city centre, manage to board a rapidkl 6121 (gemilang bodied), the sound of the engine quite loud, vibration quite strong, when the bus accelerates, can hear the engine roar vry loudly....though aft many rides over there, i prefered their MAN 18.280HOCLNL, vry silent engine & awesome pick up. hopefully dis sbst one gt 'silencer' LOL ...nt sure even if an engine silencer exists xp
Awww here we go again..Not another china piece of shit!! Didnt expect at all that this would really happen again..Hope this bus ends up like the sbst OC demo.

So we must email to SBS and tell them to get more world class bus like Euro VI Citaros not some stupid Chinese shit!!!!

Cheap doesn't goes with reliable, durable, comfortable, fuel saving.
If it really is true, that SBS strikes lottery.
how long is the bus again?

11.95m.

Slightly shorter than K230UB, Sunlong Hybird and B7RLE. Same length as a citaro.

Problem is they are not. Cheap doesn't mean they are safe, realiable and durable. I don't find them comfortable and saving fuel, in this case, using Cummis engine.
China bus manufacturers don't focus a lot on double deckers, but more on bendy buses. Probably it is more applicable to SMRTB.
