50 seems to have a better loading these days along Fernvale.
Whereas for 163's side, the number of DDs appearing on weekends had been reduced ever since 50 came in. Sometimes full SD fleet.
I wonder if the number of runs for 163M will be reduced or not. It doesn't seems to serve any purpose during weekends at all.
Sv50 is cannibalizing Sv372 (at Sengkang MRT bus stop) and Sv163 (along Sengkang East Way).

s50 provides relief to many services
88, 159 from AMK MRT to AMK Ave 5
163 along Sengkang West Ave
372 along Senkang East Way (towards Compass Point)
119 along Sengkang East Way (from Compass Point)
I have observed 163's loading for the past few weeks. It didnt seem to be affected very much by the introduction of Service 50.
More often than not, both 50 and 163 will be almost 80-90% full at fernvale and sengkang west area during peak hours.
However for weekends, due to the absence of working adults and also secondary school kids, the number of DDs for 163 has been observed to be reduced.
50's DDs are not utilised well as well.
50 is more like a school bus actually.
With that said, the conclusion is, Sengkang West and Fernvale definitely deserves more bus services other than 50 and 163.

More of 163M along Sengkang East Way.
Just took 159 this afternoon at amk hub and it doesnt really help much in the loading despite it using the older DM. The bus is as crowded as before 50 was introduced.
maybe sbst should have 159M from AMK hub to sangkang using DDs buses
extend 50 to whampo area use toa payoh rise will be better
Since this service is supposed to take some load off 159 in the morning for AMK ITE students in the morning at the Sengkang Central area, why is the frequency so bad in the morning peak hours(roughly 14-15 mins per bus when 159 can be as fast as about 6 mins per bus)? And adding more trips for 159A just makes it look like there's no need for so many DDs for 50.....

Unfortunately, there's no way for a DD for 159 due to space constraints...

not space constraints, it high constraints at CTE junction along braddell road. 159M can terminated at AMK hub that should not a problem. not 159. so the driver who drive the 159M DD bus should be just drive on service 159M.

159M should ply every 10 mins from AMK Hub and 159 can ply every 15 mins. s159 has many alternatives so the route is not packed between Lor Chuan and Toa Payoh.
Toa Payoh to Bradell Bus Park - 73, 105, 153, 155, 159 (5 options)
to Lor Chuan - 73, 105, 159 (3 options)
Also the route from SGK to TPH is DD friendly. It is on the return that it is not after Comfort Del stop.
Highly support for DDs from AMK Hub to SGK. This is the main loading for the bus anyway.

Perhaps u send to SBST?
actually all LTA to do is to remove 159 along lor chuan and should not introduce service 50 at all. maybe a new feeder service introduce in the area seng kang west to where 50 now serve. extend 159 to punggol. service 50 is a example where politics come into play. PAP just throw tax payers money away.
Some buses need to atleast ply Lor Chuan, I think ammend 105/159 to ply CTE instead and leave 73 behind on its own, but links will kenna chop again...

159 used to ply CTE before it was amended to ply Lorong Chuan.
Maybe do something like one direction ply Lorong Chuan (towards Braddell Road), the other direction ply CTE after Braddell Road, since only the portion of Lor Chuan after Braddell Rd is DD inaccessible?
159 under Amdep last time got less problems.Probably there's something to do with new citizen and PRs living along its route also.Svc 50 definitely will have its fleet revised soon.

What kind of fleet revision? Right now it has 10 B9TLs and 5 Citaros.

We wouldn't know if swap 1 Citaro for 1 Wright?Or runtime revise?
In any case, the launch of service 50 can be considered successful after 1 month of evaluation since the overall load for the past 1 month is good.....
Though the bus route could use an extension to areas close to the south/west...but any extension like that will cause the route to be too long & time consuming since going from Punggol to Bishan already takes about an hour.....

Yea maybe a service that plies/terminates at areas close to the south or west will be good, since SK west & Fernvale currently lacks this connectivity, although the existence of the North East Line seems to already cut out this possible option.
anyone seen me on it just now?

yeah! the bus driver!! :P
service should be terminated at Whampo terminal or loop at rochor road like 23, that is the best as the area it serve is very popular for people along the way service can use toa payoh rise has circle line and NS line. Punggol need driect bus service to these area.
