DDs for 804, 806, 901and 911. 912 and 913 mixed.
Only 3 out of the 12 packages is tendered while the other 9 still in under the incumbents control for another 5 years till their BOL expired in 2022,Meaning SMRT might buy another few batch of A24s for their feeders and Intratowns. In future you will not see their feeders with full bendy fleet anymore because LTA will introduce bus service that run parrallel with those heavy loadings feeders and intratowns.Service like 912 all will tio 60% bendy 40% A22s and a new short trunk DD service will cover their heavy sector loadings

I dont think there will be another bendy order. SMRT will just move to DDs :(
Hopefully they will, like mentioned, just another 40 will be enough(if all 3 areas are under SMRT).
And since LTA introduced that much svc, should make it a rule such that there will be a cap. limit of 20 passengers allowed to stand for SD/DD, 35 for Bendy.
I am pretty sure there will be another order most probably doesnt exceed 50 units.
Judging from the term "Common models" introduced by operators, it seems like they are just to..
- Reduced maintenance time ; no special attention needed to make the bus better, but just make it work.
- Cut-down of $$ ; not needed to spend much just to cater the crowd
- Easier to get parts
- Commuters won't be comparing ; one lousy = everything lousy
Which brings me to compare with HKs..
their one depot can have many different models/series..but the maintenance standard is there.
They(maintenance crew) have different things to work on each day, means it's not a "daily chore".Also means that there won't be "shortcuts"
But generally the main steps are similar.
Hongkong technicians are different from us,Our technicians is not only locals but foreigners suchs as PRCs also have..

It's not about technicians... Even in China there can also be many different models managed by each operator.

they're increasingly standardizing their fleet to only buses from ADL and Volvo. Even if there are variants, its only in length. Hardly a diference when it comes to maintaining the bus.
At least, from what I feel, maintaining the bus won't be boring. It gives the technicians the sense of "I'm knowledgable", with different varieties(bus parts) to explore around.
If there's hardly any difference, it might seems to them as a daily chore. Overtime, some might find it "sianz" and there might be more "shortcuts"..
Similarly for bus drivers..

Agreed... another point is, once the fleet is standardised, if there's a limitation in a model, it will affect every single bus.
In my opinion, before any mass purchases, the possible models for procurement should be evaluated, based on their price to performance ratio, fuel economy, emissions, maintenance and overall capacity etc, and then go for the best deal, probably like what SBS Transit and SMRT Buses are doing right now.
However, it is also important to have a smaller fleet of competing models, for benchmarking against the mass ordered fleet (sometimes what looks best on paper might not be the best after a few years). This is something that LTA could consider when doing tenders for future bus purchases.
So dangerous! Saw a bus fan from serangoon sec sch in his sch uniform snapping a DM3500 on 113 while in the middle of the road..
He was flagging for the bus to stop while OPPOSITE the bus stop for the bus driver to stop then snap pic and run across and board the bus.
BC was kind enough not to reprimand him even though he saw him snapping pic of his bus before running to board the bus.

Not isloated incident, ever spotted young jaywalkers outside Bishan Int just to snap pics, so dangerous if the driver happens not to brake in time
I always take photos of buses, usually at the last row

Yup.. I not sure about 864 route following 70's... What I remember was it passes through Upp Paya Lebar Road...

864 continues along Paya Lebar Rd after Geylang East Central and then turns to/from Sims Ave/Geylang Rd instead until it meets with 84 again after Sims Ave/Geylang Rd & Aljunied Rd junction. 70 just goes straight to Guillemard Rd after Sims Ave/Geylang Rd junction.
