I went to take Service 118 at Punggol on the first day. I was expecting one of the newly-registered Wrights. But the bus that arrived was a perm 43 Citaro. SBS6725D
Useful Bus Abbreviations and Acronyms has been updated.
Does anyone know how the numbering system works for new services?
For instance, why is the first feeder in Punggol # 386 and not 381? And why is 2nd feeder as 382?
How are these numbers so random?
Likewise, when they selected 41... 49 can still be understood as 51 is ther at JE, but 41?

No idea. Could have been some fortune-telling backgrounds?
SMRT's scheme is even weirder. 868 (not even 868E), 882 and 990 came out of nowhere. 850E, 951E, 971E and 982E are strange, but somewhat understandable. 700 and 825 are loners stranded in no-buses' land.

868: This was introduced before those express services ending with "E", so still okay. Maybe last time SMRT wanted to use 86x for Bukit Batok, until 860 kicked in.
882: weird.
990: This is the first trunk in Bukit Batok with SMRT number (not counting 868 since 860x already taken with 860) , so need to come up with new numbers..

Hypothesis 1: LTA planned out 381, 383, 384, 385 and maybe a few more. They just introduced 386 and 382 first.
Hypothesis
2: 38x was once used for Eunos feeders (before 382 merged with 63 and 385 became 60). Hence they started from 386 for Punggol so that 380-385 are still reserved for Eunos. But after a while they found out there's no point for this, so they just used the entire 38x series for Punggol.

Hi mr array88, thd 2nd hypothesis looks more probable. Cheers. Thanks.
Onboard Wright on 117...upon reaching Sembawang Stn...
Just realize the taxi stand before bus stop have a Max. Height of 4.2m...Wonder if the DD will hit the yellow bar if the driver suddenly turn into the taxi bay to avoid something? O_o

That happened to SBS7676E some time ago where it crashed into the taxi stand at Vivocity.

They should just make uniform height of 4.5m for all taxi stand.

Not sure I agree with both (1) and (2). For (1) they need to be super good to have done planning so much in advance, and why not start planning from area that is first getting developed, if you know what I mean.
For (2), again why would they choose 382 and not 381 in that case!?!?
These are my 2 guesses
(1) They have 5-6 route planners maybe, and each is given a task to come up with its own route, and each gets a number to pick. The route that is most viable and voted the best is finally chosen. Possible!?!
(2) Numerology... hahaha
Is there a reason as to why SMRT never updated the Town Map boards at all its bus interchanges, nor included passing-by or terminating services from SBST?
(That being said, the route guide on 990 has still not appeared on the display boards at Bt Batok. Despite its service guides and appearance on the e-display boards.)

Sometimes SBST also doesn't update in time, althouth they do more frequently than SMRT.
All TIBS black fabric seats have been changed to the current mainstream Blue x Red x Purple seats..
I am sure svc 117 load will improve in a month's time..
Svc 47 fleet is too much for its routings..118 no comments but definately will improve.
LTA should consider making svc 926 and 981 run full days too..Off peak can adjust freq between 16-20mins per bus.
Went to JB on New Year...saw at least 2 A22s parking at JB Custom..one displaying 950 another on Off Svc...(8pm+ towards JB), with 284H on 950 at the opposite(to Wdl)..
Is 117 generally slow? Feel lethargic travelling on this bus for full trip from Punggol to SBW. Yishun Ave 1 that whole stretch can take like 15 mins to clear and i believe that bus stopped for around 10 stops throughout its trip

Hi mr TIB585L, it stopped 7 bus stops along yishun ave 1. Take about 10 min. Cheers. Thanks.
Standard procedure mah,If ridership increased and the freq adjusted do you think the BCs still wanna waste time enter empty bus stops? Its aint easy to be BCs in Sg mind you,You have to take care of demanding and unreasonable pax, selfish road users,To make it worse SBST new buses acceleration power is so poor..

I am waiting for a SMRT svc to ply SBST territories like Toa Payoh,St Mikes or even Tuas.
