Neither, not even close to Pioneer. I gave up all hope when I knew who is going to take over the bus services next month. That was the time I knew it's time to get a driving license or walk.
You be suprised on who is bidding for Seletar package.
Originally posted by gekpohboy:Actually, it depends. I will look into the suggestion/request made and review the related data (e.g. bus loading) to see if it is really the case.
If it is really the case, I will accept it and work on it.
Otherwise, I will reject him in a kind manner. I would explain to him why his suggestions are not feasible.
If this person keeps making the same suggestion/request even after I reject it, it is considered harassment/nuisance.
If this is at personal level, I can apply for protection from that person, as he is harassing me.
If this is at organisation level, I can ban him from commenting and block his emails from coming in.
Simple.
If you are a newbie planner, that's a decent answer.
Let's try something harder. Assume that every post the 179A lobbyist writes on Facebook is each separate email sent to LTA or/and SBS Transit.
Ignore whatever allegations he thinks is happening behind the scenes, and assume that every fact about bus arrival is factually correct (i.e. when he said the bus did not arrive for 25 mins, it did in fact not arrive for 25 mins).
If you are the bus planner, what would be do with 179, 179A, 170, 170A, 151, 241, 241A, 255?
Now, let's throw in a fictional scenario to increase the difficulty further: a fellow lobbyist in Pioneer is irate at 179/A having too many buses, thinking it came at an expense of his own service (e.g. 181/241/242).
How do you appease the two lobbyists?

Nothing surprises me anymore. If it really comes down to that, I'd rather take the MRT, Grab, Uber or drive if necessary.

Simple.
Let numbers do the talking; show him the data.
Let him know roughly how is the loading like per hour, during the time period of concern. Let him know the capacity of the bus services (pax/hr).
I have been writing "pax/hr" quite a number of times that I am tired already...
Well, just show him the numbers, then he will have nothing to say but to only accept it. :)
Okay. Enough.

sgbuses, I really want to ask, why you so negative (pessimistic) about GCM? Look at the bright side. We are having the best from all around the world! Yay. :D
We have Australian "flavour" and British "flavour" coming in. Really looking forward to having "flavours" from other countries like Korea, Japan, America, India, Thailand, etcetera. Ooishi. :)

Let's assume the 179A lobbyist does not believe you because you have not dealt with his complaints: his buses are not showing up on time.
Neither does the other lobbyist believe you.
What would you do?
Having new foreign company run the show doesnt mean its change the whole situation,Its either for the good or becoming more worse..What they do in Europe doesnt mean can become the same thing in Singapore.

Because I have lived in Perth, experienced their GCM and know what is exactly happening. LTA is adopting the Perth/WA model almost wholesale. And the very same bus operator is going to run the show.
The 179A lobbyist will ragequit if he were to be studying in UWA and tasted what GCM in Perth is like. People here are already being very nice to him by Perth's standards.

Singapore is not Australia. :)

They are bringing their "best practices" here, including the concept of timed stops:

On top of that there is the spreadover buses which a pool of standby BC will come in if certain service is badly stuck at jams.
Don't take my word for it, have a look what others are saying about Transperth:

Some practices are less acceptable in Singapore than others:
"4.1 We always try to run reliable services. Sometimes buses and
Underground trains cannot be run at the times or frequencies or to
destinations advertised for reasons beyond our control or that of our
contractors. We reserve the right to change timetables and bus routes and
to stop Underground trains from running to a particular station without
giving notice beforehand. We will only do this for good reasons and, if it
happens, we will do our best to tell you why."

The official end of SBS2888T yest..
301 should get a fleet add. Runtime is too tight contrary to other BSEP services. Frequency is supposed to be 07 mins, but usually ends up being 09-10 mins or shorter rest time for BCs.
5 buses is quite too little especially after the Keat Hong loop.
300 on the other hand can have 1 fleet reduction. 8 buses should be good enough. Currently operating at 03-04 mins frequency.

Agreed,301 should have 1 additional split duty while 300 can reduce 1 split.
