Like it or not, 12m buses will still be mainstay of buses. SBS has more Citaros left that have yet to be delivered than SMRT's A22s. The main concern any bus company and authority would have with high capacity buses is wastage of resources during off peak, plus the fact that you need to maintain off peak frequencies. With the contracting model, LTA will like to seek lower costs, and 12m single decks are key to that.

You do not need 2000+ fking SDs to do that!!!
They are more of introducing more ERPs to reduce cars, and increase the no. of buses. But sadly, the size of the interchange is getting smaller...with only 1 entrance/exit.
2x 12m bus = 1x DD = 1x Bendy
They also want to create more jobs for this industry..so it's either less buses, more higher capacity buses OR more buses, lesser higher capacity buses.

No LTA will reduce COE to reduce cars on the road but will also reduce buses also as the new MRT systems coming soon. that why LTA going look for more people to work on MRT. 12 m bus is nice for inter connecting MRT stations by the time all new MRT lines is up. cars will never be reduce on the roads as rich people will get richers and smarter.

These are all BSEP buses, SMRT hasn't had any of their own A22s for 10 months. Maybe LTA sees more need for A22s than you do.

SMRT have been holding back of buying HC buses for the past few years....trying to save cost (as their bus operations have been losing money)... even for E500, i think it was forced to buy.... even 100 E500 is not enough...
imagine if SBST is to operate SMRT services, u will see full fleet DD on 190/856/972/180/857/969/966/963/188/960/67 and majority DD on 851/854/187

Agreed,There is no reason for them to spammed so many A22 for their high loading service either.The loss got to do with their dead mileage usage.Use for NR/Chartered and other misc use.Look how ridiculous svc 187 is.
The no.332 MAN A22 chassis is currently reserved for some purpose. It'll not be sent to GML for bodywork assembly anytime soon...

might as well give SMRT SG plated B9TLs if they continue to be refuseniks in purchasing HC buses. You don't think routes like 169 172 187 190 969 need more HCs? The limiting factor is the amount of HC buses and there's not a single thing they are doing about it, as far as I can see. There is some truth to claims that if routes like the ones above were under SBST, they would have a near-full DD fleet.

Not that I giving him Citaros, but it's that there'll be no SG Wrights for SMRT yet. Currently only a batch of SG Citaros are slated for SMRT...
