Visitors to the NEC will have seen the new Wrightbus Gemini 3 double decker on the B5LH chassis on Volvo’s stand. Christened the ‘dream decker’ it has Volvo’s 5.1-litre, four cylinder D5K engine and ZF Ecolife transmission.
Visually what immediately sets it apart from the earlier generation Gemini is the shallower top deck windows and the thoroughly restyled and far more rounded rear styling. The front is new too, though it is recognisably an evolved Wrightbus product.

look at the picture nice look bus----it is Mercedes-Benz/Daimler powered using the OM934. This is a 5.1-litre four cylinder unit which develops 228hp (170kW) at 2,200rpm and peak torque of 900Nm at 1,400rpm mounted longitudinally within a demountable skid for ease of maintenance. So the new Gemini 3 is a merc double decker bus instead of volvo one.
no wonder sbst DD wright DD buses all volvos. wright company use volvo chassis all the time.

Thats a 2 axles non aircon DD..Can you imagine adding a aircon unit with our hot climate,60kmh limiter? The puny 5.1litre turbo 4 cylinders sure stress..Even HK Enviro400 using same engine as the 3axles one,Their Volvo B9TL 2 axles also using the 310hp engine version.

this bus just a demo come out somewhere this year. but if SBST or SMRT want i am sure there will be a more powerful version with 3 axles or 2 axles. But it is the body that is the new design by wright. Still it is a Mercedes-Benz/Daimler powered bus.

Volvo offers the B5RLE Hybrid using a 5-litre engine.
However, the D8K Euro VI engine seems to be a better candidate for Singapore and Hong Kong.
OM936 should be familiar to everyone...it is currently offered for the Citaro C2.
i think the DD white bus people talking about might be true a Mercedes-Benz/Daimler powered bus. but not for singapore market or is it? might see a citaro DD bus soon??
Been a while since SBST experimented DDs on a service that does not have them.
Last year Q3 it suddenly fancied experimenting DDs on lot of services like 101, 125, 243G, 293. Even tried on 228 but soon realized that DDs were not needed on this service.
This year it has rather been bleak with no non-DD services getting DDs.
I think only once SMRT DDs come, we will see some fleet changes with SMRT services.
Spotted SBS3781K along Bedok North Road; prolly heading to BNDEP.

Because many of their older double-deck buses are retiring, so the recently-registered DDs has to go towards fleet replacement. Moreover, BSEP is alr pulling behind the no. of DDs they can use for fleet replacement, thus the VO3x Batch 1s have to be extended for an additional 6 months to a year.

I do have the same state of doubt as you...back in late 2011 I also wondered why the newer Wrights have LECIP EDS, but I came to learn that they are nice as well...now that the newer Wrights introduced in 2014 had gotten back Hanover, I suddenly miss the LECIP EDS for newer Wrights in the same way I missed the Hanover EDS and wish they were fitted on LF Wrights back in 2011-2012...

obviously because LECIP has too many problems, like duh. If not why use LECIP no problem go change back Hanover?

Heh heh heh...base on your logic, the model of EDS on Wrights changed from Hanover to LECIP, then this time round why didn't the model of EDS change to other brands other than Hanover?

Maybe LECIP cheaper leh? Or LECIP closer Hanover EDS proven itself, LECIP having problems, so SBS go back Hanover, isn't that logical.
LECIP has bigger route details and number on EDS and has a brighter colour, thus easier to see, probably why they used LECIP. However, I think they found out that Hanover EDS is not as problematic as LECIP... Maybe, that's why we see Hanover EDS back... ZF may also make a comeback if seen in a simlar way by SBS Transit.
Hanover is more expensive, but yeah it's more reliable... After all you pay for what you get.
The old font is actually as good as the current LECIP font, but ever since the new Hanover font was used the numbers at the back slimmed down a lot...
