When I went to observe 324, I saw 136 packed to door. So maybe for those time slots, one bus upgraded to DD. Better than adding a SD for full day basis.
On another note, 324 loading continues to be poor. Max pax observed around 20-25 pax on bus.
They should have just had 62B from Punggol to Hougang Ave 10 during AM/PM peak hours. No need full day bus. So much waste of resource.
136 is notorious for having bad frequencies no suprised you see packed to the brim during peak..Amdep reluctant to improve the run time

Been going on for some time. It's a fleet upgrade according to LTA's press release.
But I've yet to hear what 'SBS7557R' has to say about if any DDs spotted on Sv 518A yet. I asked him here previously, but he skipped my question.
And furthermore, he has been very eager to edit that 3860R went into Sv 518 in replacement for 2626H. So eager to the extent that on the Bus Deployments by Service page on wiki, he didn't change the part that states "2626H & 2653D will perform 518A during Weekdays AM Peak". Neither did he edit the Former deployments page for 2626H. Up there lah.

That was what I've been seeing for some time too even though 3860R keeps appearing on Sv 518 as well. Either they shuffled the slots such that one of the perm Citaros is now supposedly perm for 518A, and 3860R is on that Citaro's former slot, or 3860R is replacing another bus entirely (for whatever reason it is).
I do think 518A should get upgraded to one DD slot eventually though. The crowds from Pasir Ris in the morning do justify that..and I don't know how they can persist with Citaros in the long-term on 518A without getting any complaints from frequent commuters.

IMO, either the first or second 518 leaving Pasir Ris Int after the last 518A needs the DD, as majority of the time, office pax can't board a SD due to it being full from TP students from Ave 2 to TP. Also, it seems like there are demand at Bedok North also. Unfortunately, the demand, IMO is, for unlikely reasons, higher than 518A.
Unless they change the other DD timing.
