Can use Voith if they derestricted the stupid 1st gear.Changeg to LED bulbs and consider white bulb for headlamps.

If Wldep take in Citaros then deploy to 178,187,961 for supplement buses..Afterall SMRT runtime is relaxing compared to yesteryear.

Voith only performs well on steep terrain.. For SG where 95% of the roads are flat ground, ZF takes the upper hand..

SBST love Voith mah,Most of their buses previously is Voith-equipped.Wakakaka

Then probably the KUBs will be more suitable choices instead of Citaro. Since all buses are now under LTA, it should reshuffle it's low entry buses to SMRT feeders to optimize their usage and resources. Using KUBs for trunk services is not suitable compared to double deckers.
Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:Shouldn't be surprising. That's how SMRT has made its feeders after the bendy quota was reduced. Instead of using DDs to compensate loss of bendies, they have done massive rigid addition.
Look at 901, 911 - both having high number of bendies now left with very few. Rigids are timed to bunch and leave the interchange throughout the day. More so with traffic conditions, spotting 3-4 buses on 911 together is not rare.
Same case with 811 in Yishun.
912/913 also have a lot of rigids when the fleet should have been strictly full fleet bendy or replace some bendies with DDs.
Probably this would be a temporary situation. SMRT has started using double deckers for 860 with a good start.
Things will become better once Yishun feeders gets transferred to the new operator.

It's ironic that you, the very same person who advocated for fleet assimilation, is now calling for an entirely new make for SMRT to bear. Why use KUB when the OC could do the job, in fact better?

Not much for sure.. The upper decks just gonna end up empty or at best, half filled..
Unless the concept enters svc soon..

Still can carry lot more pax than a rigid.
Half full upper deck can take 25-30 pax... and lower deck full to door can take around 60 pax...
Total still will take 85-90 pax compared to 65-70 pax of a fully loaded rigid.
Please note: we are now discussing rigid on feeders v/s DDs... as discussing bendies is a gone case!

Seriously in SG,LE buses also no point,Reluctant to move back and 1 ppl take too many space..The best is LF..

Is Low Entry bus a new type of bus to SMRT?
How many Citaros, A95s and B9TLs have taken in by SMRT since GCM?
Unless you are saying that SMRT has not operated 12m single deckers before?
Since you complained that Citaros has lesser capacities, then rope in the KUBs since there are only 130 odd OCs. Unless you are saying all the OCs are enough to cover the Woodlands feeders, then I have nothing to say.

Ya, but SMB128B says the Citaros carry less people and OCs are better. So won't rope in more KUBs to help out instead be better since 130 odd OCs may not be enough?

As a matter of fact, they are.
I rest my case.
Throw out all Citaro ( All operators ) and buy something more powerful and versatile -maybe the new Generation OC500LE ( with Citaro C2 engine that is bloody hell more powerful than the on that SG is using) OR A22 OR change the bloody Gearbox (ZF ecol ife 1200 ) to be precise .

Who's going to foot the bill for the new buses and the losses of scrapping new buses?
Tune the specs will be more practical.

Haha he will pay the bill,Best is to spread all Euro V K230UBs and OC500LEs..

Who lobbied for all these buses in the first place?
Originally posted by SBS351M:New radiator fan, the old B9TLs have a single, large radiator fan that does not cover the whole radiator, the newer B9TLs have 6 smaller fans that cover most of the radiator, which helps dissipate heat more effectively. A lot of the noise you hear from buses is from the radiator fan.
Maintenance of buses by individual compaies play a part too.
This is how things should be - incremental mechanical improvements.
You know something is really up when a manufacturer makes aesthetic improvements to the product in batches rather than mechnical ones, thinking that it is the pathway to secure that next huge order.

Best is both..
Best thing is to spray all euro v KUBs and OCs,Refurb what is necessary until their lifespan is up.Those KUBa ought to have another signal light on the left side.Use a clearer LED type.

Yep,Can retrofit those headlight with brighter bulb..

Not me. i prefer KUB and E500, like Penang. if we can have Mk4 E500 like KMB style even better.
No Volvo or Merc for me. too boring.

Neither did I.. In hindsight never had I really liked any of Volvo's LF DDs at all.. The VSO was powerless, bulky and noisy, and the B9.. Dont get me started
Granted the only time I actl liked a B9 was in HK, and that was an Euro III model, fitted with the ADL bodywork, not the bloody ugly WEG one..
