The bus you mentioned is Nissan Diesel. The bus was introduced by Tibs in 1993 and are currently around 10 years old. The buses have around 5 years to go before they will be phased out.Originally posted by greyskymorning:How bout TIB364?
Very very bus....the exit is those sliding one, seats brown leather with steel rest for pple standing to hold.
How old are this bus with TIB36x series? over the 15 yrs limit?
If the limit is raised to 20 years it will be in service for another 10 years. Time for TIBS to begin refurbishing these U31RCNs.Originally posted by off_service:The bus you mentioned is Nissan Diesel. I don't think Tibs will be refurbishing the bus anytime in the near future. I hope they do have plans to let the buses have "early retirement". The bus is too underpowered. I often hear drivers complaining abt the bus being too underpowered. However, they can still keep them as training bus. Do you think they will be moved to CSS?Originally posted by SBS9818A:If the limit is raised to 20 years it will be in service for another 10 years. Time for TIBS to begin refurbishing these U31RCNs.
I wonder what type of bus u are referring to. The Volvo Olympians, Leyland Olympians or Mercedes Benz 0405 WAs? I don't know about you, honestly, but I am 177cm tall and I feel that the leg room on SBS fleet is already quite 'luxurious' compared to those of TIBS, such as trying the 3rows of seats behind the 1st exit door of the Volgren MB0405 Bendy (Eg. TIB1192 ), or the rear seats of the Lance 211s. That is what I define crammed, at least my leg does not hit the seat in front in SBST's buses, except the Dennis Trident of course....Originally posted by SingaporeTyrannosaur:Save for the new buses on 25 that have reclined seats and such... all the others have too like argh#$@#$@# leg space! Esp if you are about 170cm!!! Looks like SBS specifically order them to plant more rows to save money... worse if it's on long hual... the cramp can make u puke one... argh... what's up with them... should make them sit their own buses!
I agree with you. Esp the seats with the "humps" above the wheel. Older SBST buses have smaller legrooms as the older generation are smaller in size and the bus was designed then. As for Tibs, the new buses have smaller legrooms is because the new Vogelsitze seats are thicker.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:I wonder what type of bus u are referring to. I like sitting at the seats with wheelarches at the floor of it. I just don't know how to describe it. Luckily I'm only 1.7m tall so I do not have any hassle trying to get on or off SBST/TIBS buses.Originally posted by off_service:I agree with you. Esp the seats with the "humps" above the wheel. 1.7m?! Can't see u grow so tall suddenly from our meeting last Saturday. maybe if you grow a few more cm like me and you will hit the top of the ceiling on the top deck of the DD or hit the AC duct of a Volvo Mk III if you dun mind the height like me sometimes.....OUCH!Originally posted by SBS9818A:I like sitting at the seats with wheelarches at the floor of it. OK lahz, exaggerate a bit, I'm ABOUT 1.7m tall, I won't hit the roof of buses so easily, don't worry.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:1.7m?! Yup I agree with you. There is something wrong if they deploy a British Lance 211 on the expressway though. I can only forsee 2 possible outcomes of the suicide: Stranded in the middle of TPE due to overheated engine, or another 1 or 2 buses of the same service would pass before it even gets down the e-way.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Well, I see nothing wrong with U31RCNs on highways, they do seem powerful Japanese buses.
1. Tibs interchanges in the west of Singapore has been getting DAF buses lately, e.g. svc 67. However, they don't seem to be permanent.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:One interesting find at Bt. Timah:
TIB 718 on Service 77. Also seen on Thursday on 77.
Any idea whether it will be a permanent bus? If so, then there goes the saying that there are no TIBS DAF in the city.
TIB 373 on Service 75 again. This bus had been serving 75 on Tuseday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Other interesting finds back home:
For the first time in dunno how long, no Nissan Diesels are on Service 853, including the ubiquitous TIB 377. The 0634 departure from Yishun, which had been TIB 377 since dunno how long, had been replaced with the 0405 with the Elephants of Asia ad.( honestly, I think this ad looks damn nice on an 0405 ), but I forgotten the rego.
FYI, if u want to know the fate of TIB 377 now, it is now seen on 854. TIBS may be committing suicide or showing off its heritage by deploying it against VSOs.
TIB 365 ( tai kong che / space vehicle ), cos of the words written above the driver, is deployed on service 852 on Monday in place of TIB 1014 ( Cheers! ). The words are still in the obscure location above the driver.
Surprise! TIB 365 appeared on 804 again yesterday. This time, I noticed that the tai kong che had been erased. I honestly think that the LAnce 211s should consider using the quite powerful Fuji AC, maybe it would improve the bus a bit, but it is still too lousy for me even with that.
The engine of 1015J is terribly hot and noisy. When you board the bus, the front is artic, the rear is the core of the earth. You can feel the engine heat coming out from 2 or 3 rows before the last rows of seat. This is how terrible the bus is. The engine seems to be overheated already.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Yup I agree with you. There is something wrong if they deploy a British Lance 211 on the expressway though. Wrong! A British-built Dennis Lance with Cummins B211 engine will do well on the highway, I enjoyed my rides on TIB 1010Y and TIB 1011U.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Yup I agree with you. Rear. Above the engine. I do admit the engine is hot but the air-con keeps the bus cool and comfortable. Today SBS 9353Z on Express 501 has a DHL all-over ad, but with contravision sticker on upper deck windscreen and SBS Transit text on lower deck windscreen in red, not transparent like SBS 9630Z.Originally posted by off_service:Are you sitting in the front or the rear of the bus?
Dennis Lance and Scania L113CRLs are common on their respective service. Sv. 11 and Sv. 42 are oddly enough, controlled by Bedok Interchange. I remember when I was waiting for a Sv. 42 Dart, a Sv. 222 Mk III came by to replace it(the Dart broke down).Originally posted by tranquilice:My findings yesterday, 16 June (regardless usual or unusual)
MK2 WA on service 89
Scania Elbo on service 961
Dennis Lance on service 167
Off-service 11 (MK3) at Bedok Interchange
Off-service 18 (VO 3-axle) at Bedok Interchange
Off-service 712 along Sims Avenue
