Why Habit Bus have so few handstraps???
I wrote to Tibs a couple of years back to ask why there are so few handstraps for the pininfarina Habit Bus but with no reply. Even till before I left Spore in feb this year, there are still no additional handstraps added...
I thought it's a regulation to have adequate handstraps in buses??
I find the stanchions insufficient on Habits, even though it doesn't affect me, bcos i'm tall enough to grab the horizontal bar itself. TIB 106X series have more stanchions, but Box Bendys have just too many handbars! What i enjoy doing on a Box Bendy is to walk thru the aisle with my hands touching the handlebars...Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:I guess they made up for it by having much more stachion poles. Aiyoyo! SBS 9530 D!? Oh well, never mind, since Sv 81 has TOO MANY double deck buses. I suppose a Mk 3 or Mk 4 sub its position on that particular day. SBS 9008 X on Sv 161? That's interesting.Originally posted by off_service:WHAT?! LO 3 axles on service 161?!![]()
Lucky I did not see it while on the SLE. Anyway, SBS 9530 D was on service 168 yesterday, 14 Sept 2003.
Yup! That's right! In fact, Scania seems to be better when comes to developing buses with high amount of torque. Really like those NAC, as they are very quiet. I don't even detect their existence when they are moving on da roads!Originally posted by TIB1186Z:No, better still, leave them in their original configuration, they are much quieter than the CACs.
I love Scanias, their torque is high enough to take on the hills of Changi and Loyang easily, unlike some obvious buses that will struggle like siao,
I suppose that Sv 100 is too circutous, that is why Transitlink had the first thought of amending itOriginally posted by Zilchster:Transitlink wanted to amend Svc 73, 80, 100, 155 and 641 too.
Perhaps so. Same for Sv. 73 and Sv. 155 I surmise.Originally posted by SBS9816E:I suppose that Sv 100 is too circutous, that is why Transitlink had the first thought of amending it
Especially svc 73 that winds a big round in the YCK area and AMK , but I dun think it can be cut, except linking S'goon Gdns to the MRT stations, but the route is understandably long as it needs to serve S'goon Gdns.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Perhaps so. Same for Sv. 73 and Sv. 155 I surmise.
Originally posted by SBS3688Y:Personally, I never use handstraps when standing. I either grab the top bar or use the stanchion poles or the seat handles. This is because the handstraps are potential hazards to the taller people who risk knocking into them when they get a seat....whats more, its kinda noisy when the handstraps knock onto the stanchion poles.

Hahaha Captain. Have fun!Originally posted by SBS9816E:Hmm something interesting.....
SBS 9195 M has been running around like mad. It was rather loyal to serve Sv 166, then Sv 161, 168 as sub buses, then went on to Sv 21, Sv 166, and now Sv 21.
The most recent sv seen on SBS 9195M is Sv 21. I seen it parking in AMKDEP yesterday, with Sv 21's back desto. (Captain, hehehehe) I suppose that SBS 9195M has somehow switched with either SBS 9144 K or SBS 9199C. Both buses are now on Sv 72. For Sv 166, I suppose that it has now been substituted by SBS 9143 M. In my opinion, SBS 9195M is somehow a shared bus now b/w 21 and 166. So.. off service and captain... have fun with this bus.![]()
TIB746P? TIB763P? TIB798P?? Only these few possibilities. Shud be TIB763P.Originally posted by Superbus:17th September 2003...
- SBS9631X on Service 12
- SBS9262C (Service 12) collided with TIB7XXP (Service 61) at Bugis Junction. Apparently, TIB7XXP had broken down earlier, and SBS9262C came from the right and scrapped TIB7XXP right mirror. Caused a traffic congestion.

TIB426M on 969 you mean? It is there for many weeks alreadyOriginally posted by TIB1186Z:Today's findings:
TIB425M on svc 969 today for the second time after getting a deppot transfer
CAC O405 with underfloor A/C you mean? There are only two of them - TIB741C and TIB779U. And both of them take turns to serve in 855. And they do not serve in the Woodlands trunk svc because both of them belong to AMKDEP. The rest of the CAC O405's have rooftop A/C's. As for O405 OAC's, well, all 235 of them have underfloor A/C's.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Today's findings:
TIB741C with underfloor A/C on svc 855 today ( I think these underfloor 0405s are mainly found serving the Woodlands trunk svc like 961 and 187 )
Why were they equipped with under-floor A/C? For trial purposes? 9631X on Sv. 12 is a little shocking, isn't it perm on Sv. 17? Ahh, the good old days when 9631X was still with Sv. 56..Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:CAC O405 with underfloor A/C you mean? There are only two of them - TIB741C and TIB779U. I guess so. TIB779U was the first NAC converted then followed closely by TIB741C. Shortly after that TIB775E became the first TIBS O405 NAC to be converted to a rooftop a/c'ed CAC and subsequently all other NAC's followed TIB775E.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Why were they equipped with under-floor A/C? Are u willing to vouch that it does not belong to WLDEP? I can. Cos everytime at 0730 a TIB741C pulls up in front of my school on svc 961.Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:CAC O405 with underfloor A/C you mean? There are only two of them - TIB741C and TIB779U. That I am not aware of. Perhaps it has joined the recent exodus from AMKDEP to WDLDEP after 106 was cut. I am very sure that as recent as July TIB741C had been spotted on services 811 and 855. 741C is definitely an AMKDEP native.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Are u willing to vouch that it does not belong to WLDEP? OK. Of all things they should also have sealed the windows like SBST did with their ex-NAC O405s. Wonder why they were even bought NAC in the first place. At least the a/c compressor could have been installed, like AL1 in HK, and windows opened in prepation for the future regulations. Forgot how it was like to be on an NAC O405, there are none left in SG. A pity.Originally posted by AntiDennisLance:I guess so. TIB779U was the first NAC converted then followed closely by TIB741C. Yeah the non-air-tight windows let in a lot of smoke and dust esp with the ELBO CAC's. The rubber sealants are sometimes corroded.Originally posted by SBS9818A:OK.
