That was back in the late 90s. SBS 3572Y had also served on Sv. 106 before when it was quite new.Originally posted by mercedes_hispano:From some old photos of buses, I have found out that the Leyland Lynx has actually served Service 269 before. But it was a very long while back then, when the new temporary Ang Mo Kio Bus interchange hadn't been built. I'm not even sure if the SBST MB 405 (Non-A/c) at the time, had been inauragated into the SBST Main fleet.
Ahh, my old friend 9631X occasionally does cameos on Sv. 2 you know. Hope it's still on Sv. 17, miss it lots(ex- Sv. 56)Originally posted by Superbus:Some inter-services bus transfers update@BNDEP:-SBS2764S now on Service 12

Cheers and warm regards
Not late but early 90s. In fact, the Lynx was registered in 1989. The MB O405s were not even bought yet and the Scania N113CRBs were just beginning to be introduced. Ang Mo Kio feeder buses were using OF1413s. My first glimpse of the Lynx was when it was used on sv. 269. It passed by the house where my aunt used to live and carried a big, blue Leyland insignia on its side.Originally posted by SBS9818A:That was back in the late 90s. I think the O405s were already bought, but not introduced.Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:Not late but early 90s. In fact, the Lynx was registered in 1989. Looks like your hope is wrong. Majority N113CRB fleet, I might add. Imagine them speeding down the TPE faster than any B10TL or O405.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Anyone saw bus 3's fleet ? How is it ? Less scanias I hope .
Looks like I havent been missing out much ever since I left Singapore .![]()
Speed counts a lot.........imagine you are in an oven-like TIB1014L and is struggling to speed down an expressway.....You will feel miserable, don't you?Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Who cares about speed ? ohh besides mercedes and volvo buses can speed too .
It isn't that gearbox fault, in fact, it is much smoother with Voiths.Originally posted by SBS9816E:Today's deployment...SBS 3835P on Sv 133
SBS 635 U on Sv 153 (thought that this bus has gone over to Bedok North Depot.)

Comment on SBS 9690A
I took it on Sv 165 today. i found out that the interior is getting dirty. Yikes. It seems that no one bothers about cleaning up the bus. Also, musking tape is being pasted over the gaps of the electronic destination sign at the uppder deck! Does it mean that the cover got loosen or what? The first deck of the bus doesn't vibrate so violent, however the 2nd deck would vibrate off violently when accelerating. Finally, hearing the engine (Cummins M11-305E) of 9690A --> It seems that it sounds a little weird. One couldn't hear it in the bus. However, when one hears it outside of the bus, one might find that the whirling sound is a kinda weird. Bet that Voith gearbox is making it from bad to worst.
You don't care ah? One day if you're in a desperate rush you'd better make sure I don't catch you saying "could it hurry up" on an insipid B10TL.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Who cares about speed ? ohh besides mercedes and volvo buses can speed too .
I don't see the reasons why you hate VSOs so much. If they can't go fast, I would have missed my last service 962 bus. Instead I caught the second last bus. Yes, Scania is powerful and can go fast but all other buses can speed. If you want to blame on the "insipid-ness" of the buses, blame it on the governor. I truly believe VSOs can go fast like any other buses.Originally posted by SBS9818A:You don't care ah? N113CRB engines produce a staggering 1300Nm of torque. Very powerful engine indeed. Yes, I have taken some mutant Mk IIIs on Sv. 89 and Sv. 156, these guys could somehow speed while their other counterparts lumber on. However, I'll still be avoiding Mk IIIs.
I'll only take one if it's ABSOLUTELY necessary, if I'm in a rush and the first bus coming along is one of them.Originally posted by off_service:I don't see the reasons why you hate VSOs so much. Since you hate VSOs so much, I hope I won't see you in one as it will contradict your words.

For goodness sake just stop all this sort of "discussions". It is not constructive at all and takes up unnecessary space on the forum (to readers like me). I don't think this is an "interesting find" at all. I want to stress that while different buses can perform differently when left in their original states, the speed is still modulated by the speed limiter, which is really the insipid thing. The speed at which the bus goes is also dependent on the driver, which in my opinion, is the actual "rate determining factor". What can you do if the driver of a Scania decides to drive slowly because he is ahead of schedule, or when a VSO chiong and overtake other buses because it is behind schedule?
The whirling sound is made by ZF Gearbox. What i meant was those kinda whirling sound, that gave people the impression that the turbo of the engine is somehow faulty.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:It isn't that gearbox fault, in fact, it is much smoother with Voiths.
The whirling sound is kinda normal, if not then most of the buses have that problem, especially VO 3-Ax
Quite a few tridents have the EDS hatch vibrating, another example is SBS9675 on 147
Sure or not!? Trey Sv 70 Drivers, and some of 133s. They are speedy devils!Originally posted by SBS9818A:But in my travels I notice many N113CRB drivers tend to drive at a fast speed, while B10TL drivers guai guai go at normal speed.
