Hi all,
I was taken aback when I came across this fabulous interest group about a couple of days ago. Bus spotting used to be a hobby of mine when I'm younger, but sadly due to work commitments my interests waned.
I can still remember during my younger days where the SBS buses are silver in colour and we have bus conductors, and later OMO (One-Man-Operation) machines, and later on followed by OTS (One-Man Ticketing System). By the way, I still know how to draw those symbols! Hehe. When I was younger, I'd alwats like to press those rubber strips that were stuck to the roof of the buses - of cos' to the horror of my mum. Haha. I wonder if today's buses still have them.
I used to collect a fair bit of bus-guides over the years, the earliest I remembered was in 198x, where there still was a service number 1 around. Can't recall where the route plyed, probably from Changi Village Terminal to somewhere down town. Probably need to go and ransack all my goodies again to relive to good ol' days.
Does anyone have any good bus sites to recommend? I only know Gakei website - but would like to know more, especially on the local scene.
Many thanks to all of you for having rekindled my interests again in this wonderful hobby!
