Hi,Originally posted by Tripp:Thanks for the clarificaton.
Did SBS only purchase the following DD buses over its history:
1. Leyland Atlanteans 2-axles,
2. Mercedes Benz O305 2-axles,
3. Leyland Olympians 2-axles, <-- My personal fave.
4. Leyland Olympians 3-axles,
5. Volvo Olympians 2-axles,
6. Volvo Olympians 3-axles,
7. Volvo Super Olympian 3-axles,
8. Dennis Trident 3-axles.
How about other fleets/models?
Which one? The B55-Ailsa or the B10MD? I only got a ride once on the Ailsa, when it served Service 31 for a brief period of time. Though it was fast, I kinda like the engine sound better...Originally posted by oliver_yuen87:I've heard that the old volvo demonstartor DD is very powerful. true?

1st bus should be a 1951 British Albion Victor FT39L bus, operated by Singapore Traction Company (STC).Originally posted by Tripp:

Hmm, I wasn't even born when the National II was on the roads. Tranquilice, how do you know it's near WTC?Originally posted by tranquilice:I have never seen this type of bus before.
From the picture, it was taken near WTC.
The bus stop behind the bus. The then World Trade Centre is the only place with such unique bus stop.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Hmm, I wasn't even born when the National II was on the roads. Tranquilice, how do you know it's near WTC?
Same as off service's reply, that bus stop in the background "tells" me that it's near WTC. The bus stop was demolished sometime in 1998 for the construction of the NEL.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Hmm, I wasn't even born when the National II was on the roads. Volvo B57's sold to Ireland, Leyland and Albion Viking VK44 and VK43 models to Fiji, some Leyland Atlantean AN68/2R's to China and Hong Kong. The Leyland National 2 is now at Surfside, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. One Leyland Olympian 2 axle sold to the UK, one Volvo Olympian 2 axle sold to the UK, one DAF SB220/Hispano, ex CSS, ex TIBS also to the UK.Originally posted by Tripp:Sorry if it's old news, I'm pretty nostalgic when it comes to buses, and went to dig out information on our old SBS buses which had retired, and what had become of them.
Does anyone know where you can find images of old buses that SBS used to have? It may not need to be in SBS livery. Thanks.
There should be 2 Volvo Olympians sold to Metroline of UK. And there are also a small number of Metsec Atlanteans sold to Jakarta.Originally posted by Windy_hates_B10TLs:Volvo B57's sold to Ireland, Leyland and Albion Viking VK44 and VK43 models to Fiji, some Leyland Atlantean AN68/2R's to China and Hong Kong.
