nice one
I believes that those bus services from Joo Koon Interchange will not travel beyond Tuas, Jurong Industrial Area, Jurong West New Town (includes Taman Jurong and Boon Lay) or at most Jurong East. For Jurong Industrial Area, the main thing is to link various parts of the industrial estate to the nearest bus interchange/MRT stations rather than providing direct linkages to other parts of Singapore and thus until now we have still yet to see any services plying inside Jurong Industrial Estate (Except for 185 and 502 which doesn't ply much inside Jurong Industrial Estate anyway) which travels beyond Jurong East (Or Clementi if you consider 78 to be plying Jurong Industrial Area).

I agree. with Joo Koon, the focus has to be to provide more connectivity between Tuas / Jurong Industrial estates to MRT. Today many sectors/avenues do not have any bus service. People have to walk long distance if have to take bus. This has to be first priority. Then people can take bus from Boon Lay or MRT and go wherever they need. But first priority is at least provide those people connection to get to MRT.
When LTA designs the new public bus network to accomodate the new Joo Koon Bus Interchange, it should take into consideration the upcoming Tuas MRT stations.
The revamped set of public bus routes should not duplicate the upcoming MRT line but instead, be a complementary to it.
Meanwhile, an interim bus service should be created to ply the roads and serve the bus stops which will have the MRT line. This interim bus service should run limited stops and only serve those that will be right beside the future new Tuas MRT stations.
The purpose for this interim bus service is so that the public bus network can be revamped now for the new Joo Koon Bus Interchange, and not be revamped again when Tuas MRT line opens.

Most import to least important:
1.areas in Tuas and Pioneer that always experience traffic congestion during peak hours - to encourage motorists to switch to public transport, hence reduce traffic congestion.
2.people working and living in Tuas and Pioneer Industrial areas - they are the main stakeholders of Joo Koon Bus Interchange.
3.people working and living in the Military area.
4.people staying in Jurong West - they should have direct bus connections to the industrial areas, since they are stay right beside.
5.people working and living in the Boon Lay Industrial areas (there is already Pioneer MRT and Boon Lay MRT Stations)
6.people studying, working and living in Nanyang Technological University and National Institute of Education.
7.people going to Singapore Discovery Centre and/or Jurong Bird Park.

Agreed... Is there any service parallel today to Tuas MRT... I dont think so...

Why would you connect NTU or Jurong Bird Park to Joo Koon? Does not make sense... The current connections from Boon Lay are perfect for both.

When LTA properly designs the bus network, everything remains unchanged; because you know why: Tseung Kwan O Line broke down on 17 December 2013 which causes a lot of catastrophe: Restricted services between Tseung Kwan O and Quarry Bay. Unfortunately this is stubborn; and they dispose the services without thinking. No bus rationalisations is allowed after 2011 MRT train disruptions, and if possible allow them to bring back bus routes parallel to MRT: 9 from Yishun to Orchard with N9; 11 from Geylang Lorong 1 to Rifle Range Road.
Hope we don't want Hong Kong's example to repeat again in Singapore. Is like u want to sack anyone in the school. U remember the new Rapid Transit Systems Act?
I like it

Express better...
If 692 was express they won't even bother about it... Let the ppl ride express 692 (or 692P) to CBD and change unaffected ISL...

well, just wondering, is it possible to have bus routes of less than 10km and running only in industrial areas?
do we call bus services that run on such routes "Feeder bus services", even though they never serve any HDB apartment block?
because I think of the 3-6 bus services that Mr Pervertedboy mentioned, all will be "feeder" serving only one particular zone (eg. Kian Teck-Lok Yang, Benoi-Shipyard, Joo Koon-Gul, Tuas-Tuas Link, Tuas Crescent-Pioneer Sector, Tuas South), complemented with "intra-town" trunk services from Boon Lay Bus Interchange running along the main roads across the six zones.
Personally, I think the bus network at Joo Koon Bus Interchange will be similar to the one at Yishun Bus Interchange, where
Meanwhile, I think Pioneer Road North will be the divider between Boon Lay and Joo Koon's "areas of responsibilities". the industrial areas east of Pioneer Road North (and Tanjong Kling Road) would most probably remain under Boon Lay.

- trunk bus services (from Boon Lay) run along the main roads (eg. Pioneer Road & Benoi Road),

Meanwhile, I think Pioneer Road North will be the divider between Boon Lay and Joo Koon's "areas of responsibilities". the industrial areas east of Pioneer Road North (and Tanjong Kling Road) would most probably remain under Boon Lay.
actually, I do not think it is sufficient to separate the entire industrial area into only six zones. based on how many people work and live in the industrial area, we have to separate the area into at least twelve zones: Lokyang-Kianteck, Joo Koon, Gul, Benoi, Shipyard, Pioneer Sector, Tuas Crescent-Tuas Basin, Pioneer Road-Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, Tuas West, Tuas South (North), Tuas South (South).
To ensure efficiency, there has to be another bus interchange at Tuas. so let it be Tuas Bus Terminal. Of the (at least) twelve zones, Joo Koon take six, Tuas take six.
as for the intra-town bus services, I agree we should let them start at Tuas Bus Terminal. whereas for the other end, it can either be Boon Lay, Jurong East or anywhere else.

I believe we should have such services with the P variant, operating only in peak hours uni-directional from MRT to industrial estates something like 881. Industrial areas have been largely neglected by LTA/SMRT/SBST and I don't think it is correct.
If you see the loads on 78/79/183, you know that there is a huge demand. Hopefully, with these more buses, such P services are appropriately planned.

well, unlike in the city, people working in the industrial areas go home at the same time. as a result, the roads leading to the expressways are always congested during evening peak hours, as they are in the morning.
well, I agree with you that instead of having standard "feeders", we should have "feeders" that operate only during peak hours, since the people working in the industrial areas only require the buses to go to their workplace and return home. instead of having them go to the bus interchange/terminal, they will just go to the respective MRT stations and end there.
during regular hours, when the demand is much lower, it is wise to only have intra-town bus services running along the main roads and passing through the boundaries (instead of going into it) of every zone in the industrial area, going directly to Tuas Bus Terminal and terminate there.

- However, the four new MRT stations in Tuas will not be ready in the first two years (2015 & 2016) when Joo Koon Bus Interchange opens.
- As an interim measure, I think we should have a bus service that operates during peak hours and runs along the future Tuas MRT route and stops at only four stops (that are sited next to the four MRT stations), for people to alight at Joo Koon MRT station and transfer to, to get to the peak hour "feeders" and arrive at their workplace. In other words, we should implement a temporary Bus Rapid Transit system that exists for two years and runs only during peak hours, until when the Tuas MRT stations are ready.
during regular hours, when the demand is much lower, it is wise to only have intra-town bus services running along the main roads and passing through the boundaries (instead of going into it) of every zone in the industrial area, going directly to Tuas Bus Terminal and terminate there.
since there are intra-town bus services running along the boundaries of every zone in the industrial area, I think it is better to have the peak hour "feeders" run and end at where they intersect with the intra-town bus services - unless they go to Joo Koon MRT, which is already built.
people can simply make a transfer from the "feeders" to the intra-town bus services and go to whichever bus interchange or whichever MRT station along the way, and find their way home from there.
when the Tuas MRT stations are ready, then we extend the peak hour "feeders" to the new stations and end there.
I think this is better than your suggestion of having temporary BRT, which will cause an unnecessary bottleneck at Joo Koon MRT station area.
come to think about it, if there are intra-town "trunks" operating from Tuas Bus Terminal and peak period "feeders" which only run within a particular zone in the industrial zone, what is then the purpose of having Joo Koon Bus Interchange?
no la. I think the "trunks" will only run between Tuas Bus Terminal and Joo Koon Bus Interchange, and between Joo Koon Bus Interchange and Boon Lay Bus Interchange.
personally, I do not think there should be any non-JIS bus service from Boon Lay Bus Interchange (or Jurong East) being extended to Joo Koon. Those services are already too long. we should shortern them instead.
Hmmm, here are some ideas

From Joo Koon, you should have 2 new services covering parts of Gul, Benoi, Pioneer not covered by any service today. I had proposed the routes earlier. These services could be 256/258.
From empty slots at Boon Lay Interchange, there should be 248 to ply Neythal and parts of International Rd not covered with service today. Also from Boon Lay Interchange, should have service 253 to Kim Tian sector (parts not covered by service today)

Personally, I feel that the bus network currently at Tuas, Pioneer and Boon Lay (planning areas) is not effective - evident from the regular peak hour traffic congestion. With the Tuas MRT line coming along, there has to be bus rationalisation at Tuas area, with a new set of bus services in Tuas, Pioneer and Boon Lay (planning areas).
In my opinion, I think the new set of bus services will consists of peak hour bus services (PHBS) and "trunk" bus services.
