Although it happened more than six months ago, it was mentioned again in my constituency's newsletter.
According to the newsletter, the conversion of 99 from loop service to bi-directional service "helps to improve frequency and service level."
As for 258, "this route enhances the connectivity to Joo Koon, Pioneer and Boon Lay MRT/ Bus Interchanges and local amenities in Joo Koon, Boon Lay and Jurong West."
In my opinion, I feel that it is a waste that 258 is not at the same boarding berth as 243G at Boon Lay Bus Interchange, otherwise the loading would be better. The route somewhat supplements 243.
Personally, I am disappointed that there is no mention of 192 removed from Jurong West Avenue 4. If it has caused unhappiness, I hope the authorities can at least create a new route to compensate the commuters at Jurong West Avenue 4, or increase 193 frequency by 100%...
Why can't they like make 242 go directly to Jurong West Street 72, launch a new feeder to Jalan Boon Lay and Jurong West Avenue 3, and re-route 181 to run the skipped section of Jurong West Avenue 4 and Boon Lay Bus Interchange? Or something like that? :(
258 route is a waste between Boon Lay and Gek Poh. Always empty buses leaving Boon Lay interchange (10-15 pax max).
193 is doing fine for Boon Lay - JW sector. In fact, there are many SD->DD conversion on 193 that ensures the queue is cleared.

100% agree on 258, personally, my suggestion would be to ammend 258 to serve Avenue 4, 5 and Street 72 (loop at Street 71 before going back to Pioneer/Joo Koon), otherwise, a swap of berths between 256 and 258 would help to boost the loading on 258

193 loading is quite good, I don't think it needs a frequency boost for the peak hours as the DDs are able to clear the queue
I've did a loading observation on 193 once during peak hour from BNL to Pioneer MRT and I am quite surprised that 193 got above 40 people, it is notable that the passangers are mainly those who live near Pioneer Mall as 242 takes a long loop
My suggestion would be to re-route 258 to serve Avenue 4/5 and Street 72 to give commuters along Avenue 4/5 and Street 72 a service to Pioneer MRT (Ave 4 have 193 and Ave 5 have 185/502 though)

2824C on 99 is like the 2nd most unusual cameo to happen at Joo Koon Int (9588M cameoed 258 with full desto set once)
Update: Joo Koon Bus Interchange's new routes 253, 256 and 258, and amended routes 99 and 254 are now on Google Maps directions feature. :)

If I remember correctly, the Tuas West MRT construction ends on 31 July 2016, which means the construction finish already.
Considering the testing and comissioning takes around 6 to 8 months, it is likely that revenue service will commence around January to March next year.
I believe the authorities had made provisions for the Tuas West MRT Extension during the planning of bus routes at Joo Koon Bus Interchange, so there should be minimal changes to the bus routes when the new MRT stations open.
Nonetheless, I guess at least one bus route at Joo Koon Bus Interchange (e.g. 254, 182, etcetera.) will be transferred to Tuas Bus Terminal.

I was thinking 182
Don't think they will further cut 182 as there will be no buses serving in between Joo Koon Int and Tuas Terminal/Tuas Checkpoint along Upp Jurong Road (Pasir Laba Camp, Singapore Discovery Centre, Army Museum), PIE and Jln Ahmad Ibrahim.
Unless they cut 182 into 2 services: Joo Koon - Tuas and Tuas - Tuas South but I doubt it will happen.
Maybe 182 switch points?
Tuas loop at joo koon?
But the prob is the checkpoint...

256 Boon Lay - Joo Koon - Tuas Checkpoint (Loop), stopping at Tuas Link Station.
182 Tuas - Tuas South (Loop)

Unless they cut 182 into 2 services: Joo Koon - Tuas and Tuas - Tuas South but I doubt it will happen.
The other option is to extend 256 to Tuas such that it becomes the bridging service between Tuas and Boon Lay. Then cutting 182 may be possible. But this would also deprive 182 commuters from using the facilities at Joo Koon.

LTA said end of 2016 though

Well, for all we know, the Tuas West MRT Extension opens on 31 December 2016, since they only say "end of 2016".
but one thing's for sure: by this time next year, one can take MRT all the way from Pasir Ris to Tuas Link. :)
For the record,
Joo Koon Bus Interchange
- 2 entry & 1 exit, with 1 lane each.
- 2 alighting berths.
- 3 boarding berths.
- 18 parking lots.

Originally posted by SBS7123J:I have noticed that some of those amended services are still using old destos.
I saw SBS9538H (SLBP 192) still using the side desto which still stated the services plied Jurong West Avenue 4 and Lok Yang Way. I suspect it might be the case too for 193 and 251 since most buses which used destos will be gone within the next 2 years so no point making new side destos for those services.
All their amended bus services have changed their side desto in January 2016, for 99, 182, 192, 193, 251, 254, 255 and 257. SBS also ordered new destos for 253, 256 and 258.
Destos will not be phased out in the near future, but they will also carry along in case the electronic route display spoil. Black-on-white desto will commonly be used from 1 September 2016. Same goes to cashless society, where they will not be carried out anytime - even bus or MRT, they will not be cashless. There are people who do not have money and from overseas. In addition, there are people who do not have money so some shops or food outlets will not be cashless.
Destos removed from June 2016:
41, 49, 66, 78, 79, 96, 97, 97e, 98, 98M, 143, 183, 282, 284, 285, 333, 334, 335
Destos removed from September 2016:
2, 3, 6, 12, 15, 17, 17A, 34, 36, 43, 43M, 62, 82, 83, 84, 85, 118, 119, 136, 354, 358, 359, 382G, 382W, 386, 403, 518
Destos whose routes are no longer with SBS Transit are given by the collectors.
72 desto is still retained until further notice.
292 just use paper plate - "Service 292 Tampines Int - Tampines St 22 (Loop)" lol.

Pokémon Go
There's no poké-stop here. This area only have one gym (Joo Koon MRT Station) and four poké-stops (at Upper Jurong Road). :(
Besides the NTWU canteen, there are five food stalls here, selling drinks, fruits, kueh, roti, pizza, Chinese food and Indian food. :)
