SINGAPORE - The Joo Koon Integrated Transport Hub, which features a new bus interchange, will officially begin operations on Nov 21.
Bus operations will be implemented in three phases over a period of four weeks - the first will start on Nov 21, the second a week later and the last on Dec 12.
Eight bus services, including new services 253, 256 and 258, will operate from the hub, which is expected to improve the transport options for commuters living and working in the Jurong and Tuas areas.
Providing an air-conditioned link between the bus interchange and Joo Koon MRT station, it also houses the $350 million Fairprice Hub.
Launched in September, the Fairprice Hub features a high-tech distribution centre and also serves as its headquarters for more than 600 employees.
The transport hub has been fitted with barrier-free facilities such as dedicated boarding points and graduated kerb edges to make it more wheelchair-friendly.
Its concourse area was also designed to feature priority queues with seats for the elderly and disabled, in line with the Land Transport Authority's efforts to create a more elderly-friendly transport system.
Joo Koon is the eighth area to receive its own integrated transport hub. Two more are currently being constructed in Bukit Panjang and Yishun, and will be completed in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

Hi mr SBS9256X, why you feel 192, 254 will terminate at joon koon? Why you feel 185 or express 502??? Read carefully their press release. All 8 services (new or amended) have already been announced. Cheers. Thanks.
3 phases when Joo Koon Bus Interchange is completed
Boon Lay Bus Interchange has sixty bus parking lots. If every bus service has two parking lots, this means that actually, it can only accomodate up to thirty bus services.
Currently, there are thirty two bus services at Boon Lay Bus Interchange. After the Joo Koon Bus Interchange is fully open, there will be a total of two less bus services at Boon Lay Bus Interchange, with twenty nine bus services.
In other words, Boon Lay Bus Interchange would have space for at least one new bus service in future, after Joo Koon Bus Interchange fully opens. If we merge 174e berth with 174 berth, we can have another new bus service. There's space for up to two new bus services in future, at Boon Lay Bus Interchange. :)
Whereas for Joo Koon Bus Interchange, there would be eight bus services. Which means there is space for one new bus service in future.
do u guys notice that only 258 is under BSEP? haha

1 less bus route along Jurong West Avenue 4?:/

At least there is this new 258 at Jurong West Street 71 and 75, near the three bus stops along Jurong West Avenue 4. :)
I am so looking forward to this new 258. I have been waiting for such a bus connection to Pioneer MRT station, since 2009. Now that there finally is this bus connection... OMG! I cannot wait.
Well, if can, I hope there can be a new bus stop at Jurong West Street 81, at least for this new bus service 258, so that people staying at Street 81 but nearer to Avenue 5 can also benefit from it. :)
But most important of all, I really really really really really... Really hope that the frequency of 258 is good, that 258 is more reliable than 179 during weekday mornings. If like that, then I do not have to complain anymore about 179, because now have 258. Yay! :)
Surprised to see 192 diverted. I thought it would be 193 that would change route while 192 will remain course, as 192 is almost full fleet DD required for ave 4 (especially with one service gone).
243G/W can lose its BSEP buses to 258 once this route kicks in. No need for so many buses on 243G/W.
We can look forward to massive BSEP DD registrations for SLBP.
So each service only gets 2 lots?99 is the only service that travel out of Jurong.
193 has almost taken 192 route now... wonder why they changed this... 192 could have continued in its current route, and only change could have been made to 193.

Let's see... Jurong West Ave 4 has 4 stops along it. If we go from Pioneer to Boon Lay.
Stop 1: 243G / 193
Stop 2: 193 / 242
Stop 3: 193 / 242
Stop 4: 242
So overall... ave 4 will still have 2 bus services to cater to the loading. Also 242 has got now 8 bus fleet for a small route, so can easily tank the load. I also expect 193 to get more DDs with the change.
Most people working in Joo Koon, live around Jurong West / East town for convenience to work place. Hence, route planners have tried to give as much direct connectivity to Joo Koon from these towns as possible.
From east to west:
st 63: 192
st 64: 193, 256, 258
st 61 / 71 / 81 / 82: 258
ave 4: 99 (1st stop), 193 (next 3 stops)
ave 5: No service (1st 2 stops), 99 (next 2 stops)
st 91, 93: 99
Jurong East Town: 99
This way route planners have almost covered all of Jurong West Town... except for few bus stops. So I think bus usage will increase between Boon Lay and Joo Koon due to point to point connection, and MRT use will take a hit between Boon Lay and Joo Koon MRT.
At same time MRT will benefit with more people taking MRT from Joo Koon than Boon Lay. It will see some easing of crowd at Boon Lay interchange as well.

why? only one BSEP service 258 ... dun think sv99 extension is under BSEP as well...
the other 2 new services all can take buses from 182/254/255/257 since their routes are all shortened... .
