SMRT to get DDs soon

  My friend working with LTA who had given the tip off earlier, confirmed that this is soon becoming a reality. I won't disclose his identity of course, but just thought of sharing the news with you all.

  But again can Wldep and Amdep accomodate DDs?Dun tell me the DDs exclusively for Kjdep svc only?

  Maybe for now it is... For 190, 188, 106, 61, 180, 985, 300, 302, 972, 184. These services itself can fill the capacity for 150 DDs. In the meantime, they might improve facilities at WLBP. May be. AMK will be the last to get DDs. Again, until there is a press release, it is all hearsay and rumors is what I will say.

  Seriously if they wanna get DDs their infrastructure should be DD friendly.Amdep confirm no DDs cause of the roof.

  at last SMRT is taking significant step to improve productivity and customer satisfaction. also i believe DDs can help alleviate some traffic congestions inside bus interchanges and overall use lesser space compared to bendies. for depots; just need to renovate to accomodate DDs if required. but looks like the new DD is longer than Volvo B9TL? too long may restrict route deployments esp smaller roads. same length as existing DDs is ideal.

  Yes and the reason is: there are not enough high capacity buses with SMRT.

  Actually why can't wldep accommodate DD?due to the maintainance area?  Why smrt have to keep jack up their buses for maintainance? Frankly speaking. I never see sbstransit jack up their DD in the workshops at all.

  it is good for smrt to have DD bus. Maybe the first service they going to try out might be svc 190. Even with the DTL ready in 2 years time the demand will be still there. Semi-express bus service is another way to travel to city in a fast way. I don't think SMRT will remove the service. in fact 190 and 972 will help to reduce crowd in MRT. by the way the DTL is going to be operated by SBST.

  Cause smrt maintenance bay usually dont have the underground svc area thus need to jack up?

  965 is one svc that REALLY doesn't need DDs.

  Cbd svc need it more cause of the traffic itself,not practical use bendy.106,167,171,190,700,851,857.After that can talk about svc like 61,67,172,176,180,184,187,188,189,854,856,960,962,963,964,966,969,980 & 985

  It's just a demo. Probably will go to 190 together with SMB388S for SMRT to evaluate.
