Seen it on peak hour most of the time. At times the marshall just kill 2 birds with 1 stone by inserting pax on both buses.

SMRT will introduce 103 units of ADL E500 this year. The chassis will be produced in United Kingdom, while the other parts will be assembled in a plant at Malaysia.
some images I found from Google images:
apparently, SMRT wants to be different from SBS Transit.
so buy Double Decker also buy from new brands... #justsaying

For your info, the bus in that 2 pics is KMB's ATENU135, the 2nd E500NG demo bus assembled in UK, in the world...
The first E500NG in the world is CTB 8320...
Correction: 'Alexander' is not a new bus brand in Singapore.
http://www.orientalmodelbuses.co.uk/Xtra/HK-CTB-8320.htm (The arrival of the standard liveried 'new-generation' 12 metre Enviro500s.... July 2013)
Apparently, the Enviro500 is even newer than the Volvo B9TL Wright buses that SBS is using... :)
maybe the livery for SMRT's double decker would be something like this... upper deck just silver colour... who knows? :(

You dont say... Ofc newer lah MMC eh uncle
Since they wanna take in HK models I EXPECT HK standards of buses.
That includes less urbanised interiors etc. Especially since these are going on majority trunks (I am expecting bendies instead to take over most of feeders/Intratowns).
Alexander was in SG for very long liao...
Now merged entity for Economies of Scale
Any mentioned of the ENGINE specs?!? Should be Dennis rite since SMRT seldom buys/buys opp(citaro exception) of wat SBST buys...
Originally posted by carbikebus:Quite dissapointed they order only 105 units on paper.Should have order 200 at least.Hopefully another 105 is the MAN DD..Probably MK1 bendy will have early retirement else where they wanna park the buses?
This is the first time TIBS/SMRT is procuring Double Decker buses.
Please give them some time to introduce Double Decker buses into their fleet.
It is wise that they start small, and not buy larger quantities.
Since they just started having Double Decker buses in their fleet, starting small would enable them to learn how to handle Double Decker buses and how to manage the deployment of Double Decker buses in their bus services.
Another advantage of buying small units:
if the subsequent Double Decker bus models that SMRT procures are different, there will be a variety of Double Decker buses in SMRT's bus services.

WE THANK Mr Kuek Xiu Hao for his suggestion to deploy bendy or double-decker buses for service 857 ("Deploy bigger buses for services in high demand"; Forum Online, Tuesday). To meet the growing need and demand for bus services, SMRT has purchased new buses, which will be plying the roads alongside our current fleet in the later part of this year.In addition, we are participating in the Bus Service Reliability Framework All these initiatives will help alleviate factors such as overcrowding, as well as ensure that our buses arrive on time and at regular intervals.Service 857 will benefit from all these improvement efforts.SMRT is committed to delivering safe and reliable bus journeys for all our passengers, and we will continue to explore ways to enhance their travelling experience.

Sounds like buying 1000 units like tat, deploy here and there when actually buying 103 units
Originally posted by carbikebus:Thats why..im not pressuring SMRT buying more DDs but with recent rise in populations do you all think 103 DDs is enough?106,169,184,187,188,189,190,700,851,854,856,857,960,963,965,966,969,971E ??1 service ratiin 3 DDs ah?Somemore Amdep is not DD friendly either..Hais

Just noticed that the old railway bridge at hillview, near stanchart, with the 4.3m limit has been taken out. Reduces obstacle to DDs in the area which has some bendy services.
Can't wait for new buses.
