Heard from sb on fb that SMRT's KJDEP is capable for DDs

Even if its capable, the SMRT controlled area still need tree trimming... if not, WRI or BBT svcs should get the test first... WRI & BBT basically are the places where they have SBST DDs plying everyday at every hour... CCK & BPJ only Premium 555 route for DD usage... Although 190 has SBS DD last time, but through so many years, the trees might have become a problem if not trimmed...
They have to fix a bit lorh

When you build MRT, you have to cut hordes of trees. Here it is only trimming trees. Such changes need to be made to improve infrastructure.
Trees not a problem unless road structure or height restriction..

This has to be the most laughable comment when I remember I was studying in NP during mid 90s svc 174 was a full SD svc and I think during mid 2000s then it became partial SD plus DD. Old Jurong Road is full of low branches trees and there is always a NPark to cut trees.
It is such a pity that a short route like sv 49 gets majority DD fleet and a long high loading route like 972 just gets rigids. Sometimes don't understand, when LTA is paying the money for these buses why could it not launch a new service with DDs from BPJ and make SBST operate.
Really unfair to people staying in non-SBST areas.
Its territorial things la ane
My recommendation for DDs on SMRT services between 61 - 190
sv 61 - 0 (introduce sv 61A instead from BBT Int to Commonwealth Dr)
sv 67 - 0 (DDs cannot ply because of Newton - Little India stretch)
sv 75 - 2
sv 77 - 0
sv 106 - 13 (total fleet size: 25 buses w/ 12 rigids)
sv 167 - 3
sv 169 - 19 (total fleet size: 21 buses since huge capacity upgrade with 19 DDs)
sv 171 - 2
sv 172 - 10
sv 173 - 0
sv 176 - 0 (DDs cannot ply because of Henderson Road)
sv 178 - 0
sv 180 - 12 (100% DD fleet)
sv 184 - 16 (100% DD fleet)
sv 187 - 12 (50% DD fleet, huge capacity upgrade from today's fleet)
sv 188 - 16
sv 189 - 12 (almost full fleet DD w/ only 1 rigid)
sv 190 - 34 (total fleet size: 40 buses, huge capacity upgrade)
Putting DD on 184 is just suicide...
Imagine all the students from NP and SIM alighting and subsequent reboarding at Clementi mrt b/s during peak hours. The bus would probably be stuck there for a full 5 minutes.

Probably to encourage the residents to take 49? But, I agree with your statement. How does a 10km route even get 6 DDs and 1 SD, vs 972 with a 37km route which is 3 times longer get only 12 SDs?

Do you realize that is the situation for 106, 189 at Clementi MRT today. When 2 bendies on these services come, so many pax alight and board and they occupy the whole bay, leaving behind a huge queue. The 2 bendies take spaceof 3-4 buses at Clementi MRT stop.
Even if the alighting is faster, the bendy occupies more space at the MRT stop, leaving behind a longer queue of buses, creating more congestion.

That's why i did not comment on 106 or 189 receiving its fair share of DDs. The stop is not a looping point for either of this services, but however it is for 184.
Remember the point is to use the most appropiate bus for the route and loading.
If they blindly put DD like how they blindly put Bendys on services, how would that be a positive change?

Okay. Bendies can stay for 184.

Suggestions lor... what u la... u do the same la...
184 ply most of SBST territories and i feel its much better use DDs.860,962 can maintain bendies...Even 169 also a good candidate for DDs

853 should get full fleet dds even though peak hours not even half full but because it plies most of SBST territories such as serangoon, kallang bahru~ 853C UEC~

If like that might as well give rigids if bus not even half full even during peak hour. Solely defeat the purpose of employing DDs

Eh what?! 61, 176 n 67 no DD..siao la -.-" Hope that LTA go make it possible leh..if not change the road.
172 should get <12m DD(if have), probably 2-axles one.
171 should get 4 DD, 8DD during SITEX fair
169 should just get 14 DD, mixture of bendy n rigids.
184 should just get 10 DD, rest bendy. No Rigids(if not just 1-2).
