My review of 912P: Frequency is reliable, unlike the SMRT operated 912. Some passengers were quite confused about the new service 912P, but the drivers were friendly enough to help. At the interchange, flyers were given to passengers boarding the 912 route.
Looking forward to more PPSS services.
Well, the main point of 912P is for many people living around the neighbourhood along the route since 912 that is heading towards checkpoint might get stuck in unknowing custom jams daily, hence this 912P i guess is not a bad idea...
Originally posted by wsy1234:may as well take over the full route. i think it a matter of time when lta let pte operator take over a feeder service route. maybe let the pte operator take over smrt buses and run the service full time.
Better don't,Long term definitely worsen than SMRT,Pte operators aren't interested in full time public bus svc, resources, manpower etc...Unless they combined with SMRT like SBS last time.
Reason why pte operators buy MIC buses is that the cheaper price and of course European engines and gearboxes...Till now I haven't see any local pte operators buy MIC buses with Chinese engines..

912P is the best among the peak short services. Residents along ave 1 ever have to leave 1-2 buses in am peak to get to WRI plus stop that is near Marsiling is quite a walking distance making people prefer to use WRI.
The service that will be extended to Lor 1 terminal is either 15 or 966 from Marine Parade.
Actually we've gone back to the late 80s era where private operators are allowed to operate peak hour feeders and industrial svc,I remember there's also a few pte operators operate 240A,249A,251A during peak hours at Jurong Interchange and Boon Lay Gardens Terminal last time..
Good or not we shall see the insurance claims if these Pte operators involved in an accident and passengers are injured.

Svc 175 most probably ends at Sims Pl
Svc 980,985,961 the most ends at Sims Pl...Sims place can park at least 6-7 buses
Svc 853 ends at Eunos better..
Will the Lorong 1 Geylang Terminal be void once new NS opens?!
Most National Stadiums(not football stadiums, there is a difference) have a dedicated bus stand
Originally posted by azharjj:After the PPSS services were announced, there will be an upcoming new service (or rather extension of existing service) in Q2 2014
According to the BSEP map (jan-jun 2014 at LTA FB), that extension of existing service will be from kallang/geylang area.
hmm, Lor 1 Geylang terminal? and i wonder what service will that be...
For me, it's more like EUN or Sims Pl. Geylang Fringe is due for redevelopment, IIRC.

Actually, 15/966 can terminate at Parkway Parade... bus/coach bays are there...
But if extended to Lorong 1, bonus coz there will be greater control of bus frequncies and bunching will reduce

Sims Place can expand parking slots...
Eunos duplicates 2,21,26,51,67 and need to add more buses, how about abt to be completed NS?!
There used to be a bus terminal along Stadium Rd..Adding one more will be redundant..The best is Parkway, great for at least 2 svc.Sims Place 11 & 175 can terminate there.Probably 961 & 980 can too.985 can just extend to Eunos till they find a better place to terminate..

Need new bus park near Geylang Lor 1, can be used for GYL1 and 966 buses... Kallang Road or Mountbatten maybe? Geylang Lor 1 Ter can move to beside the Kallang MRT Stn...

I think it would be the latter.

how to the evening like for 912p service? in the early 70s and 80s there were PTE buses taking people to cbd and industrial area number like from toa payoh 21 actually like 152 now 28 or the old 158 to chai chee, 5 to jurong later change to 157, 17 same as 145 11 same 140 to cbd. etc also later has 149 to airport. the the fare is cheaper than sbs by 5 to 10 cents. only operated in peak hour 6am to 9am and evening 1600 to 1930. there still a pte bus service in sambawang area taking people to cbd area even when mrt start to operate. in fact the pte operator using very good euro bus for the service. there was two or three air-con volvo 10bm for that sambawang service to city area. http://sgwiki.com/wiki/Scheme_B_Bus_Routes

may be LTA should bring back some of the scheme b service like 640 and 641 621 and 625 and have it full weekdays operation.

There is a scheme B bus from East Coast Rd to City, 2 trips in the morning > 0.80 ONLY

Frequency is reliable because it didn't went to Checkpoint and the bus doesn't go in/out from Bus park.
And the bus layover either at 1 alighting berth or simply park at the side, opposite berth8.
PC3888R was fully seated by the time it departed Woodlands Reg Int for PM peak.
Rode PC2274H and the engine sounds like Lance.. and 1 bad thing about the buses are the position of ezlink reader, especially the rear door. Passengers can fall easily while tapping the card against the lower reader(mostly used).
I think they shouldn't use coach buses, but city buses...

621 is already in service.
And based on 621's performance, I strongly disagree it operating out of peak hours.
Not coz it performs badly, but it is hard for it to adhere to schedule when it's full day. Besides, demand will definitely not be high.

Can't SMRT just use their own SP rigids for 912P?

I was precisely referring to just that.
That one would be perfect for bus operations after a facelift. It benefits resident at Mountbatten. It also has seamless connection to Stadium MRT and you can get to LPK in less than 5 minutes.

Agreed.
When LTA first introduced this ridiculous gimmick, I only then prayed for one thing: at least they will be using city buses eh?
NO! THEY DIDN'T!!
C'mon, COACH BUSES for TOWNLINKS/INTRATOWNS?! That's got to be a joke. Doesn't solve much problem to me if this is the case. To have so little people seated ins 5 minutes journey? And no standees? Well how intelligent. Especially on short-haul heavy loading routes.

SMRT, please use your own MANs or O405s for this service 912P... Coaches which operate on an SMRT route is really too odd, like having Woodlands Transport coaches on Sentosa bus services, which confuses passengers, as they don't think it is even on service...

Alrernatively the Kinglongs and Yutongs some companies have work okay for these services.

This is when the BSEP decals (the ones on BSEP MAN A22 buses) come in handy.
If private operators are to run the svcs, then they should AT LEAST use these types of buses quite commonly used by POs...
Pictured above is a Kinglong city-coach type bus, though not really 12m but at the very least it can fit more standees (and thus more pax) safely... And much easier boarding and alighting...
