But a fleet add should be justified (perhaps 1 AM-PM, 2 S)
I don't think there are height restrictions... Loading is bi-directional but you don't see very high loading. It is well distributed. Bus will normally get 50-55 pax. A fleet add could be good but currently you have a bus every 12 mins.
We haven't discussed 868 for a very long time... Is it doing well with just two trips, or is it better to have more trips?

Bolded - Really? .__.
The 2 Citaro I've spotted have some trouble picking up 6-8/3-4(first / second bus) pax from first stop, and it's already packed to the door before that..
Originally posted by carbikebus:429E,Although i seldom take buses but i do observed that svc 4 loadings is only 2-3 packed loadings nothing else…It will do well if they add another 2 split duties.I dont think theres a height restriction also..
Did you observed peak hours? Because it was really packed to the doors for these 2 Citaro...should have taken pictures :/
And yes I agreed to adding more buses or upgrade to DD base if the situation is that every peak hours
Originally posted by carbikebus:Yes i have even board but as you also know those LF buses got less seats and even 45-50paxs you will see packed..
Correct, but I did saw 2 of the bus packed to the doors around 6:30-7:10pm. No seats were empty, passengers moved in...
First bus arrive at the first stop, bus was alr packed to the door. 6-8 passengers managed to squeeze up..and the last 2 were at least standing on the "yellow box"..
Next bus arrive, bus was also packed to the door. About 2-3 managed to board. Situation were better unlike the first one I've seen...
Like I've said, should have taken pictures to show...didn't know it was so hard to believe .__.

Based on his logic, he need to see 70 pax at least for a service to deploy DDs...50-55 plus another 10 which did not board is not enough.....lol

I can't remember who asked here whether construction at Changi Business Park Bus Terminal has started, but the answer is no. I walked there yesterday and only saw SUTD construction. The site for the bus terminal was still full of grass and trees.

For a short distance route: yes. Bus should reach at least 65-70 pax, else Sd can manage.
for long distance routes like 27, 39, 161 haven't I earlier said many times that even if bus gets 60 pax better to put DDs on them as people have to stand for long.
You say "upper Aljunied can accommodate DDs" when SBST on its said "no".. But you are smarter than them... When asked then why 100 cannot have DDs, you have no reason to give...
I actually take buses and note the loading levels, so I know better about the loading levels of buses than many of you here! So just zip your mouth.

They would prefer taking Service 136 as it provides faster connection if both buses tend to be back to back, the trend which I have observed last time but not sure for now.
Same goes for Rivervale to Upper Serangoon Road/Kovan area, they would prefer taking Sv 136 unless the frequency screw up or Sv 119 turns up first but if they do so, both services tend meet together at the junction of Upper Serangoon Road/Hougang Ave 7 and 8 junction from what I have observed last time also.
I think Service 82 can consider deploying DD on Sunday AM period or beef up the frequency. From what I have noticed, the loading is quite high and most of the time the bus tend to be fully packed. For commuters who are travelling from Sengkang area to Hougang Mall or Kovan area as it provides a faster and shorter link.
Talking about Sv 80, 82, 119 and 136 (from my observation - I may be wrong)
- From Punggol Road (after TPE) to Kovan Station: Both Sv 82 and 136 can be equally on par regarding the travelling time
- From Sengkang East Way to Upper Serangoon Rd/Kovan: As mentioned above, Sv 136 is faster
- From Punggol Road (Rivervale Plaza and Blk 412) to Upper Serangoon Rd/Kovan: Sv 82 is faster as compared to Sv 80- From Punggol Road (opp Blk 458, Punggol Park) to Upper Serangoon Rd/Kovan: Sv 119 is faster as compared to Sv 80 and 82. Sometimes Sv 82 can be on par with Sv 119. If the former drive faster than the latter.
82 can have T shift DDs on weekends.

Okay. Observe some more. Even I'll observe next time I am in the area. But I agree 5 buses is less. It can lead to sometimes prolonged gap between buses. 1 Citaro should be def added Nd if you observe consistent high load, DD can be added too.

Also observed AM peak at stop before Buangkok Dr on Punggol rd, people cannot board as HG bound bus is already full. Many people along Punggol rd prefer alighting at HG MRT.

I think they have called for tenders

Weekdays or weekends?

27, 39 can't have DDs.
100 does not have fleet restriction.
Just put a stick on top of a SD so that it reaches the same height as a DD. Drive it on service 100 route and see if the stick hits anything.

Weekdays
Originally posted by carbikebus:I think Singapore will be almost like HK..90% DDs once 6.9m is achieved..But again HK is different..they got variants of DDs and even 2 axles ones…Wonder why SBST and SMRT order so many SDs in the first place?SBST should have at least 70% DDs in its fleet..Now almost every svc ppl demand DDs..
Maybe because they expect load to drop once DTL and TSL open. Then there will also be ERL which will take away load from Marine Parade areas.
I just hope they dont go Tokyo style. Its a mesh of overground and metro, with no scope for bus services.

SDs are good for trunk routes and feeders. Other than being more suitable for narrower roads, short-length DDs have found its calling on trunk and feeder routes in HK where demand is too high/inefficient to operate SDs, since not a lot of people will move to the upper deck. Full-length DDs tend to operate on express and longer trunk routes where seating demand is higher and the average commuter journey time is longer.

Untrue. I'll tell you tonight.

If loading were to be spread instead of drop, it would be better...but with Singapore increasing population, I guess both ways of transportation will still be crowded

Eh not quite correct, there are short DDs in use for long routes...
CTB/NWFB/KMB practices it...
