Boarding and Alighting would be at the same bus stop (#22461), which is another plus point because Pioneer Road North is a very busy road and the barrier in between makes it quite impossible for anyone to cross the road. - Pioneer MRT Station is actually nearer than Boon Lay MRT Station, for residents staying at Jurong West Street 61, 71 and 81. However, there is no bus connection (excluding 257) from there to Pioneer MRT Station. 179 and 241 are the only bus services available for them to go to Pioneer MRT Station but only those staying along Pioneer Road North have access to them. Besides, 179 and 241 are usually already packed when they arrive at bus stops #27329, #27309 and #22459. So there is not really a reliable bus connection to Pioneer MRT Station. The proposed new 243 would provide a reliable bus connection to Pioneer MRT Station from Jurong West Street 61, 71 and 81, and make Pioneer MRT Station accessible to residents staying in the inner areas away from Pioneer Road North. This would enable more residents (staying nearer to Pioneer MRT) to benefit from Pioneer MRT Station, and help to reduce crowding levels at Boon Lay Bus Interchange.
[related to enhance bus connectivity within the area]- The proposed new 242 would use the current alignment until the junction at the Telecom building, where it would turn and use the current 243G route and loop at Jurong West Street 81. While providing feeder bus connection to Street 81 from Boon Lay Bus Interchange, the proposed new 242 also provides Street 81 residents with bus connection to Jalan Boon Lay and the cluster of temples along Jurong West Avenue 4. Currently, only Street 91 and 72 residents have bus connection to these areas. (Street 65 residents can get their bus connection to these areas when bus route 49 is extended to Boon Lay Bus Interchange via Jurong West Avenue 2/4 and Jurong West Street 64, which is the shortest route.) Street 72 residents seems to have an excess of bus connection to Jalan Boon Lay and Jurong West Street 76 (cluster of temples). Since there is already bus 99, the section of 242 can be given to Street 81 residents, so that they can also have bus connection to these areas - rationalisation.
- The re-routing of 181 would increase its coverage to residents staying along Jurong West Street 72 (nearer to West Grove Primary School) so that they can have bus connection to Gek Poh Shopping Centre and to Jurong West Avenue 3 - rationalisation. Meanwhile, the re-routed 181 would provide a faster feeder bus connection to Boon Lay Bus Interchange for residents staying along Jurong West Street 72.
- The re-routing of 241 would enhance bus connection between N9 and N6.
Regarding your concern, rest assured that most people would not be affected by the changes to the feeder bus network.In the Gek Poh area, the changes would help to spread out the crowd to more bus stops in the area, so that while 2 bus services complement each other to serve the area, the bus stops would not be so crowded and the roads would not be so congested, especially during peak hours. Also, the re-routing of 181 would increase the service's coverage to areas nearer to West Grove Primary School and connect residents staying at Jurong West Street 72 to Wenya, while provide them a bus connection to Gek Poh Shopping Centre.In Jurong West Street 81, although residents would have to commute on a longer feeder route to Jurong Point, they can have a bus connection to the cluster of temples at Street 76 and Jalan Boon Lay (where they can have faster bus connection to other areas, via transferring to the trunk bus services at Jalan Boon Lay). Meanwhile, with the proposed new 243, their feeder bus connection to MRT would either remain the same or improve. Why would 27 affect? 27 takes one whole big round round Tampines before going to airport. 858 takes none.
I would in fact be more than happy to take 27 to Punggol Rd interchange and change to 858 to CGA.

As people won't mind tansferring one bus to save at least 30 mins of travelling time, if all they need is get out, wait and get on again (wait wont be the least as long as the time sacrificed in Tampines), WITHOUT SPENDING A SINGLE ADDITIONAL CENT (provided your 5-ride journey isn't up yet). And to make up to the loss to Tanpines North residents, special trips can be introduced like HK (rt 6 to Mei Foo in the past). After all not much travel that sector (knew that as I ride 27 everyday) even during peak hours.
So yep, I think 858 will ply that stop.

Can revive 501, however with major overhauls (can consider KPE).
I would like it if it rounds through Sengkang, then down to HG ave 7 via Rivervale and Upp Serangoon Rd and then going onto KPE to city though Tampines Rd exit. What do you all think?

858 will be popular with those SBST 27/34 customers, if this happens! 858 is a really good service for SMRT, like you said, since it is literally an express from Jalan Kayu all the way to CGA! Those O405s really love to speed on the TPE! -

Yes, I see your point. 858 will really benefit people going to CGA as it is express. 27 should just terminate at Tampines Interchange. 27E should be launched at 15 minute frequency with super express sector.

It will have extremely poor loading on account of LRT - also duplication of resources. I would rather prefer the route travels via Anchorvale Road to Sengkang West where 85 plies and comes back via Fernvale Link. Here there is no LRT on middle road.Parallel to the LRT can be a trunk service that leads to YCK road - AMK Ave 3 - AMK Ave 8 - AMK Ave 1... creating new links...

3, 27, 34, 39, 88, 89, 109, 168, 858, 969. Cheers. Overcrowding is definitely not a reason LTA will accept for skipping bus stops. If a bus needs to go that route as part of its journey, it has to stop at bus stops along the way. 86, 161, 965 are out as they do not ply that route.
