Hi. I would like to propose a new bus route at Jurong West (Yunnan), to serve places that have either weak bus connection at this moment, or there is a sustainable demand for such bus connections (but such connections is unavailable). This shall be a trunk bus service. It loops at Jurong West Street 92.

- Boon Lay Bus Interchange
- Jurong West Central 3
- Jurong West Street 64
- Jurong West Avenue 4
- Jurong West Street 72
- Jurong West Avenue 5
- Jurong West Street 82
- Jurong West Street 81
- Jurong West Street 71
- Jurong West Street 61
- Jurong West Street 63 (Pioneer MRT Station)
- Pioneer Road North
- Upper Jurong Road
- Jurong West Street 93
- Jurong West Street 92 (using existing bus stops instead of creating new ones. can also lead to improvement in bus connectivity in the area)
- Jurong West Street 91
- Jurong West Street 93
- Upper Jurong Road
- Pioneer Road North
- Jurong West Street 63 (Pioneer MRT Station)
- Jurong West Street 61
- Jurong West Street 71
- Jurong West Street 81
- Jurong West Street 82
- Jurong West Avenue 5
- Jurong West Street 72
- Jurong West Avenue 4
- Jurong West Street 64
- Jurong West Central 3
- Boon Lay Bus Interchange
- This new bus route would serve the upcoming healthcare facilities at Jurong West Street 93 and Jurong West Street 61 and provide bus connection to them for people staying in the area.
- This new bus route would provide an alternative for people staying in Jurong West Street 93 to commute to Pioneer MRT Station. Currently, they only have a convenient (without having to cross the road, and get wet when it rains) bus access to Pioneer MRT Station in one direction. This new bus route would provide a convenient bus access to the MRT Station in the other direction, thus enabling them a dual convenient bus access to the MRT Station.
- This new bus route would provide a bus access to/fro Pioneer MRT Station for people staying along Jurong West Street 61/71/81.
- This new bus route would provide a bus access to/fro and/or Jurong West Street 81 and Jurong West Street 72 - for people to commute to Westgrove Primary School, Pioneer Primary School or Pioneer Secondary School. In addition, it would provide a bus access for people staying in Jurong West Street 72 to commute to Jurong West Primary School.
- Thus new bus route would complement existing bus routes 241, 243 and 242.
I agree Jurong West St 93 residents need a bus service but your route defeats the purpose. To Pioneer, they can also choose to walk, while some would prefer bus. But not connecting it directly to Boon Lay, you lose out on all the pax who want to go to Boon Lay -mall, services, bus interchange. 241/242/243 do not need an alternative, they are managing load very well. So let's focus on st 93 residents who need service to Boon Lay.

The one I suggested is a trunk route.
I suppose there is also a need for a feeder bus route at Jurong West Street 93.
Thus, let's adapt the western section of what I suggested and create a new feeder bus route:

Thus, let's adapt the western section of what I suggested and create a new feeder bus route:
- Boon Lay Bus Interchange
- Jurong West Central 3
- Jurong West Street 64
- Boon Lay Way
- Jurong West Street 61
- Jurong West Street 63 (Pioneer MRT Station)
- Pioneer Road North
- Upper Jurong Road
- Jurong West Street 93
- Yunnan Crescent
- Jurong West Street 93
- Upper Jurong Road
- Pioneer Road North
- Jurong West Street 63 (Pioneer MRT Station)
- Jurong West Street 61
- Boon Lay Way
- Jurong West Street 64
- Jurong West Central 3
- Boon Lay Bus Interchange
- *This Feeder bus route is 7.12-kilometres in length.
- *When designing Feeder bus route, must consider length. Because Feeder bus are primarily meant as first-and-last means of transport to complement the MRT, and the bus fare is the same regardless of distance (since it is capped at 3.2km), the length cannot be too long. Otherwise it would not be financially sustainable to have this route.
- *It is not wise to have a new feeder route duplicating sections of the existing feeder routes. Otherwise there may be wastage of resources. Hence this new feeder route can only arrive at Pioneer MRT Station via Boon Lay Way. Might as well, since people staying along Boon Lay Way currently do not have feeder bus connection.
- *Likewise, there is no need to loop at Jurong West Street 91 - which may be a redundant duplication of route 241's loop section.
- *This Feeder bus route loops at Yunnan Crescent.
- *For the route to be short, I design the route to loop inside the landed housing area - similar to bus route 42 in Bedok area - might as well provide public bus connection to people staying at Yunnan Gardens , since they currently do not have a direct one.
How about it skips Pioneer and goes directly via Boon Lay Way to Boon Lay Interchange. Pioneer MRT is anyway walking distance and the round about Pioneer is a little unecessary. People will reach Boon Lay MRT in 2 mins more. Also need to consider Pioneer MRT stop does not have more capacity to take new buses.

Well, if this Feeder bus route skips Jurong West Street 63 (Pioneer MRT Station) and goes to Jurong West Street 93 directly via Boon Lay Way, the length will be reduced to 5.9-kilometres.

- This will make it comparable to the existing Feeder bus routes 241(6.2km) and 242 (5.7km).
- Boon Lay Bus Interchange
- Jurong West Central 3
- Jurong West Street 64
- Boon Lay Way
- Upper Jurong Road
- Jurong West Street 93
- Yunnan Crescent
- Jurong West Street 93
- Upper Jurong Road
- Boon Lay Way
- Jurong West Street 64
- Jurong West Central 3
- Boon Lay Bus Interchange
- Since this is a Feeder bus route of Boon Lay Bus Interchange, the number would be in the 24X range. Currently, 240,241,242 and 243 are taken. The next available number is 244. However, it is not auspicious to have the number 4 as the last digit. So let us skip a number to 245 and number this new Feeder bus route 245.
In this day and age, I find it very weird when we say 44 is not auspicious, so we should skip, and keep the number 245. So ulu.
How about a service from the West (Jurong East?) to Changi Airport? Kinda like old 506 when it went all the way to CGA from JE for a while...

Can still do... Just extend 506 to cga instead of terminating at UEC.

Cannot alr lah...
Route too long, wouldn't attract much since its express fares...

So, I guess a semi-express route is better? Like JE > AYE > Keppel Road > Bayfront > Nicoll Highway > ECP > CGA?

Thanks for posting pics... But do you think your proposed 404 will even have 10 pax per bus?

I agree on your suggestion for 168A.. Quite a long walk to Safra bus stop. I propose there could be a feeder service 294 catering to st 91,92. Follow Sv 65 route to Safra and then Sv 22 route back to interchange. 3 citaros should be good enough, and ply it only during operational days and between 7 and 17.00 hours. 1 bus can crossover to sv 29A after operating on 294.

There used to be a peak hour svc 68 between Tampines Int and Tampines Ind Park A (St 92) which was withdrawn some years back due to low demand. If I'm not wrong SBST wanted to withdraw 115 at the same time, but eventually 115 remained. Maybe a similar svc can be re-introduced under BSEP which is not supposed to be profit-based, but depends on whether LTA thinks there is a real need for such a svc.
Good suggestion for 168A, though it should be called 168M since it's a route variant rather than a proper SWT.
SMRT has tried to withdraw or shorten svc 852 in the past as demand can be very low during off peak hours. It is also extensively duplicated by other bus services:
851 (Yishun - Ang Mo Kio - Marymount)
74 (Ang Mo Kio - Marymount - Macritchie - Adam - Bt Timah)
157 (Macritchie - Adam - Bt Timah - Bt Batok)
The main demand for 852 is between the residential areas of Yishun/Ang Mo Kio and the schools along Bt Timah Rd, as it offers a direct connection between these areas. Thus, I propose that 852 be converted to a semi-express service with a non-stop sector between Marymount Rd (after Bishan St 22) and Adam Rd, for a faster connection between Yishun/Ang Mo Kio and Bt Timah.
It will use Macritchie viaduct to bypass the section of Upp Thomson Rd and Lornie Rd near Macritchie reservoir, to avoid the congestion during peak hours. Alternative travel options to/from the express sector (Marymount - Macritchie - Adam) are as follows:
Yishun/Ang Mo Kio - Marymount: 851
Yishun - Macritchie/Adam: 855
Ang Mo Kio - Macritchie/Adam: 851 x-fer 74
Marymount - Macritchie - Adam: 74
Marymount - Bt Timah: 74
Marymount - Bt Batok: 74 x-fer 157/852
Macritchie - Bt Timah: 74/157 or 52 (to Jln Anak Bukit/Beauty World)
Adam - Bt Timah: 74/157
Macritchie/Adam - Bt Batok: 157
Most of these connections have a direct bus alternative, thus not too many commuters will be affected by such a change.

I like your suggestion. 852 is just an alternative and loading can be extremely low because people don't trust this service. I have ever seen people preferring 74 than 852 even though 852 is relatively empty and 74 comes crowded from Ngee Ann. Putting semi express, will give 852 a value proposition that it lacks today.

Two suggestions:
164: let's not ply it via WDL ave 3 - already many services. Prefer if it can do WDL st 11 instead. I would also suggest it starting at Sembawang then passing through Admiralty and coming down WDL ave 2 will provide new connections where people would not have to go to WDL int.
984: prefer route starting from Clementi instead and not Jurong as latter is connected by MRT.
SBS Transit Trunk 149:
(Toa Payoh Int <--> Changi Village Ter)

Number:
Please consider majority operator of terminal when suggesting routes. Other than bukit merah and the old boon lay, sbs and smrt tend to not share office and rest facilities with each other, so 984 should be sbst.
852 route has to be reconsidered before dwn twn line 2 opens as botanic gardens will be an interchange between circle and dtl and will eat into 852 business.
Not sure abt lorong halus, but a public bus shld operate in pasir ris farms area because of the distance between the farms, pasir ris camp from the main roads. Same for lck area as well. Can operate like the concept of 191 and 927 prior to bsep with with more time between runs.
