When Buangkok interchange comes up, we will see but I am hoping to see these route amendments to Buangkok interchange.
84 to Punggol road end via Sengkang west way, Punggol west, Punggol road.
153 to Bukit Merah via Buangkok dr, upper serangoon rd, HG ave 7, HG ave 5, upper serangoon rd (without calling HG interchange)
113 to Upper Paya Lebar rd via sengkang east ave, upper Serangoon rd, HG ave 8 (without going to HG interchange)
xxx feeder service from buangkok interchange to IMH, Buangkok link and back

I have fedback 113's route extension to future Buangkok Interchange but their reply was as a result, 113 will skip 2 bus stops and it will cause inconvenience for commuters that are boarding 113. Commuters [From Upp Serangoon View] can transfer to Sv 113 at hougang ave 8.

Anyway... No point discussing now... Still long time for buangkok int to open... By then better sense may prevail..
Originally posted by 201911:For jurongwestresident's proposed extension of 181, good connection between bulim, boon lay and taman jurong, but off peak and weekend loading towards the industrial area at tukang would likely be quite low. maybe can operate similar to 98/98M.
I agree that the loading to the industrial areas at Bulim and Tukang will only be high during peak hours, especially on a new bus service, since there are already bus services (181,185 and 246) serving the perimeters of these areas.
Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:Yes makes sense to have Sv 181 extended and as you rightly mentioned.. Should be like 98/98M... 181/181M.
Similar to the industrial areas, I think the demand for a direct intra-town bus connection between Bulim, Boon Lay and Taman Jurong would most probably only be high during peak hours, since only a few groups of people (eg. Students, Teachers, People working near their homes, etc.) travel intra-town.
Originally posted by Pervertedboy:Sorry, but I do not think it is wise to provide the intra-town bus connections with an extension of bus 181.
- + From the perspective of the people staying along the current 181 route, the distance travelled on your proposed extended route is actually longer than the distance currently travelled with a transfer made at boon lay bus interchange;
- + Besides the availability of seats, there is no incentive for them to commute on the extended 181 to other parts of Jurong West.
- Case 1: Gek Poh Shopping Centre to Jurong Secondary School (#21759)
- *current (243W/181 [from #27389] & 154 [from bus int]) - 5.8km
- *on extended 181 (from #27381, at blk749) - 7.65km (1.85km longer)
- Case 2: Gek Poh Shopping Centre to Jurong JC
- *current (185 [from #27439 (blk861) to #21169]) - 2.4km
- *current (99 [from #27349 (blk745) to #28539 (after the petrol station)] - 3.2km
- *on extended 181 [from #27381 (blk749) to #21169] - 3.89km (0.69km longer)
- Case 3: blk 272 to Jurong Secondary School
- *current {199 [from #27099, next to blk271 MSCP] & 30 [from bus int to #21579 (at the back gate)]} - 5.6km
- *current {199 [from #27099, next to blk271 MSCP] & 154 [from bus int to #21759 (at Fairway Country Club)]} - 6.0km
- *on extended 181 (from #27459 at blk273B to #21759 at Fairway Country Club) - 6.51km (0.51km longer)
- Case 4: Jurong East MRT to blk 272
- *current (MRT to Boon Lay & 199 to #27091 at Sheng Siong) - 6.6km
- *on extended 181 (MRT to Lakeside & 181 to #27451 at blk271A) - 7.56km (0.96km longer)
- Case 5: Boon Lay to Westwood Secondary School (likewise for the flats along Jalan Bahar)
- *current (99 to Jalan Boon Lay [#21371] and transfer to 199/172 to #27101) - 2.6km (from the furthest bus stop in boon lay[#21451])
- *with extended 181 (from #21451 to WWSS, assuming there will be a bus stop near the main gate and the eatery at blk276 MSCP) - 2.9km (0.3km longer)
- Case 6: Taman Jurong to Westwood Secondary School
- *current (154 to bus int and 199 to WWSS) - at most 7.4km (from #21551; southernmost section)
- *current (178 to bus int and 199 to WWSS) - at most 5.8km (from #21181; southernmost section)
- *with extended 181 (to the imaginary new bus stop) - at most 9.7km (from #21559; southernmost section)(2.3km longer)
- Case 7: blk 276C to Jurong Secondary School (#21759)
- *current (181 [from #27461, across the road] & 154 [from bus int]) - 7.0km
- *on extended 181 (from #27469, just next to blk276C) - 6.28km (0.72km shorter)
- Case 8: Jurong East MRT to blk 276C
- *current (MRT to Boon Lay & 181 to #27469 at blk 276C) - 7.9km
- *on extended 181 (MRT to Lakeside & 181 to #27461 across the road) - 4.45km (3.45km shorter)
- + The only people who will benefit are those who stay along Jurong West Street 25 and people working in Bulim Industrial area.
- + Whereas for people working in Tukang Industrial area, there is already 246 and people who work at areas nearer to the expressway can actually walk around 0.5-0.8km from the bus stops at Jalan Tukang.
- + For the people in Boon Lay, there is bus service 199/172 at Jalan Boon Lay and 185 at Corporation Road to Bulim. Besides, there is now bus service 240P to/from Lakeside MRT station during peak hours.
Alternatively, we could
- + Extend bus service 181 to Bulim Industrial area and simply loop there.
- + Extend bus service 49 to go around Boon Lay and then go into Bulim Industrial area and terminate there (might as well, since this bus service will be managed by Bulim bus depot in future).
Well, Mr Pervertedboy is correct. There is no doubt that this extended 181 is no shorter/faster/cheaper alternative to the combinations of bus services that people in Jurong West take to travel from one part of the town to another. Since there is no incentive, there is likely to be minimal demand for it.
To think about it, I think it is better to have it as an entirely new bus service, rather than make it an extension of 181.
Since this bus service would only be of high demand during peak hours and the crowd would move in a particular uniform direction, I suggest this bus service only operates during peak hours and runs only in one direction.
To optimise resources, we can simply modify the route of 240P and extend it at both ends to Bulim and Tukang respectively, and make it a new peak period bus service altogether.
In the morning, this bus service starts at Bulim Street and ends at Tukang Innovation Drive.

- Bulim Street
- Bulim Avenue
- Corporation Road
- Boon Lay Avenue
- Boon Lay Drive (along River Valley High School)
- Boon Lay Drive
- Corporation Road
- Boon Lay Way (Lakeside MRT Station)
- Yuan Ching Road
- Yung Ho Road
- Jalan Tukang
- Tukang Innovation Drive
In the morning, this bus service starts at Bulim Street and ends at Tukang Innovation Drive.
- * People staying along Jurong West Avenue 3 can walk across the grass patch (there is a pavement linking Jurong West Street 22 and Bulim Street) and take the bus at Bulim Street, to get to Jurong Junior College, Lakeside MRT Station, Yuan Ching Secondary School, Jurong Secondary School or the Tukang Innovation Park.
- * People staying at Boon Lay can use this bus service to get to Lakeside MRT Station, Yuan Ching Secondary School, Jurong Secondary School or the Tukang Innovation Park.
- * People working in Tukang Innovation Park can alight at Lakeside MRT and take this bus to their work place.
In the evening, this bus service starts at Tukang Innovation Drive and ends at Bulim Street, for people to go home.
Why not make this bus service run in both directions, so that it also goes from Taman Jurong to Boon Lay and Bulim in the morning?
Unlike your previous suggestion, it is actually shorter (6.6km) to commute on this direct peak period bus service between Bulim and areas along Yuan Ching Road, than to commute 7.4km on 154&199. More so for Boon Lay, which is nearer to Taman Jurong. There will be a strong demand for this peak period bus service to go to Boon Lay and Bulim from Taman Jurong in the morning.
Likewise, this peak period bus service should also run in both directions in the evening, for people staying in Boon Lay and Taman Jurong to go home from Bulim and Boon Lay.

- When the Bulim industrial area is developed, there is going to be a large number of people working there, that having only bus 181 looping there is probably not enough to cater to the people going to Bulim industrial area to work every morning.
- There are students from River Valley High School and Westwood Secondary School who stay in Taman Jurong and Boon Lay. They have to travel to Boon Lay and Bulim from Taman Jurong and Boon Lay every morning.

Hi mr Busanalyser, since 5 and 5e are to co-exist albeit have different frequencies, we can make many express sectors to 5e leh.
Pasir ris int
Pasir ris dr 3
Tampines rd (express)
Upper changi road north
Simei road
Simei st 3
Simei ave
PIE (express)
Express all the way till scotts rd
Then follow all stops to bukit merah
As for the rest of the skipped roads, people can still take sbs 5. The journey time will not be too long due to the fact that roads skipped are those in the middle. People can still visit central singapore fast. Cheers.
Do we need a JE - Sembawang service?

Proposal sv 380
Punggol Interchange
Punggol Central (near blk 303B)
Punggol Rd (near blk 301A) need an alternative for 84 here to get to the interchange, so this service will help
Punggol Drive (Damai, Oasis)
Edgefield Plains (Blk 637A*, Greendale Pri School*, Blk 138*^, Blk 109A*, Blk 174A*, Blk 636A*) and back to interchange.
* 6 new stops
^ looping point
1. Provide direct MRT connection to Edgefield Plains HDBs and schools that do not have a bus connection and LRT/bus stop nearby.
2. Alternative to sv 84 along Punggol Rd to get to Punggol Interchange/MRT (clearly not walking distance, yet people have been left to take sv 84 with 20 minute frequency)

Hi mr BusAnalyser, route is wrongly planned. New stops are at edgefield plains. So not possible to pass by oasis LRT at Punggol drive. The route you suggest is for edgedale plains since you mentioned greendale primary school and blk 138 which are at edgedale plains. Edgefield and edgedale plains are 2 different areas. Think you can amend your route again. Cheers

Hi mr smb128B, I tried before. 45 min from pasir ris. No choice you have to delete the bedok and kaki bukit sector for bus 5e. Or else the route is equivalent to non-express. Cheers.

I like the route, but you might need a M variant of this route, as off-peak plying the service to Joo Koon would mean empty buses and waste of resources.
