I have heard that Sv 84 is reserved for future extension to Sengkang/Buangkok area via Punggpl west in future.

Hi mr TIB429E, a bit redundant now that the west LRT side is opening soon. Good point is that you have considered those HDB flats along Punggol way (west side) but then the developments still too little to support a bus service. So West LRT (3 stations) has achieved its objective.

Wouldn't it have been more economical to have bus rather than LRT when development still so little? The operational cost wise difference is huge.

Should 194 be replaced by 251M?

Not a bad idea. 194 can be used for future Boon Lay service.

no choice. viaduct and stations build already.

rather than demolish it (straightaway), we should have it operational to collect some revenue.

    unless demolishing it is cheaper.

Hi mr busAnalayser, yes economy of scale is very important. Thus when only HDB flats near soo teck LRT are up few years ago, they did not open soo teck LRT. They leave it closed. Instead, they made sbs 43 stop at one more pair of bus-stop along Punggol way at soo teck LRT. They also increased sbs 43 frequency which was used as a feeder service to get home from Punggol mrt. As time goes by, sbs 119 is extended from sengkang to Punggol to serve this group of people at Punggol sapphire along Punggol field.

Situation has changed now and since more flats have finished, the possibility of re-routing sbs 43 is not very feasible. Introducing a bus service soley for these residents will come much later after the plan to finalise fhe roads is up. Meanwhile, to keep holding back the West LRT from collecting service revenue is also not feasible since flats around the 3 stations are ready. Thus they decide to open finally after more than 14 years. Meanwhile in view of low crowds, they make it uni-direction and also reduced frequency of 8 mins. This is what they do to other developing areas in sengkang west initially.

In early yr 2016, when the 57 million safra Punggol is up, the Sam kee LRT station which is just besides it will be made functional too. Cheers.

Hi mr jurongwestresident, nobody builds an LRT to demolish. The developments are all coming up and they will be very useful one fine day. Cheers.

Ok makes sense. Though re-routing sv 43 would also be helpful in addition to LRT because many of these people would want to travel to Sengkang area, and can do it without LRT --> MRT or LRT --> bus. It will only be adding 1-2 buses to sv 43, but will be worth it, I guess.

Hmm not bad...But honestly speaking, the BSEP fleet add at this time is abit wasting..unless the BSEP buses is a 9.8m Dennis Dart size.

However, I think 84 should ply that area and maybe not the LRT. The Punggol LRT seems rather dead infact, only during peak hours.(Correct me if I'm wrong)

I would rather it gets extend to CCK/BPJ. At least there's 927 towards 3 further attractions. Tourist can save $$ and travel on public transport.

I dont like how the Punggol LRT is organised. The stations are 1 bus stop away! Waste time sia if the LRT moves for 20-30 secs then stop agn. Like Kadaloor and Oasis. It's only 400m away.

I would want 84 to serve the deeper part of Punggol Seventeenth Ave where the restaurants like Sakura Buffet is located at. It is a long walk from the nearest 84's bus stop and the LRT station (Punggol Point). Punggol Point isnt even opened yet. So far only people with cars would go to Punggol Seventeenth Ave to makan and the place is a favourite hotspot for Taxi Drivers.

It is much better to walk from Nibong LRT then Punggol Rd IMO. 17th Ave is really dark at night time. And near the marina is a bridge to Palau Punggol, and a park connector connects these two places.

Hi mr SBS5010P, almost every LRT station is 400 to 500 metres away.

Yes everybody wants sbs 84 to go inside Punggol 17th ave but then I think it is not going to happen!

Currently, if one does not want take cab or walk in from sbs 84 bus stop, one needs to go to the bus stop opposite sengkang mrt. There is free shuttle bus every half hour to Punggol marina country club to go to sakura Punggol and other F & B. Cheers.

Editing 84 is not a bad idea... again why be so rigid with ideas.. 84 really does not serve much around Punggol road today...

Joyride a few times on 84..can say each trip is about 10-30ppl.

    84 should start from Sengkang

43 is already a long route (like 62). Better if you introduce a new service.

84 should be merged with another service. Stupid idea by SBST to split 82 into 2 services.

How to do this? If you do this, which bus service will serve Punggol road end?

Hi mr SBS3004X, the new serangoon interchange does not have enough space. Thus sbs 82 was changed to loop at serangoon central. Because of this, it was made to start at punggol int. Not possible leave it as it is to have 2 looping points, right? Cheers.
