Hi mr lftwo1993, you can take sbs 50 from fernvale to sengkang east way, cross road and take sbs 159 or 161 or mrt to hougang depending on which part of hougang you want to go to. Cheers!

Or walk to YCK road and take 854!

Some people take sbs 103 from serangoon to yio Chu Kang road off seletar hill estates and walk across to some blocks near fernvale. Some took sbs 103 further up to Jalan Kayu (Jalan Kayu shop house or before seletar west farm way 4) and walk across to those HDB blocks. All depend on which HDB block. If those near main roads, definitely much faster! Still within walking distance although most people prefer not to walk a bit. Cheers.

Hi mr SMB128B, yes you are right. Smrt 854 also can and is much faster. But I am just worried not every person can walk this distance to take sbs 854 along yio Chu Kang road. Those on the brink of the blocks sure no problem. Those deep inside may have to take sbs 50 out to transfer to smrt 854. Cheers.

When the term "Fernvale" comes I'll automatically assume that the concerned area is the central area where the LRT station and Fernvale Plaza is situated at.
Walking distance max 15 mins. Most should be okay with that under optimal weather conditions but those who cannot then too bad

861 (number can be changed) – Sembawang > Jurong East
Sembawang Int
Sembawang Drive
Sembawang Crescent
Admiralty Drive
Canberra Road
Canberra Link
Yishun Ave 2
Yishun Ave 3
Sembawang Road
Mandai Ave
Mandai Road
BKE
KJE
Choa Chu Kang Drive
Choa Chu Kang Ave 4
Choa Chu Kang Ave 1
Teck Whye Lane (reuse bus stops)
Teck Whye Ave
Choa Chu Kang Road
Bukit Batok Road
Jurong Town Hall Road
Jurong East Central
Jurong East Int
Reasons:
- Helps to bring direct connection from CCK to JE, with a better frequency than 160 which is irregular and can have erratic frequencies.
- Helps to bring a new connection from Sembawang and Yishun to CCK and JE (north to west)
- Serves CCK Ave 4 for 300, CCK Ave 1 for 172 and Teck Whye Lane to reuse previous stops on 307
Possible changes:
- Can be amended to Yishun Ave 7
- Can be amended to CCK North 5 (via Woodlands Road) to help 307
- Can be amended to serve BBT to give direct connection to JE.
Any suggestions? ![]()

Hi SMB128B, yes walking time from fernvale lrt to the yck rd bus stop is about 15 mins. Not everyone has the patience to wait for service 50, which has really horrible frequencies at times.
Depending on your luck, waiting times for service 50 is usually about 8-17 mins but can be as long as >20 mins.

Hi mr lftwo1993, i am not trying to be mean or whatsoever. Please dont misunderstand. I have taken sbs 50 so many times and the maximum waiting time is 12 min. Most of the times, the frequencies are much better. I have never waited > 20 min. Either the earlier bus has just left the stop or 2 buses bunch together or your luck is simply bad. So actually to take sbs 50 at fernvale to transfer to smrt 854 at yio chu kang road is about equivalent or slightly faster than walking from fernvale lrt to yio chu kang road. Cheers!!!!!

Hmmm, make it ply Bukit Batok West Ave 5 to serve Bukit Gombak MRT? Currently no link from Bukit Gombak to ITE West Campus.

Guess it's just my luck then...nope I am not offended or anything don't worry! I hope there's a direct bus to hougang central from fernvale in the near future though

Hougang Ctrl, Ave 4, Buangkok Green, YCK Rd
Currently, that section of Ave 4, between Buangkok Rd and Ave 9 do not really have a direct route to Hougang. I am guessing that this is also the cause of the high loading on 109 from Serangoon to Hougang. Especially a Circle Line user. By the time a commuter transfer lines, go to Hougang, and prepare to transfer to either 101 or 161, the one at Serangoon may already reach Serangoon North, or at least the bus have arrived. If the Hougang commuter got lucky and 161/101 arrived immediately, 101/161 and 109 may reach Ave 4 at the same time. If not, 109 will most likely reach there first.
This is because both 101 and 161 turn to serve other parts of Hougang before heading to Hougang MRT. If this is implemented, it will reduce loading on 70/103 at YCK Rd and Buangkok Green commuters have an alternative to 43/325
Not true. 161 is quite direct from HG MRT to HG Ave 4. But if you travel by CCL, taking 109 would make sense. NEL, take 161 ofcourse.

Since you asked me to suggest a route from Hougang to Fernvale, this would be my route:
Hougang Interchange
Hougang Ave 5
Hougang Ave 7
Upper Serangoon Road
Buangkok Drive
Sengkang Central (Buangkok MRT)
Sengkang East Ave
Sengkang West Ave
Fernvale Road
Sengkang East Way
Jalan Kayu
Sengkang West Ave & back to Hougang Interchange
** Provides alternate link to HG Ave 7 and Upper Serangoon road residents to HG MRT (112 and 62 are only other options)
** New stops along Buangkok Dr connect to Buangkok MRT
** People can alight at Buangkok MRT and take bus to sengkang east/west ave/fernvale road
# If I have to propose route starting from Hougang this is what I would do. For those who want to go to ave 4 or ave 9, can take sv 50 and crossover to sv 72/88 at AMK Ave 5 or to ave 2 can crossover to sv 854.

Hi mr busAnalayser, route is good and quite unique but for this to be implemented, one bus service at hougang interchange has to be kicked out or extended to other int because there is basically no space left. Cheers.

Thanks for your suggestion! I think that your suggestion is good, because Bukit Batok West Ave 5 seriously needs a bus service other than 945 (and 868 in AM peak)...

Am I the only one who thinks that this service can also start from Hougang St 21 (115 start/end)?

Only if they make a proper terminal there - not enough bus bay. If that happens, I would divert 325 to HG St 21 terminal to make space in HG Interchange. The loop of 325 from HCI to HG Ave 2 and back to HG MRT on ave 10 is totally redundant.

Possible - can extend sv 325 to HG St 21 terminal by making more bus bays there. Or can merge 107 and 82 what we have been asking for, and with that 107 will move to Punggol interchange, making space in HG.
One more alternative: have 113 start at Serangoon interchange and loop around kovan and back.

I think the route can be considered next year, there will be quite a few commercial developments completed along the route by then.

If there is no space in Hougang Ctrl Int, why not ply this way?
Hougang Ctrl(outside Int)>Ave 4(outside Polyclinic)>Ave 10>Hougang Ctrl(express)>Hougang Ctrl(opp Int)
This way Hougang residents residing along Ave 7 & 5 will have access to the Hougang Polyclinic & the Hougang Sports Complex(within walking distance) as well.
113 can just extend to buangkok int.. No need to cut short really. 113 and 62 serves a very important role at hougang.
