Route Suggestions (Part 5)

  In my opinion, I think LTA should create the following kinds of bus route:

  1. bus routes that provide alternative routes (eg. via connecting to another MRT station) to heavily utilised sections of Public Transport.
  2. 
     
  3. bus routes that substitute the MRT by providing a connection that is faster than what MRT is providing (eg. Pioneer to Bukit Panjang, via expressway).
  4. 
     
  5. bus routes that complement the MRT and feeder bus routes to divert traffic (eg. combine feeder routes of different towns together, connect via expressway, and make it a new trunk route) from the MRT and feeder bus routes.
  6. 
     
  7. express bus routes that behave like MRT and only stop once every two/three kilometres (best is to only stop one or two times in a town that it serves), charging fares equivalent to MRT.

  Considering the route, there would need to be better fleet management.

  261 - reduce 1 bus (given 264 will take part of its load)

  262 - reduce 1 bus (given 262 will take part of its load) 

  263 - 3 buses

  264 - 3 buses

  The 6 buses should be interchangeable bet 263/264 requiring only 2 parking slots.

  Other than just suggesting new routes, why not let's talk about possible route amendments as they also fit the description of 'suggested route changes'?

  Do you all think that some Yishun bus services will be amended to ply the new Yishun Polyclinic (like 853) once they are all relocated to the temporary interchange?

  I would think that makes sense. Apart from 853, should have 39, 85, 852, 855 do Yishun Polyclinic. 

  Also would be good to see 852 do ring road before hitting Yishun ave 2 again to reduce duplication with 851 and add more uniqueness to the route.

  Well...I think there was suppose to be a Fast Forward 100e introduced back in 2006 because I saw its route details on the information panel at a bus stop back then...can't remember what the route is though. Might have been scrapped eventually.

  23e (straight into PIE after Ave 5, like back in early 90s, 3 morning, 3 evening)

  Do you think once the Yishun Temporary Interchange commence operations, some 85x series will still use the long winding route to ply Yishun Ctrl before Yishun Ave 2? Don't forget the interchange exit is completely based at Yishun Ctrl 1.

  feeders and 860 will still head to the ave 9 exit.

  856, 859 will out via Yishun Central

  853 will skip the bus stop aft Northpoint

  851, 852, 854 and 855 will skip bus stop opp blk 757 and will call at the bus stop before Yishun station before heading to int

  all feeders will skip bus stop aft Northpoint or os northpoint

  811 will also skip the bus stop opp blk 757 and call at the new bus stop before yishun station.

  to add on; I remembered the PTC actually approved several FFw services years back but none materialised eventually. Don't know why.. One of them I remembered was 170e? FFw services if utilised properly will increase efficiency, provide shorter travel time and generate extra revenue. And I don't think the operators need to add extra buses. only pull out some to become FFw will do.

  They need to do something with 859. Major duplication w/ sv 856. My proposal is that 859 does the entire west part of ring road in one direction to Khatib and come back up via Yishun ave 2 to Yishun ave 5.

  Yup... 859 is like 856A... hence needs a route change... or route extension to new Yishun town... otherwise pretty redundant service.

  SWT 8A - Hopefully shift the pax that cannot enter 8 to not enter an express bus (518) in a bid to free up more pax to take 518 (518's full load is from Blk 302 - TP during AM peak). No SWT for Eunos side (bus there bunch quite a bit, but normally, an empty bus will catch up soon enough to take stranded pax)

  SWT 28A - Reduce the pax that always board 28 or 67. Think of it as a Bedok feeder

  SWT 69A - Designed to collect pax stranded by full buses from Bedok Reservoir, as it is the only service there that goes to TP. And to help in the unstable frequency from Bedok
