right, i forgot about 34. 39 terminates at Tampines. 34 passes through Tampines to head towards CGA. you are more likely to get seats on 39 than on 34.

but again Pasir Ris and Punggol are served by 3 as well

My trip sounds closer to the existing extension of 103.
I was thinking also it can serve Yishun Ave 1, Yishun Ave 4, Yishun Central, Yishun Ave 2

I agree that 506 should be extended to Joo Koon. (Maybe not to Tuas, since I can change to 182 now or the MRT in the future)
I live in Bedok and go to NTU every day so I appreciate an alternative route other than MRT or svc 30.
My suggestion for svc 506 extension: Link
Reason:
- The bus is quite empty between Jurong East and Bukit Batok Central. If it's extended to Jurong West, the capacity will be well utilised. (It's faster to travel between Jurong East and Bukit Batok on the MRT anyway.)
- Jurong West lacks an express service to Central/Eastern Singapore (Express 502 doesn't feel like an express service, with so many stops along Jurong East/West Avenue 1 and so many traffic lights between IMM and Orchard)
- Direct and fast access to the Jurong industrial region for residents of Bukit Batok, Toa Payoh and Bedok
-----------------------------------------------
Another route suggestion: Express 507 (Boon Lay - Tampines)
Boon Lay Interchange
Jurong West Central 1
Jalan Boon Lay
Jurong West Avenue 2
PIE (non-stop)
Upper Bukit Timah Road
Bukit Timah Link
PIE (non-stop)
Jalan Toa Payoh
Lorong 2 Toa Payoh (Toa Payoh + Braddell MRT)
Lorong 1 Toa Payoh
Lorong 6 Toa Payoh
Braddell Road (non-stop)
Bartley Road (Bartley MRT only)
Bartley Road East (non-stop)
Tampines Avenue 10 (non-stop)
Tampines Avenue 1
Tampines Avenue 4
Tampines Avenue 5
Tampines Interchange
Return journey is the same, except that it stops at Jalan Anak Bukit instead of Upper Bukit Timah Road and Bukit Timah Link
Route suggestion for 507: Link
Reason:
- Boon Lay/Jurong West lacks an express service to Central/Eastern Singapore
- Fast service to/from Bukit Timah (connection to Hillview, SIM and Ngee Ann Poly)
- More options for residents along the northern portion of Lorong 2 Toa Payoh
- Fast service to/from Bartley MRT (connection to Circle Line)
- Fast service to/from Temasek Poly
- More options for residents along Tampines Avenue 4
How about a new svc 861 from Yishun to Seletar Aerospace Park?

Route revision to Service 66, at JE and BBT:
Rationale:
By now, I guess I have made my point clear, that to provide updated connections, a better way is to revamp bus networks. First start with working on a new set of Feeder bus network, then connect-the-dots with Trunk bus routes. In my opinion, I feel that this should be the way to go. Somehow, I guess that it may even enable us to use less number of buses if we do it this way instead.

One problem I can forsee about this kind of feeder planning is complaints about loss of links. The original plan of svc 300, 301 and 983 is kind of similar to yours (except 983 is a bit useless), but we all know what happened. If the feeders are revamped in the way that you suggested, there will be many complaints like those of CCK Ave 5 residents. Even those who don't take svc 333 usually will start complaining about loss of direct service to IMM etc.
that's when trunk routes come in, to provide the loss connections.
with regards to the connection to IMM, there's still 99, 990. otherwise, people staying at street 32 still can meet their shopping needs and wants at JEM, Westgate, JCube and Big Box. Soon, there will be a elevated walkway from JE MRT to IMM. so, I do not think there's much of an impact.
if there is a demand for the loss connections, we can create a new trunk bus route to provide it. again, that's when trunk bus routes come in.
some of the feeders i suggested may even reduce loadings on some trunk routes significantly. i foresee some adjustments of trunk bus routes, removal of some trunk bus routes, creation of new trunk routes, along the way if new sets of feeder routes are created.
it's now 2015. when bus plans were created, it was around 1980. three decades on, every town (the layout) is different. new towns are created. new MRT lines are up. new roads are built. travel pattens have changed. etcetera. I think it's time for an update of bus plans.
