Residential areas having weak/no bus connection to nearest MRT Station:
Bukit Gombak MRT Station - areas near Dunearn Sec and Dazhong Pri.
Bukit Batok MRT Station - areas near Yusof Ishak Sec (no buses at minor road).
There was once I was on bus 174 during peak hours and the bus was jammed at Bukit Batok East Avenue 3. LTA should avoid this road and use alternative routes for this new bus route, since this road is already packed.
Here's what I guess the new route would be like:
Length = 5.4km
If this new route passes by SBS Transit's bus depot, it would be ideal if this new service is operated by SBS Transit, so that fresh buses can be easily deployed to the service.
Personally, I feel that there are already too many bus routes in Bukit Batok (East). May I know what is the maximum number of bus services allowed to serve one bus stop?
Unless, the new feeder bus route is at Bukit Batok West or Bukit Gombak...
All these can go under Route Suggestions.
Same like Route Suggestions [West]

True?
134 nope,Cos they say CCK to AMK so false,LTA banned cross island routes.
Personally, I feel that MRT Stations such as Pioneer, Chinese Garden, Bukit Gombak and Yew Tee are meant to complement MRT Stations such as Boon Lay, Jurong East, Bukit Batok and Choa Chu Kang.
Yet, they are not utilised to their potential - especially Chinese Garden (2 bus routes) , Bukit Gombak (1 bus route) and Yew Tee (2 bus routes).
Pioneer currently has 4 bus routes. After Joo Koon Bus Interchange opens, I think 1 bus route will be removed from the bus stops(#22529 and #22521). So there may be space for 2 more bus routes in the long run - 1 more bus route in the short run. Maybe an additonal bus route at Pioneer would maximise its potential.
On second thought, I think Bukit Gombak is designed to serve the future area of Bukit Batok and Tengah. So it is acceptable for it to be under-utilised now.
Nonetheless, the area around Chinese Garden is built up for so long already and yet, until now, the station is still pretty much under-utilised. If utilised to its potential, Chinese Garden can help to relieve the traffic off Jurong East MRT Station.
Meanwhile, at Jurong East MRT Station, there are feeder bus routes to all parts of Jurong East, except Teban Gardens area.
It is funny how there can be feeder services going to Jurong West housing areas from Jurong East MRT Station, when there are still housing areas in Jurong East that do not have feeder connection to the MRT station.
I mean, shouldn't the Jurong East housing areas be the primary catchment of Jurong East MRT Station, then followed by Jurong West, Bukit Batok and Clementi as secondary catchment?
Assuming that every HDB area must have feeder bus connection to MRT, I think the next Jurong East feeder bus route would serve Teban Gardens area.

To think about it, actually, there are already plenty of bus services at Teban Gardens.
but there is just no feeder bus connection to Jurong East from Teban Gardens...
I would want to suggest a new feeder bus route to Teban Gardens but I am concerned about whether or not an additonal bus service at Teban Gardens may have a negative impact on the traffic conditions at Teban Gardens.
actually, in my opinion, this may be a result of wasteful duplication of bus routes. As a result of duplication, roads are already full and cannot accomodate new bus routes. really ä¼¤è„‘ç‹ sia...
besides BSEP, I think the government should re-draw bus routes, especially since it wants to "ban" marathon bus routes and have hubs-and-spokes system for our Public Transport. So that there can be less route duplications and better bus connectivity to places.
I believe the government has a computer software that they can use to plan bus routes.
A computer software that can simulate traffic flow, traffic conditons on the roads, crowding conditions, etc.
But I am just not sure why they do not want to really take advantage of the computer software and re-draw bus networks, to improve the bus connectivity, such as ensure that every HDB area has feeder bus connection at least to a MRT station (not even to the nearest MRT station).
Just saying.

Nonetheless, there should still be some marathon bus routes, to complement the MRT.
Otherwise, if everyone use MRT for long-distance travel, the MRT would be very packed.

415 from Yew Tee to Serangoon NEX can.

I think the most priority is to re-draw some routes that shows how the fuck they are since the MCE can get choked enough.

There should be a proper definition to distinct 'Feeder', 'Trunk' and 'Marathon' bus routes. As in, there should be specific lengths prescribed for every category.
Because "ban"-ing 'Marathon' bus routes does not mean "ban"-ing bus routes that "duplicate" the MRT.
well, I know the length of 'Feeder' is in the range of 1.7km(eg. 284) to around 15.4km(eg. 240). 'Trunk' should be around 20/30km(eg.98/99). 'Marathon' should be beyond 30km(eg. 30)...
Anyway, there should be a proper definition to define 'Feeder', 'Trunk' and 'Marathon'.
Otherwise, it is quite hard to plan long-distance bus routes, while preventing it from being a 'Marathon' bus route.

cannot classify it under marathon as i shorten the route and 2nd option is 198 merge with27?
How come got Marathon? So creative ah
I seriously hope two services:
1. SKG - UEC via Upper Changi, Bedok south
2. SKG - BBT/JE via BPJ
both using express (TPE, BKE etc)

maybe because distance 42km?
IMHO, the so called "Marathon" services should be made express, so as to solely act as a way to connect east to west and provide a good alternative MRT cannot. For example, 67 should skip some stops along its route. Since SG calculates revenue by distance it should be perfectly alright for the short-haul trunks (eg. 38) to bring the passengers from their location of residence to the bus stops that is available for transfer. After all, As I've said so many times, it's not wise to benefit the minority by trimming the privilege of the majority. More DDs can also be pumped into these services in order to boost capacity.
These services should not be called "Marathon" is this case as it does sounds relatively odd IMO. I will dare to say, LTA should SERIOUSLY give up on having SBST and SMRT having the dual-poly of buses and trains. You tell me, there isn't any of these sore of services after NEL and TIBS handover, why? Simply due to the loss in competition in SG PT.
