Honestly I don't understand a heck why everyone is making a big fuss over SMRT.
Over the years I've OBSERVED SMRT is trying to improve alr eg. Fix its freq and service and I'm starting to like SMRT over SBST.
I honestly think that SMRT have the sincerity to improve and serve the commuters with a smile. Its significantly cleaner buses, better-maintained buses as a whole has convinced me that SMRT do give a damn about how commuters feel during the ride.
SBST? Dirty, ill-maintained buses with no heart to improve on its innovations. You may argue that they are focused on good svc. You are wrong. SBST svcs arent much better off from SMRT's.
This year have been a breakthrough for SMRT. I was both elated and disgusted by how SMRT had already embarked on new innovations eg. DDs and new bus makes while SBST hasnt had any significant breakthrough of its own since 2010 and simply refuses to accept the changing nature of bus operation (and ofc the changing nature of its competitor)
I know this would spark off lots of flamings and debates. Truth is that doesnt bother me. I just wanna share my two cents and that SMRT is outweighing its competitior slowly but steadily. I wish SMRT all the best in the tendering of routes.

*SBS3137X (AMDEP 166) loudest Volvo B9TL ever... Very loud engine and vibrating rear, worse than Volvo B9TL CDGEs which are already quite bad.
SBS8690G (AMDEP SP) - very quiet engine like SBS8577B, with faint turbo sound... Very nice KUB, except that the rear doors are noisy when closing.
SBS9672C (HGDEP SP) - whole bus vibrates when BC releases the handbreak before starting off...
TIB895S (KJDEP 176) - very squeaky articulator, but quiet engine...
*TIB1126Y (KJDEP 188) still with MAN A22 stickers...

Common issue... SBS8065L also got this issue at the rear, but on the left instead.
SBS9634M indicators do not blink (they get permanently light up when activated).

I think SBS3248J also has the same issue...
SMB 245X (WL 187) Bus no inter-lock, BC drove off first then close door. The bus was like 20-30km/h then fully close

The comment I can only offer is that it may be too early to pass judgment at this stage.
It should become clear once the results of the first parcel tender is released, whether LTA has bought this argument.

Just my views on the two operators, I just don't feel it's fair how SMRT takes all the mockery when SBST is kinda as crap.

Service 307 with very weird observation. Not sure what happened along the route...
1) SMB213M (AP04 on 307), SMB122S (epull on 307E) and SMB212R (AP03 on 307E) arrived at Opp CCK MRT stop almost within 2 mins time frame.
2) SMB214K (AP05 on 307), SMB210X (AP01 on 307E) and SMB1430X (AP06 on 307E) left CCK int within 7 mins time frame between 2210hrs and 2217hrs, with the later 2 buses arriving CCK INT from Teck Whye together with SMB211T (AP02), and SMB211T went to rest while SMB210X and SMB1430X continued its journey to Yew Tee. One thing to note is that SMB214K and SMB1430X are on normal timing, but SMB210X appearing makes it weird as it was supposed to depart at least half hour before. SMB211T arrival at CCK INT was also on schedule.
Correct sequence: SMB210X >> SMB213M >> SMB212R >> SMB214K (2207) >> SMB1430X (2217) >> SMB211T (bracket being actual departure time)
but end up SMB210X was between SMB214K and SMB1430X while SMB122S seem to be on SMB210X slot...SMB210X was at least 30 mins late!!
