After all the hallelujah on sv 18, I decided to see the peak time loading for this service
Loading @ 07.35am from Tampines Interchange Citaro
Tampines Interchange -- 18
Tampines Ave 7 -- 24 (0/6), 26 (-2/4), 28 (-3/5), 28 (-3/3)
Tampines Ave 2 -- 26 (-11/9) please note 11 pax already alight with 17 pax on board at Tampines CC. 8 & 38 in parallel, 30 (-2/6), 32 (-3/5), 36 (-3/7) peak loading!
Tampines Ave 1 -- 23 (-18/5) a shocking 18 pax alighted at SAFRA. Please note you have sv 8 in parallel till here from Tampines Interchange.
Bedok Reservoir Rd -- 22 (-1/0), 24 (-4/6)
Bedok North Ave 3 -- 24 (-4/4), express
Bedok North Road -- 26 (-3/5)
Bedok North Ave 2 -- 29 (-2/5) bus#225 in parallel
Bedok Interchange -- 0 (-29/0) it was funny that inspite being loop service BC asked me to alight but I ran and managed to get the bus still :)
Bedok Interchange -- 12 (0/12)
Bedok North Ave 2 -- 14 (-4/6)
Bedok North Rd -- 18 (0/4)
Bedok North Ave 3 -- 21 (-1/4), 19 (-4/2)
Bedok Reservoir Rd -- 20 (-2/3), 20 (0/0)
Tampines Ave 1 -- 20 (-7/7)
Tampines Ave 2 -- 20 (-3/3), 21 (-3/4), 25 (-1/5), 19 (-11/5)
Tampines Ave 7 -- 18 (-4/3), 17 (-4/3), 18 (-2/3), 14 (-4/0)
* Peak loading in direction 1: 36 pax, average around 25 pax
* Peak loading in direction 2: 25 pax, average below 20 pax
* Ofcourse there are people on board sv 18 - it passes through two of the busiest towns Tampines and Bedok, but just 20+ pax during peak hours is justified? Let's consider we stop sv 18, what would these pax do? They will take DD on sv 8 or 38 to Tampines CC or take 28/59 to SAFRA (huge number of pax unloading here).
* If this service is routed via Tampines Ave 9, would it not benefit more people and ease the crowd on sv 28/29 that are overly crowded?
sv25 really cash cow for sbst... 3xDD bunched up n all 3 buses are full....
854 and 87 also
87 from north-east to east. Off peak takes only 40mins.
Originally posted by carbikebus:25 indeed is a cash cow svc…Direct and fast route from East to Northeast and North
Every bus has 80-90 pax. Soon I think it will become full fleet dd as well.
Weekend loading on sv 115 (SBS6350B) from Hougang St 21 FC @17.30pm, Sat, 19 July
Hougang St 21: 6, 6(-0/0)
Hougang Ave 1: 7(-0/1), 7(-0/0), 5(-2/0)
Hougang Ave 3: 5(-0/0), 4(-1/0), 4(-0/0), 2(-2/0)
Upp Serangoon Rd: 4(-1/3), 4(-0/0), 1(-3/0)
Hougang St 21: 0(-1)
- As the bus turned to Hougang Ave 3 it bunched with two sv 51 buses, so I guess some people along Hougang Ave 3 who want to go to any MRT station (being it Kovan or Hougang) may have taken 51 instead of 115 behind, resulting in no pax boarding 115. Last time when I joyrided 115 on weekends (before fleet addition) there was significant loading along Hougang Ave 3 and Upp Serangoon Rd, and at least 20 pax were onboard before Kovan Station. (I'm not sure if my hypothesis is correct as I'm not familiar with this area)
- Later at 18.15pm I saw the same bus at Kovan Stn when I was waiting for sv 119. 4 pax alighted while about 2 continued their journey to Hougang St 21. Later at 18.29pm I saw sv 115 again at Upp Serangoon Rd with at least 10 pax onboard.
Weekend loading on sv 119 (SBS962A) from Kovan Stn @18.21pm, Sat, 19 July
Upp Serangoon Rd (Kovan Stn): 1(-4/1)
Hougang St 21: 9(-0/8), 12(-0/3)
Upp Serangoon Rd: 14(-0/2), 16(-1/3), 19(-0/3), 19(-0/0), 23(-0/4), 26(-6/9) (some data here may be inaccurate)
Hougang Ave 8: 28(-2/4)
Hougang Ave 10: 31(-0/3)
Punggol Rd: 33(-0/2)
Sengkang East Ave: 35(-2/4)
Riervale Dr: 28(-7/0), 23(-5/0)
Sengkang East Way: 12(-11/0), 22(-2/12), 28(-1/7), 13(-25/10)(Sengkang MRT)
Sengkang East Rd: 13(-0/0)
Punggol Field: 8(-5/0), 1(-7/0)(Saw 12 pax waiting at opposite bus stop)
Punggol Temp Int: 0(-1)
- Loading is mainly between Hougang -> Rivervale Dr/Sengkang East Way/Sengkang MRT (I'm not sure where they alighted), Sengkang East Way -> Sengkang MRT, Sengkang MRT -> Punggol Field
Weekend loading on sv 84 (SBS6448D) from Punggol Temp Int @20.27pm, Sat, 19 July

Loading on sv 55 @ 07.45am from Bishan Interchange B9TL
Bishan Interchange -- 35
Bishan St 11 -- 40 (0/5)
Bishan Road -- 58 (0/18), 62 (0/4), 67 (-2/7), 69 (0/2)
AMK Ave 10 -- 59 (-12/2), 63 (-12/16), 68 (-4/9)
AMK Ave 3 -- 70 (-2/4), 67 (0/-3), 60 (-8/1), 59 (-7/6), 58 (-10/9)
HG Ave 2 -- 61 (-1/4), 62 (-4/5), 66 (-3/7), 68 (-4/6)
HG Ave 3 -- 75 (-6/13), 76 (-6/7), 79 (-2/5), 79 (-4/4), 77 (-7/5), 79 (0/2), 77 (-2/0)
Jalan Eunos -- 74 (-5/2), 70 (-4/0), 59 (-11/0), 49 (-12/2), 47 (-10/8), 48 (-3/4)
Eunos Link -- 47 (-3/2), 31 (-26/10) Eunos MRT.. I alighted here.
* Despite of sv 25 being just one signal ahead, the bus had 70+ loading once it hit HG Ave 3. Consistent 60+ loading on most part of the route. No wonder sv 55 is one of the top 10 services to have maximum SD --> DD conversion.
* Significant loading between Bishan and AMK towns as well as AMK and HG towns
* Loading drops only after Eunos MRT towards Siglap
* Peak loading = 79 pax

Keng Lee Rd -- 56 (-3/7), 59 (-2/5)
Bukit Timah Road -- 58 (-13/12) quite few people alighted contrary to my expectation
Sungei Rd -- 58 (-10/10)
Ophir Rd -- 61 (-1/4)
North Bridge Rd -- 38 (-31/7) highest unloading witnessed at a stop, 41 (-1/4), 40 (-5/4), 44 (-8/12) City Hall MRT, 46 (-2/4)
South Bridge Rd -- 46 (-4/4)
Cross St -- 54 (-9/17) surprisingly high loading
New Bridge Rd -- 55 (-14/15) high loading/unloading at Chinatown, 59 (-8/12)
Outram Rd -- 64 (-2/7)
Tiong Bahru Rd -- 62 (-6/4), 58 (-8/4), 55 (-6/3), 58 (-18/21) high loading/unloading at Tiong Bahru MRT, 57 (-4/3)
Henderson Rd -- 52 (-8/3), 35 (-21/4) high unloading, still 4 pax boarded one stop before terminating point #interesting!
* Very interesting observations on sv 851 - one of the rare services that has heavy loading/unloading on so many stops. Took significant time being a SD at many stops to facilitate unloading first and then boarding
* Loading was poor until sv hit Marymount rd after which loading picked up. Interesting observation was few people alighting at Little India but a huge volume alighting at Bugis
* Loading maintained in higher 50s in Marymount, Thomson, Little India, falls in North Bridge stretch but again picks up at Chinatown/Outram/Tiong Bahru
* Have to be objective to say that SDs are okay in direction 1 during PM peak, but should be full DD fleet in direction 1 during AM peak looking at the loading. In other words, peak direction between 07.15 and 08.45 should have all DDs deployed from Yishun and all SDs deployed from Bukit Merah, since journey time is 1.5 hours

SGN north ave 6 -- 52 (0/6)
SGN north ave 5 -- 57 (-5/10), 57 (-6/6) peak loading
HG ave 9 -- 57 (-7/7), 54 (-5/2), 50 (-6/2)
HG ave 4 -- 46 (-7/3), 45 (-5/4)
Buangkok Green -- 42 (-6/3), 39 (-6/3) I alighted here
Interesting Observations:
* average loading around 30-35 pax between TPY and AMK towns
* loading picks up mainly at Serangoon North. To me it seems like major part of loading from ITE, AMK ave 5 is now shared by enhanced frequency on 88 HG bound and 50 Sengkang bound. Guess Sv 50 is faster to SGK than Sv 159
* peak loading did not cross 57 pax. I think BSEP add and more adds on other services have shared the load. Hence, not much banter for DDs on 159 anymore
* personally I observed this fall of loading on 159 and so wanted to check it out. Also, as per iris, bus ahead had a lead time of 09 minutes and bus behind was in 06 mins when I checked at AMK ave 5. Seems frequency in peak direction is super enhanced as well.
Loading on sv 20 @ 08.05 from Tampines Interchange Citaro
Tampines Interchange -- 41
Tampines Ave 5 -- 50 (0/9), 56 (-1/7)
Tampines Ave 2 -- 60 (-3/7), 59 (-6/5), 60 (-5/6)
Simei Road -- 69 (-5/14) bus already packed, but didnt seem like pax were left behind
Simei St 1 -- 70 (-6/7) bus packed to door, people had to push to get in. This is problem with Citaro... once it reaches 68-70 pax... it is full... even if official capacity states lot more, 67 (-11/8), 67 (-6/6)
Simei St 3 -- 71 (-11/15) Simei MRT - clearly many pax could not board. I think around 8-9 pax wanted to take the bus and could not
Simei St 4 -- 69 (-2/0) BC did not open the door... 6 pax on the stop could not board, 72 (-2/5) BC opened door this time and all 5 pax squeezed in
Simei Road -- 73 (-4/5) I alighted here... 1 man left behind... others pushed themselves in, including aunties
* Loading/unloading on Citaro is extremely slow once it reaches 65/70 pax. Did the university professor take this into consideration? Believe when loads get high, DDs/bendies unload/load faster. DDs reach its bottle neck when # pax goes beyond 100 pax which is rare these days given BSEP
* So many people were not able to board, especially during peak time of 08-30 to go to work with all office people smartly dressed. Does this mean sv 20 might get more DD additions in the coming months? Considering the loading, I think I will not be surprised if 2 more SD slots are converted to DD in the next BSEP wave.
* Lead time with bus ahead was 15 minutes, bus behind was in 11 minutes when I checked at Simei Rd.
Was on a Citaro svc 28 from Tampines Int to Bedok MRT today. Time around 11:30+am.
Totally packed throughout journey...

Maybe LTA should deploy 3401 3402 to 20 already, based on this.

Yes - it is. Loading is all for CBP. Hence, you will see the heavy loading Mon-Fri AM peak towards CBP and PM peak from CBP. Just like JIS - the only difference here is off peak on weekdays is not bad - bus will still get 25-30 pax between Simei & Tampines towns. Yes 4 DDs is all it needs.

* Clear loading pattern:
- Bishan St 22 to Upper Thomson
- Upper Thomson to Clementi Rd
- Clementi Rd to Clementi MRT
- Clementi MRT to IBP/IMM
- Toh Guan Rd HdBs to Jurong East
* No where along the route bus reached DD worthy loading but I am sure there must be DD worthy loading on the Jurong - Bishan route in AM. Also to note on PIE bus was with +20 standees (not very comfortable)
^A bit off given that it is on a public holiday and not on a school day.

* Can conclude that bulk of the loads came from Jln Bt Merah to Redhill MRT stretch (as many as 26 pax)
* There wasn't any sv33 in front of 120 when loading was taken, so if sv33 was in front, the loading along Alexandra Rd (until opp Alexandra Hosp) is expected to be lesser.
* Telok Blangah MRT to within Telok Blangah Est side was thought to be the key objective this rt aims to achieve? Only a handful of ppl (5 in this audit) chose to take 120 back home from Telok Blangah MRT.

I guess CCL5 is not so useful at this moment as it only brings passengers to HarbourFront where they still have to transfer to NEL. In the future when CCL6 is completed, more people may choose CCL rather than bus services to the city. Therefore maybe we can expect the loading of svc 120 to increase a bit after 2030.

I have similar observation though in my loading experience found 20+ pax between Redhill and Alexandra rd, and around 10-15 pax rest of route.

I didn't understand your comment. How does this affect loading on Sv 120? And if loading will increase only after 2030, what's the purpose 16 years in advance? Rather use the resources in other areas.
