I am going to post lot of observations here from yesterday.
sv 106 5051 E500 @17.32 hours from SMU
SMU/YMCA -- 21, 25 (-2/6)
Dhoby Ghaut MRT -- 21 (-6/2) expected more people to board but maybe it is not peak yet as it was only around 5.30pm
Penang / Somerset Rd -- 22 (0/1), 25 (-1/4), 26 (-2/3)
Orchard MRT -- 36 (-2/12)
Orchard Boulevard -- 42 (-2/8), 42 (0/0)
Grange/Napier Rd -- 48 (0/6), 50 (-1/3), 53 (-2/5)
Holland Rd -- 54 (0/1), 54 (0/0), 54 (0/0), 54 (0/0), 54 (0/0) all of Holland road, no one alighted, 1 pax boarded
Holland Dr -- 58 (-2/6) HLV MRT, 58 (-3/3)
Commonwealth Ave West -- 60 (-6/8), 77 (-4/21) BNV MRT, 79 (-1/3), 77 (-4/2), 77 (0/0), 78 (-13/14) Dover mrt, 77 (-2/1), 75 (-10/8), 69 (-11/5), 107 (-18/56) there could be some miscalculation here, but should be 95% accurate, full upper deck with 1 cheeky person standing on upper deck, 109 (-2/4), 106 (-5/2), 108 (0/2)
Toh Tuck Ave -- 114 (-2/8), 120 (-3/9) 1-2 pax could not board or rather did not choose to board
Bukit Batok East Ave 3 -- 119 (-5/4) 3-5 pax could not board, 107 (-15/3), 58 (-52/3) wow just at one stop +50 pax alighted, 44 (-17/3), 29 (-15/0)
** The loading was fantastic between Clementi and Bukit Batok. There was one stop in Bukit Batok where +50 pax alighted. This was interesting!!
** DDs in opposite direction between Bukit Batok and Clementi also seemed full. In fact one DD turning onto Holland Dr had almost full upper deck as well (don't know about the lower)
** Since this region will not be impacted by future TTL/DTL lines, expect loading to increase. Need more DDs for sv 106.
Who was the person here wearing YELLOW tshirt and BLUE shorts at Bukit Batok East Ave 3? I saw him methodically taking down notes on the buses calling the stop while I was on board sv 106. Was a young chap!! :)
Observations at BBI
sv 941/945/947 no problem with boarding bus between 18.40-19.00 hours
sv 61 had good number of pax boarding bus (around 40-45 pax on 2 buses)
sv 106/990 each had around 40-45 and 30-35 pax boarding in the two buses I saw on each departing BBI during this time. 990 helps 106 relieve loading for BB East Ave 3 residents. Before 990 launch, 106 would get +70 pax. Hence, 990 was routed via BB East Ave 3.
77/852 departs interchange with merely 8 and 4 pax respectively.
sv 41/51/79/334 berth observation between 19.13 and 19.42
19.13 - sv 51 - 3954D - 56p
19.31 - sv 51 - 8359P - 35p around 18 mins for next bus... Pandan residents quite at disadvantage with sv 51 having poor frequency. I think they have to take 143/143M even if more winding.
19.18 - sv 79 - 8190H - 14p
19.35 - sv 79 - 3327H - 23p most people taking sv 79 were workers who stay at dorms. Again Teban 80% residents now rely on sv 143/M, leaving 79 quite empty. I remember earlier when I would observe this berth for sv 334, each sv 79 bus would leave with 40-50 pax on board as load would get distributed between 143 and 79.
Observation of sv 41 at JE Interchange
17.17 - 3438C - 22p
17.26 - 3441S - 18p
17.40 - 6551M - 19p
around 7-8 pax queue for sv 41 (these could be ones going to Jurong Kechill, Beauty World). All others break queue from 183 and come to sv 41 when it comes to berth.
Frequency is quite decent.
Finally, let me share observations of sv 334
17.15 - 3175K - 79p (interval: 05 min, there was bus departing at 17.10 when I just arrived)
17.21 - 3447B - 85p (interval: 06 min)
17.28 - 3844M - 81p (interval: 07 min)
17.34 - 3295Y - 95p (interval: 06 min)
17.42 - 3286Z - 93p (interval: 08 min)
Now you don't see buses with +100 pax at first stop, yet loading continues to be +80 pax on buses. Frequency is 06-07 mins on average with full fleet DD with 2 BSEP DD adds and 1 SD-->DD conversion recently.
Moreover bus will get another 10 pax boarding at JE Central. So the DDs are very well utilized.
On the other hand, sv 333 leaves interchange with less than 20 pax on board, while sv 98 has every DD full. Some other observations.
IF LTA really wants to reduce loading on sv 269 and 315, it should have done like SLBP and deployed DDs on these services. would not have to add so many buses also. DDs would have cleared the queues. Just imagine if sv 334 was SDs... you would need around 16-17 buses instead of 11 buses and journey would be painful as people would be packed like sardines.

I think there isn't a problem if wanting to deploy DDs on 269. It's with 315 i think... is Serangoon North Ave 4 accessible for DDs? quite tight and sharp bends it seems..

67 back to back DDs fully loaded
Originally posted by array88:Just now at 1.17pm, saw a 138 Citaro at AMK Ave 3 sardine packed towards Singapore Zoo
sv138 is alway having issue, and yet no BSEP fleet add. peak hours is worst now also.. they added buses for day time (for pax going to zoo) for weekday.. but if you look at the frequency of 138 departing from AMK int from 6am to 9am.....it is roughly 15-17min interval..
and from 7pm to 9pm, almost every bus departing AMK interchange is full with average 15 min frequency... last time they got the 138A which terminate at Ave 5 but dunno why they remove it.. should introduce 138B, with using some S-shift buses from other AMK interchange services.. Those s-shift buses that end shift from7pm -9pm can do a trip of 138B before return to depot..(terminate at Ave 5,)...
Posting my loading analysis on sv 857 and sv 85.
Let's start with sv 857 @ 17.34 from SMU 3591 E500
SMU -- 12
Princep st -- 17 (0/5)
Selgie -- 28 (0/11), 31 (0/3)
Serangoon Rd -- 33 (-9/11), 33 (-6/6), 38 (-4/9), 39 (-2/3), 49 (0/10), 59 (-15/25) Boon Keng MRT, 60 (-3/4), 60 (-2/2), 64 (0/4)
Jalan Toa Payoh -- 72 (-6/14) bef CTE
YCK Road -- there was 854 bendy right in front.. i thought 857 will get no takers, but i was wrong. 72 (-2/2), 70 (-2/0), 86 (-2/18), 117 (0/31) you will be surprised to know both the bendy and DD were packed to door and there were still people who wanted to board. There was 857 DD in opposite direction also with many standees and full upper deck, 116 (-1/0) BC did not open door. There were at least 35-40 pax on the stop. 854 in front didn't even stop.. may be no one alighting
Lentor Ave -- 114 (-2/0), 114 (0/0), 114 (0/0), 112 (-2/0), 112 (0/0), 112 (0/0), 112 (0/0)
Yishun Ave 2 -- 108 (-4/0), 72 (-41/5) Khatib MRT, 68 (-4/0)
Yishun Central -- 64 (-4/0), 61 (-3/0)
** Minutes after I alighted, 854 rigid came. Was relieved that maybe the rigid might have catered to those stranded pax
** What did 857 do when it didnt have DDs for so long? Need more DDs for sure!!
** Also note 857 route will not be served by TEL or DTL so can only expect loading to get higher in future
Yishun Interchange was a joke when I entered. There were 3 SBST DDs in the parking lot and 0 SMRT DDs. And it is a SMRT territory interchange :P
sv 85 @ 18.50 3923T B9TL
Yishun temp interchange -- 29
Yishun Ave 2 -- 40 (0/11), 43 (-1/4), 41 (-7/5), 55 (-3/17) Khatib MRT, 57 (-1/3)
Lentor Ave -- 57 (0/0), 57 (0/0)
Jalan Kayu -- 57 (-2/2), 56 (-4/3)
Sengkang West Way -- 46 (-12/2), 38 (-9/2), 43 (-2/7) lot of workers boarded
Sengkang East Way -- 41 (-2/0), 36 (-7/2), 32 (-5/2) If you notice 37 pax who boarded bef Sengkang, alighted along East/West Way...
Sengkang East Road -- 23 (-15/6)
Compassalve -- 24 (-1/2), 21 (-6/3)
Rivervale Dr -- 16 (-7/2) I alighted here.
** Definitely it is not a useless service, but does it merit DDs... no!!
** Not saying from one observation... DDs in opposite direction looked quite empty.. DD spotted at Sengkang East way might have only 30-35 pax on board.. even SDs hardly had 4-5 pax standing
** Lot of construction still coming up along Sengkang East/West Way.. so loading bound to increase
** 85 is useful mainly as Sengkang intra-town and giving Yishun-Sengkang West direct connection
** I still feel 965 will be preferred by Sengkang residents and for Punggol.. I doubt people will take 85 because it spends close to 30 minutes within Sengkang to Rivervale.. they are better off taking 965/969/858/39 and changing to other service.

So how long does the DDs take for alighting and boarding??15-20mins compared to bendy 5-10mins??LOL

Think must use bendy cause take only 5 mins for alighting brooo
SMB1333T, SMB1639L & SMB3589J on 856, departed from WRI full housed around 1855hr - 1900hr...
SBS8888D (HGDEP 109) full even before reaching the first stop!
Service 43 DDs usually have only 40+ pax during off-peak. They are hardly utilised well. Maybe the SDs can have cross-over to 83 during peak and 43 can get more split DDs.
SBS3156R on Service 157 arrived at Blk 73 bus stop with only 2 persons at the upper deck
