CV Terminal > Telok Paku Road > Changi Coast Rd > ECP > Airport Terminals 1-3 and back
(maybe the 2nd one can help a bit of bus 35?) and also operate full days including weekends
Better make this service do a detour at Alps Ave, svc 35's demand is not along Changi Coast Rd or Telok Paku Rd...

Originally posted by carbikebus:So after 35 working hours how do you get to and go back from work? They should extend the timings for ALPS or introduce a service from Changi Village to loop there
For me, I always try to catch the 0719hrs bus from Bedok Int.
And I knock off from work at 1830hrs so it's still within the svc 35 ops timing.
And yes, I agree they should extend the timings of svc 35 or intro any new svc to loop at Alps Ave.

** Headway with bus in front = 16 min, bus behind in iris = 11 min (Citaro), 24 min (3375A)
** Bus sequence as mentioned before: SD --> SD --> DD (bus I am in) --> SD --> DD --> SD
** There is definitely DD worthy loading for sv 4... surprised it took so long for DDs to be deployed...
** The route is fascinating as it mostly caters to condominiums and not HDBs (apart from industrial area)
** On way to Upper Changi North, round 38/55 pax were on upper deck... guess due to new introduction of DDs + long distance

Wow... you go that early to work? How is the loading at that time? I know the buses around 8am to 830am at Tanah Merah are super crowded.

Yup. The route is special... I always take this bus to my uncle's place at Tanah Merah Besar Rd. Convenient and no need for me to walk a long way in from Upp Changi Rd North in. Ppl from the inner part of Changi North Way, I believe always hail or book a cab before this service was implemented.

Maybe time to inro svc to Seletar Hills already. Like sv 4 style.
I think so too... Seletar Hills residents can also benefit with a more direct service... in the past I was suggesting 102 to loop there... I didn't really expect sv 4 to have that good loading... and observed few buses on sv 4.. all leave interchange with 50+ pax and surely get more on the way.
13 mins wait for 171 at ard 6pm (SMB47B showed up) outside rifle range bus stop towards town... filled to the brim cant even take more pax from subsequent stops... what is SMRT screwing with Yishun trunks man...
171 seems to be neglected by both SMRT and forumers... Even bendy cameos can have full house loading from Bukit Timah (not only from the sector which 174 also plies) to Orchard on Sunday morning
SMB3505B on Service 61 and the upper deck has less than 9 passengers

Sunday morning to Orchard is mostly Filipinos going to Lucky Plaza.

Did you take full route of the bus?If just for a few stops and you start claiming that upper deck is empty then you shouldnt speculate.

Most likely to Blk 72, along Commonwealth Drive

Do you not know where you took the bus to?

Well... that's ofcourse not the high loading point for 61...

I have heard 171 load in AM between Yishun and Upper Bukit Timah can be quite high with some difficulty for people to enter bus. After that really depends on which service comes first. PM is still okay towards Yishun.
I haven't taken 171 but plan to do soon.

Not just Filipinos, at least for my ride. I took 171 bendy at National JC and there were already quite a number of pax on board (at most half only are foreign workers). After that, 5-10 people boarding at each stop from National JC to Botanic Gardens MRT, and they're not foreign workers. And it's just 9am. (Quite surprised to see people near Botanic Gardens MRT still take 171 to Orchard)
Many people have suggested that 171 should do Yishun to Bukit Panjang only (or extending to Bukit Batok). I agree that much of 171 will not be needed as it's covered by DTL and 174, but I do wish to see the link between Botanic Gardens and Orchard maintained. You can't simply expect everyone to take DTL and do the inconvenient transfer at Newton (I'm not even sure if it will be an interchangs with NSL, as there will be no paid link between DTL Newton and NSL Newton)
Maybe 700 can be diverted to Adam Rd and Botanic Gardens when DTL opens to cover the missing link. Then 171 will not be needed.
Or maybe 171 Bt Panjang-Marina Centre and a new svc from BPJ-Yishun..Hahaha

No paid link at Newton?!? You're joking, right?
You do have a point on 171 providing link between Bt Timah Rd & Orchard, it does seem to be more direct than 174. But don't forget, it's not possible for vehicles to turn (right) from eastbound PIE to Adam Rd, so that link is out. The next possible diversion is via Eng Neo Rd & NYGH / NJC / HCI, but that adds quite a lot of distance and bus stops and may not be friendly to Bt Panjang residents.

Is the current temporary bus park large enough to accomodate two new long trunk services? I quite doubt so... anyway not wise to send new services there with the road chaos after DTL2 opens. Wait for the ITH.

Not now but until the ITH is ready,Heard the parking area is also bigger due to bendy bus lots.I also heard there is 5 boarding berths and 3 alighting areas. Most probably 180 will come back to start at BPJ
