thank you bro.
I'm not sure about its loading, but is 506's loading even good?
Bedok Res/Eunos > TPY is served by 59, I wonder who would even take 506 for this section of its route?

I might not be right on this part, but this might give you an idea of the flow of pax for Svc 506
Some of my friends who stays around CCK/Jurong will travel to BBK to transfer to Svc 506 to continue their journey to Kaki Bukit area. It is the faster option while compared to taking the MRT all the way (Towards CCK). Yes, Svc 59 duplicates it from TPY to KBT, and Svc 985 from TPY to BBK. However, Svc 506 do not require a transfer.
This is just a rough idea on how the flow of pax works for Svc 506. I also wish to know which sector of the route have the demands that the DDs are deployed for.

506 loading is pretty decent. 518 loading is quite crap. I really don't see the need of DDs on 518 except weekends.
506 on the other hand does have good long distance travelers. Even if bus takes around 60 pax still worth putting DDs because of the long distance.
502 also has decent loading when you observe at MBS. The SDs get 50-60 pax. Wouldn't mind upgrading a few SDs to DDs.
518 on the other hand is very random. I have seen few SDs depart MBS with 20-25 pax and then few with 40-50 pax. Never really see high crowds in PM unless it is weekend (which also is random).

What makes you so sure 506's loading is entirely dependent on this sector?
So it is right to say a svc has no loading, just coz one particular sector is duplicated by another svc?
Try not to jump to conclusions next time. And yes, 506 does have cross-island loading, especially given JE's rapid development these few years.

Weekend loading for 502, loses out to 518, quite unexpectedly.
This may explain why 502 received less DDs for AP shift.
However, it is true 502 receives higher loads during PM peak, as it stops by Tanjong Pagar near Anson Rd before hitting the express, hence drawing office crowds. 518 however already hits the highway before reaching the CBD.
SBST may consider adding more split DDs on 502 at this time.
Took 3502A on 117 today,Loadings is very pathetic for a DD..The most is like 25 pax.

25 not bad le ba... considering is sch hols. Plus a lot of people on leave and not having to go to work. And of course folks may not be aware of it yet.
I guess in Jan its peak hour loadings will balloon ba. Residents at N4 along Ave 1 will prefer to take 117 rather than 804 to go to MRT.
More so when the N5 flats near OCC TOP.

Cannot expect loading to be high in first week. Need to give any new service at least one month before you measure its loading.
25 pax IMO is v good to start with.

1) It is quite good already as currently it is the holidays and not many ppl are at work
2) It will help ease the loading at Opp Yishun Sapphire bus stop for Svc 169 as by the time the bus reach that bus stop, it has already been full to the door.
3) Maybe you all should check out the AM Peak and the PM Peak hours loading. On the way to work, I saw one Citaro towards Yishun MRT empty and there are two DDs at Sembawang Int.
So just wait till the new school term and new year comes. Then you all can make judgement. Same goes to Svc 118. The loading for TP should increase and makes travelling to TP easier...
25 is the peak,All the way i see 15 pax the most..Took 2 return trips..

- 54 min from Sembawang to Punggol
- 39 min from Yishun MRT to Punggol

- Peak loading on first day = 23 pax. I guess it's because there is already demand between Yishun/Khatib and Punggol (established by 85).

- 42 min from Punggol to CBP Ter
- 25 min from Punggol to Temasek Poly
- Free rides on 20 Dec (47 and 117 didn't have free rides)
- I actually expected higher loading even though it's just the first day of operation, as I thought there would be people taking 118 from Punggol to IKEA. But good enough...
- Later during that day, I observed there we already people taking 20/47/118 from the Changi City Point bus stop. Maybe soon we can expect Punggol and Tampines West residents taking 118 to Changi City Point for shopping.
Was on 858 towards CGA and observed at least 12 pax alighting at Yishun Comm Hosp bus stop at 12.21pm. To those who were suggesting 858 to skip the bus stop without any replacements, think twice.

Loading on 140 (SBS6528G) from Boon Keng to Kallang

(18:50) Upp Boon Keng Rd - [-2+1] 15, [-4] 11
(18:52) Lor 1 Geylang - [-11] 0 (Kallang MRT, 18:52)
- 140's PM peak loading seems not so strong as AM peak (which Mr BusAnalyzer posted several months ago). Maybe because of the timing?
- PM peak's loading mainly comes from Boon Keng MRT to St George's estate, and some demand to Geylang Bahru (where 140 is the only service from Boon Keng MRT to the bus stop)
Loading on 985 (SMB2E) from Kallang to Whitley Rd
(19:02) Lor 1 Geylang - [+29] 33 (Kallang MRT, 19:02)

(19:11) Serangoon Rd - [-20+12] 29 (Boon Keng MRT, 19:11), 29, [-3+1] 27, 27
(19:15) Jln Toa Payoh - [-1+10] 36, [-9+2] 29, [-2+3] 30
(19:24) Whitley Rd - [+3] 33

Hi mr array88, yes my full journey is 44 min. About same. I also have free rides on Sbs 118 but I think it was attributed to the fare card scanner not yet computerized for Sbs 118. Not that they want to give free rides. Cheers. Thanks.

Apparently the error was still not fixed by the time I took 118 (4.18pm)...
I wonder why they stopped giving free rides on 1st day of service. It was a good method of publicity and worked quite well for the previous BSEP services.

Staying at the kallang area, during PM peak, I often notice 140 with a reasonable loading which I believe are passengers who travel from kallang mrt to geylang bahru/bendemeer road. Sometimes the loading could be affected by 26/853 that come earlier, I guess for most part of its route 140 serves as a substitute except for the st georges portion :) and I guess residents would rather take 31/985 to boon keng and walk/or transfer to another 140 since it takes quite a big round before 140 reaches st georges from kallang mrt!
On the flipside, bus 175 has pretty poor loading from kallang area until the kallang bahru industrial area, I guess also owing to its pretty bad frequency (sometimes the wait can go up to 25 minutes which is very frustrating)
As for 985, many kallang residents/industrial estate residents take it to commute from kallang mrt to boon keng area alongside with 31; hence it is also an issue of which one comes first. Of course, 985 will provide the passengers with seats since it originates from lor 1 geylang terminal!
