Expect much higher demand once Canberra mrt is up in future. Expect higher demand once thousands of units (several blocks of HDB flats) along yishun ave 1 are up and occupied. Expect seletar aerospace park to drive up demand in yr 2016-2018. Expect super high demand at Punggol way serving so many unoccupied new HDB flats there. Expect spillover effect from many other blocks of flats at Sumang link, sumang walk, Punggol field and Punggol central in 2016-2017. Cheers. Thanks.
Hahas..but I am really surprise that such BSEP svc, yet there's close bunching already. Both double deck, empty much. Waste resources. Should put most DDs on split shift..and lowered it's amount for now.
Hahas..I rather you hold those lines(Bolded). Who knows the future, some may not be what you said..

Hi mr TIB429E, if you travelled past yishun ave 1, you can see for yourself the sheer number of flats currently being built. There are also not much bus services to that area. Sbs 117 brings them to Khatib mrt and yishun mrt and sembawang mrt currently. In future, Canberra mrt too. Moreover, directly from Ave 1 to these mrt without any huge loops. Try the route yourself. Okay for seletar aerospace no guarantee. Cheers. Thanks.
Anyway, some demanding spots within the route of 117 & 169 (& 965) :
Yishun Sapphire, Darul Makmur Mosque and sometimes Blk220.
For Canberra residents, hard to say. There's a future MRT stn already. Perhaps it might attract residents to Waterway point in the future, but usually it's once in a while. Otherwise, they rely on MRT to Yishun or so.
For Punggol residents, going to Yishun maybe? Or simply "cut" across.
For Canberra/Sembawang/Punggol workers, if they are working at Seletar, swee. Direct connections.
*Still, I wouldn't say it's 100% true.*

Hi mr TIB429E, at least there is one more alternative bus service sbs 117 (even when Canberra mrt is up) for those hotspots. Who does not want one more choice downstairs his or her house? Cheers. Thanks.

Hi, yes I travelled there today. Perhaps an ideal svc(somewhat) for fishing enthus, same as 103.
Don't forget there could be a new BSEP svc from SMRT in Yishun. But it could be similar to sv804 n sv103 situation along Yishun Av11.
Usually, if I am going to those stations directly(Khatib to Sembawang; 4 in future), I might take sv117 and alight directly. But I'm not sure for the general public. Otherwise, it's usually till Khatib.

Hi, pls don't get me wrong. But all I'm really saying is that the demand might still be low for 117.
Yup there's another alternative. But what I mean by my post(sorry for the unclear) is on average. Basically, those living along 117 route at Canberra benefits. Otherwise, those inside might walk out or simply take the intra-town(?) svc out to MRT only.(Like taking 913 to Adm Stn n take MRT to Yishun "kind-of-things")

Hi mr TIB429E, yes I understood. No worries. Even canberra link Blk 589D bus stops, there are 4-5 residents who boarded sbs 117 when I took it from sembawang. Overall it should benefit the northern residents. Thumbs up! Cheers. Thanks.
Took a few trips of 979 today..but i could not count the exact number of pax as some pax even boarded from the rear door and buses were too packed!! (Timing is approx timing)
930am: SMB3139A (979AP06) >> Twd CCK Cres
Bus exit KJE with only 2 pax onboard, and only a couple of pax boarded along cck st 52. Many pax boarded at YewTee MRT though most boarded the 302 behind (SMB8019E). Loading was ok for this bus and was only fully seated when i alighted at Blk 681 along CCK Cres.
10am: SMB3153H (979TQ02) >> Twd BP
Long wait (20 mins) before this bus arrive Blk 681 bus stop, packed to the door. Good thing many alighted so all could board the bus. Before this bus were three 302s (2 bendies, 1 MAN A22). Large passenger flow over the next few stops and BC had to keep asking pax to move in. Many pax also tried to board from the rear door. Bus eventually skipped the last stop along CCK Cres and many couldnt board the bus at the 2nd last bus stop along CCK Cres. Most pax are going to BP so not much boarding and alighting activities at YewTee MRT either. Bus was packed to the door when it entered KJE.
1030am: SMB3136H (979AP05) >>Twd CCK Cres
Fully seated. Bus was 3/4 full upon leaving YewTee MRT.
11am: SMB3153H (979TQ02) >> Twd BP
Bus was again filled to the brim upon reaching Opp Blk 666 bus stop. Similar situation as the previous trip above. Left for BP with pax filled to the door.
435pm: SMB1649H >> Twd BP
Bus reached Blk 702 bus stop 3/4 full and left for BP around 90% full. A few pax boarded the bus along Woodlands Road and eventually, all but 3 pax alighted at Bukit Panjang MRT bus stop
850pm: SMB3136H (979PM06) >> Twd CCK Cres
Bus was already packed to the door at the 2nd stop (Opp BP plaza). Strangely, 3 pax boarded at BP LRT and alighted at Opp BP plaza stop. A few pax managed to board at Junction 10 bus stop and some boarded via the rear door and it entered KJE with full load. Bus went into CCK North 5 at 90% load...
Even after DTL2, 171 still seems to have good loading.
This photo was taken outside Stevens MRT towards Yishun, at 6.38pm yesterday.

I am so irritated that SMRT did not give 979 DDs or bendies. This is RIDICULOUS.

It's too early mate to make that kind of a statement.

Saw DDs on 979 this morning. At least 3563H (cameo?) and one other.

Sure? Everyone here is saying there are only MANA22s.
(Partial) loading observation on Sv 979 (SMB3161J)
Monday 28 Dec 2015, 0703 hrs
Casual observations at bus stop 44029 (Bt Panjang MRT station)
Monday 28 Dec 2015, 0730-0850 hrs
Timings are precise, though some services may be omitted. All loadings above 25 are inaccurate due to the nature of having to count / estimate heads on a moving bus.
Assume all SMRT services are MAN A22s and all 170 buses are K230UBs if unspecified. All observed DDs are E500s except one A95 running on 963, all observed bendys are O405Gs except some A24s running on 180/983.
Stopping services:
Passing-by services: (some observations have high error margins)

Simple: Full A22s yesterday, DD only today.

Today (Monday) spotted 2 DDs, SMB3535P and SMB3563H

Have. One bendy (SMB8032R), but for show only :/
I have observed 102 few times in PM, this is the first time I decided to take AM trip.
Time: 07.23am, Citaro
Jalan Kayu -- 05, 05 (0/0), 08 (0/3), 13 (0/5)
Sengkang West Way -- 24 (0/11), 41 (0/17), 43 (-2/4)
Sengkang East Way -- 40 (-5/2), 42 (-3/5), 45 (-1/4)
Opp Compass Point / Sengkang MRT -- 13 (-38/6)
Compassalve Rd -- 10 (-5/2), 12 (-1/3)
Compassalve Dr -- 23 (0/11)
Sengkang Central -- 27 (-1/5), 14 (-19/6) Buangkok MRT
Buangkok Dr -- 14 (-2/2), 12 (-6/4), 16 (0/4)
Upper Serangoon Rd -- 27 (-3/14), 30 (-2/5), 27 (-6/3), 25 (-4/2)
HCI -- 0 (-25/0)
** 102 operates as as short feeder between Sengkang West-Sengkang MRT, Compassalve Dr-Buangkok MRT, Buangkok MRT-Buangkok Dr, Upp Serangoon Rd-Hougang MRT.
** All 102 buses in opposite direction have <10 pax
** As expected loading is best from Sengkang West to MRT; Sengkang East Way now have 50, 372 and 102 and hence loading didn't really pick up at Sengkang East Way because one of the other buses may have called the stops ahead of 102
** 102 serves an important need, and is a good route but the only question is why are they wasting DDs on this service
** Maybe once 102 is extended to SAP/East Camp, loading in opposite direction b/w Sengkang and East Camp will improve.

Seems like you stay that side. Can you do 983 (DD) and 979 (DD) loading analysis for both AM and PM? Also if you happen to do, please check interval with bus in front.
Thank you!
