When they're desperate for more BCs they will offer higher basic salary.

Sorry lor. You think the government do not know there will be people who will take advantage of this, by not applying to the new company early and only apply when the new company decides to increase the salary?
Even if increase, there is also a limit to it.
If there is not enough manpower for the new company, the government would probably intervene and force the existing company to transfer some of its people to the new company.

If that happens and they come under the new operator's contract, then the whole GCM process is a farce.
"Borrowing" staff temporarily is possible though (e.g. past SMRT Buses strike).

That is long overdue. It is a problem the industry has continually denied for years. And nobody is willing to admit that they should be paying higher fares to cope with the costs of buying new buses and recruiting sufficient bus drivers.
Also, it makes no sense to me when LTA is contracting a marketing agency to create recruitment ads!

If they still don't have a livery design to start painting on buses, this is what we may end up at launch (all of them belong to the same operator in Sydney):

mixed LTA livery, soon.
I thought the common livery already settled liao?
It is like the livery on the Downtown Line MRT trains, right?
Saw this at Tower Transit Singapore website (http://towertransit.sg/2015/10/01/affected-employee-briefings-we-cant-wait-to-meet-you/)
I do not think that is the common livery. It's probably edited from their red colour common livery at London.
The common livery is probably the same one on the Downtown Line MRT trains, as seen in the artist impressions of Changi bus depot and Kim Chuan bus depot.
White colour background with blue and green horizontal stripes.

I hope so...the lobbyists have a very different idea on the livery.
As far as I know, Transit Systems never had their own livery design on bus operations anywhere else. Their standard practice is to stick the logo/name above the door/driver cab (photos above).

Wow, they revived the SG plate (used for goods vehicle before they switched to the G series). The only concern is that there are a few goods vehicle owners that still retain the SG plate, and that might end up having regos being skipped. Maybe they should have used something like "BUS xxxx" instead

That has the potential to get messy, unless they adopt a unified fleet numbering (as in Perth and Sydney, photos above).
As for BUS prefix, at least one city uses it.

So in the end what happen? The incumbents also offer higher salary n thus the newcomer does not have enough manpower at all.

By the time , it is too late. Minimum 450 bc needed for TT. Around 100-150 current BC interested in moving over. So TT still need to find 300 n train them also. SBST/SMRT dun think even is able to train 300 BC in 6 month as well. Can TT do it? TT is too optimistic on hiring BC I think.
TT is even offering their BC to go for course to upgrade themselves. Problem is that do u have time to go for the courses ESP for those split shift BC?
Actually, why must they make it so complicated? Just transfer every affected bus driver over to the new company la.
Pay wise, just standardise it la. Let the LTA set the pay, while the bus company just pay whatever they have to pay the bus drivers.
Training wise, need to train meh? If the bus driver is driving the exact same route and same bus model, he already knows how to drive that route and that bus model.
Whereas for upgrading, that can be done after everything settles down. Bus drivers can go for paid training/upgrading on days when they do not have to work. I'm sure bus drivers have a few off days in a week.

In the end the incumbents did offer slightly more basic pay but of course with some allowances cut..Now no more free air tickets already. For staff above 20 years of svc they will be entitled to claim up to 3k max and 1.5k for 15-19 years svc for their travelling holidays.

In other words, LTA should lenient the license Class listing and since most of the big public buses are using Auto gear, they should also consider special license permit for those holding Class 3A, so that in the worst case scenario, there is still some hope from this 3A group.
Suggesting the a special permit license, listed as Class 4B(Only for Class 3A holders). Same rules apply as to Class 4A, which means this special license has to be returned upon leaving the company.
The question should be: Will SMRT and SBST continue to keep excess BCs employed after services are handed over to TT despite the fact that fewer drivers will be needed?

if it is so easy....... but the fact that it is not easy... think u better go and study lah...

they are alway short of BCs....understand that SBST BCs are currently working on 7 days shift and then one day break....with more BCs, they can work on 6 days work and 1 day rest and also cut down on OT....

Why not nationalise our bus transport? That's what you have essentially proposed.
The differentating factor between bus operators is the labour.

Fun fact: BUS plate has same checksum as SBS plate.
