I got a feeling that there will be 4 operators after the 12 packages is introduced,Of course the two incumbent will have a majority share of the pie..One is Tower Transit and another is from Asia.
So far, for those BSEP buses, they are barred from commercial advertisement. So when TT takes over the Bulim buses, will they be allowed to sell ad space on their Bulim buses?
Not sure if anyone has realised, but I feel that we are beginning to talk rubbish; beating around the bush on the same topics over and over again.
Like, read the press releases about it that were published previously. Many of the things we are not sure about have already been clarified there.
The only thing that still makes sense is bus deployments and advertisements.
I do not know about the rest, but I actually think that we are going in the right direction. This bus forum is returning back to its original purpose - for people to enjoy the hobby.
Maybe we should keep it this way, where all the technical stuff write at the technical thread, while all the discussion stuff write at the discussion thread.
Okay. Ignore what I had said. Let's continue what we are doing.

Yes, I think bus companies operating the bus services in the GCM (Government Contracting Model) are allowed to use the BSEP (Bus Services Enhancement Programme) buses to generate advertising revenue. If I remember correctly, they are also allowed to advertise a larger portion of the bus than what is allowed in the current model.

Interesting. Do you mean larger portion of the bus itself? Hmm. Since we have common livery, perhaps we may soon see a return to full body ads covering the front like what is seen in HK currently.
Hey I just realised, the question that we forgot to ask...
What about EDS formatting?
SBS and SMRT currently follow different EDS formatting. Looking at those buses that TT or other operators take, they will be getting Gorba, Hanover, LECIP from SBS-spec buses and Mobitec from SMRT-spec buses.
SBS EDS uses number on the right, top row is passing streets/landmarks, bottom row in bold is >DESTINATION. Both left-aligned.
SMRT EDS uses number on the right, top row in bold is DESTINATION, botton row is via passing streets/landmarks, and every now and then it scrolls to show the DESTINATION occupying the entire left area. Text may be left-aligned or centred, usually centred.
Which format will be used for GCM?

There are a few clues from TT's operations elsewhere:
Thanks. Looks interesting. Of course, this is under the assumption that TT gets to pick the formatting, and that all the models of EDS are compatible with it.

Except the third photo, EDS models in question are either Mobitec or Hanover Displays.
This one is Mobitec EDS as well:
As far as I know, EDS formatting is usually left to the operators. Even if an attempt is made to standardize its format, it is usually poorly enforced and result in frequent changes (e.g. Perth).
I see, thanks. I wouldn't exactly prefer having no destination though (like those VIA XXX alone). Would personally rather have the terminating destination shown at all times.

It cycles between 'via' and the end destination.
From experience, a maximum of three per cycle (including end destination).
I know what you mean.
Well, at the end of the day, it's up to TT and LTA to decide...
They will change over time.
It took a while for SBS Transit and SMRT Buses to decide on the current format, though IMO it gets worse every time they change it.
u know tower transit bus livery. green color?

i doubt so. likely to be common LTA livery with Tower Transit logos.

So what is the update on the common livery? Aside from "Wrights with white rear", we don't even know whether there is a common livery or not, but likely since they bothered to create an SG plate series. If there is, possibly either the one like the DTL trains (white/blue/black), or the white/orange one that is used in LTA promotional materials and as the background for the Off-Peak Pass ad. Anyone got updates?
not 2 mention there is also the issue of interior scheme... common livery on outside easy, just all respray, resticker oso can
it's more of the interior, if TT get A22/E500, also get B9TL/Citaro, exterior look same, interior totally different seat cushion wall floor grabpoles...
infact lucky ezlink readers standardized, otherwise that one also diff...

I still doubt that the common livery (if such thing exists) will be DTL livery or the white and orange livery.
DTL is a fully underground line so its livery is not so important as it's blocked by the playform screendoors. That's not the case for buses. Whereas for the white and orange livery, I feel that it's just a (rather cartoonish) representation only.
Who knows that LTA is not secretly designing a livery (just like the concept buses)?

A public bus does not become undeployable just because the grabpoles and seat cushions are not of a certain colour.

I think SBS3975T's just asking whether the interior will not be standardised. He told me previously that he's wondering if this will affect future purchases' specs.

Well only these two depots is mentioned in my email reply by them..Could be true.
By future, SBST & SMRT should still be staying At least at an acceptable amount where they could run Train Disruption Shuttles...
The Public Transport Wordpress Article for Alexander Dennis Enviro500 mentions in a table that Enviro500s are going to be registered SG5001C onwards. But earlier I heard that SG500x is B9TL for now (All Enviro500s now are with SMB plate). So which one is correct?

yes. i am just wondering cos actually i realised, it's possible to standardize seat covers since all using vogelsitze the system 750 or what. the qn is when will start standardizing that, if ever.
