South Korea has officially received the E500 Demonstrator from ADL for trial(8/12 - 26/12), which was once trialed in North America & Mexico...
3 svcs will be tested with each duration of 3 - 4 days, after which it'll be driven to various depots for inspection before commencing on the next selected svc...
This is the same unit, with repainted livery, but retaining the previous white-strip environment decals on the window... Everything is retain in US-spec...

To this currently:
Only passing not starting same like Yishun no DD service originating from there..
ADL really push their products worldwide,I understand Malaysia also order 80 units..
Yes, to what I recall, it was SMRT that said about DDs on 960. Probably they had an oversight of the issue of the trees along Bt Timah Rd? Or if you see it another way, SMRT might have plans to introduce a SWT with DDs for 960 between Woodlands and Bt Panjang or between Woodlands and Stevens Road.
I dont believe LTA will decide to chop down those 2 trees so easily if they have not acted on it for the past 15-20 years. I guess those trees are protected. I believe SBST would have wanted to deploy DDs on Svc 66 long time ago and even on 67 when it was under SBST but I suppose the trees were the issue. Also to be taken note is the fact that 67 only got high capacity buses (articulated buses) after handing over to TIBS (now SMRT).
Till today 66 runs on a full SD fleet and 48 (where some split shift DDs could do some good) also runs on full SD fleet. So these 2 services are probably still gonna use articulated buses in the near future and maybe see how it goes after the A24s arrive? 960 has already seen an influx of rigids recently - from having a 100% articulated fleet in the past - possible sign of a reduction of capacity?

Probably waiting for those trees come crushing down onto vehicles and causes death then they decide to get rid of the trees... And then they will give some excuses again...

It was SMRT's plan to put in DDs on 960 when the trees are cleared, but the one who doesn't listen is the other party, causing long delay to upgrade 960 fleet...
The SWT for 960, i guess it would be better like this:
960A [Woodlands Reg Int <> Queen St(Fu Lu Shou Tower)] Loop during peak
960B [Marina Ctr > Woodlands Reg Int] DD fleet during peak/wkend/pub. holiday
via Express route: Keng Lee Rd > Thomson Rd > Whitley Rd > PIE(back to normal route)
Just introduce a 960E service with DD... use the flyover at newton circus there instead of using the side road.....
or all trips with DD for 960 will prefix with 960X and use the flyover..... only skip 3 stops at each side of the road.... should be not much issue...

The two trees logic is strange. As another friend said here, govt has chopped forests not just trees. so I don't see what the big issue here is. Maybe just a matter of time.
Coming to 48, it cannot use DDs even then coz of Tanjong Katong South. Coming to 66, its ok not to have any DDs, since you have full fleet DD on sv 65 from Little India to Bedok Reservoir and many other services in parallel. On Bukit Timah stretch, you have 157/174 join in that have parallel route all the way upto PIE at Jurong/Bukit Batok.
So mainly it is 67/960 that need the DDs asap.

I like the suggestion of 960X. It's creative and practical, but I am not sure, LTA has the appetite to make bold changes like these. Hope it does (:
What's wrong with LTA? Still not deployed any of the Enviros to any services this month. SBST was done, SMRT services still pending (where it is needed the most). Lousy management.

LTA probably gone for long break now. Christmas n new year coming, clearing block leave i guess.
Saw 2 unregistered E500s at KJE today...

66 ok not to have DDs? I beg to differ. Its demand from Jurong East/Bukit Batok to Little India is not light either.

Still ok la... you have sv 67 to cover up... you have sv 174/157 as alternatives.. then you have sv 64/65... and towards its final leg also have sv 228...
It is unlike sv 960 and sv 67 that has a very unique route.
Yes, once the road is cleared to allow DDs to use... i am sure BNDEP/SLBP will give some DDs to sv 66... though I don't think it will get majority DD fleet given the number of alternative options... or if there are way too many DDs available.

The most it will get 4-5 DDs

If it's real, then 75 might get DDs soon...
Haiz if its true then wasted consider 75 has freq improved over the past months...should give those DDs to 172 or 187 instead

The BSEP slot might get upgraded to Enviro. Question is would 1 high capacity bus in the entire fleet really make a difference. I am sure Holland/Grange residents will be pleased, though~!

DD on the pic was 3503G
is either an edit (most likely) or epull...
Those who are awaiting for ADL to deploy on Yishun services, don't worry. SMRT have reserved around 20 - 40 ADL buses for Yishun. In the meantime, Yishun Temp Int will open a bit later to January.

The new busstops around Yishun MRT and the current Int have to be fully operational before the opening of Temp Int, if not, it would be absurd causing lots of unneccessary chaos at the old busstops...

Yes, we have been expecting the opening for long... we will have to wait for press release to see exact date... yes... from BSEP side... looks like the ADLs have been kept SP so that can be used on Yishun services.
I would say 172 could take in more bendies. For 172 loading, most of the crowds at peak hours come from the SCDF/Tengah Airbase/Keat Hong Camp. All these people usually carry very big bags and I doubt they will go up. And the people that board earlier on in the route, they are more likely to stay dowstairs since there is space. Also, between CCK int and CCK Ave 1, the travel time is very short and people boarding 172 in these areas will not go up. It would be better to let 180 take in DDs and the Bendies go over to 172.
Overall SMRT Trunk services that should definitely use DD (IMO): 106, 180, 188, 190, 700, 857, 960, 963, 965, 966, 969, 972, 985
SMRT Trunks that could use Bendies: 67, 172, 176, 187, 189, 851, 854, 856, 962, 964
