Hasn't it struck anyone how SMRT has completely ignored sv 106?
sv 106 has not got any DDs from SMRT side inspite of it being a CBD service, going really to the heartland and most crowded areas within CBD.
I find it quite strange that 106 didn't get any DDs from SMRT side.
Most of its DDs have gone to 963 followed by 190.

Maybe 106 does not require the need for dds from smrt side and also there will be bsep batch 3 but just not yet registered. If you see the SMRT Buses purchases MAN A22 buses (Part 2) by you will see that smb3117m and smb3118k was spotted at woodlands bus park

How does it not require DDs from SMRT side... Shouldn't the priority be to replace bendies with DDs for CBD services? And even otherwise 106 requires SD-->DD slot conversion.

Yes.. so? 3509 is sv 106 perm... but that is BSEP... not from SMRT.

I can double-tap TIB429E on SMB5006L. It was on 106 since last weekend (based on cameo lists) and for 2 consec days (based on personal spottings). On Mon (26/1) it arrived after a SWT 106A (3562K) in the morning @ Clementi.

BSEP so not from SMRT?
What logo is it carrying? Who's driving the bus? Where do complains go to? Who sets its timetable?
The purpose of BSEP additions is to provide a boost in bus capacity during a time slot where it is not operationally profitable to the opco to add further buses due to various reasons (such as short trip demands, lack of pax, etc). The company knows very well where this gapping holes are and simply uses gov't funding to plug them.
By saying it is not from SMRT simply denying that all these buses are not operated by them, despite the fact that they are but is paid by BSEP funds.

There is a difference between BSEP deployment and SMRT deployment. BSEP has been fleet addition that got upgraded once E500s came in. That's why the regos are also registered differently. Apart from BSEP DDs, SMRT needs to upgrade its bendy slots on 106 to DD.
106 stated only 3 perm DDs but everyday theres bound for a couple of DD cameos

Does not change the fact that the bus is registered with an SMB plate, driven by a SMRT BC, painted in SMRT livery, running on a SMRT route, scheduled by a SMRT route planner, and dispatched from a SMRT depot. The only difference is that the cost of the bus along with the operating costs is paid for by the govt, but so is the revenue put back into bsep funds.

Doesn't change the fact... that without BSEP, SMRT would have been in a very very bad place on its own... Doesn't change the fact that SMRT still needs to convert its non-BSEP bendy slots into non-BSEP DDs.
IMO the case of 106 is not as bad as 190. 106 loading is not so bad and its not very often where you see 2 bendys coming together and clogging up the whole place (a very common sight on 190). With the limited DDs purchased by SMRT, I would support giving more priority to do conversion of Bendy to DD on 190. This will definitely do more good in solving the road clogging problem in town than giving some to 106 and some to 190. Secondly 106 also no express sector. When SMRT has more DDs to spare, Im sure 106 will convert. After all LTA never said eliminate Bendys from town right? Its just reduce the number of Bendys in town.
only boarded the bus once,on svc 106,smb5002y

To me it doesn't matter whether it is SMRT or BSEP DDs on those SMRT services; I am contented with at least 3 DDs on long haul services...it is not like all the non-BSEP DDs are going to replace all the bendies anyway.

You also have to note... many times 106 and 190 come together all along the stretch of Orchard road... hogging a lot of space... hence to me 106 getting DDs is more important than 963. Though I am loving the fact that DDs on 963 are doing a great job.
My point: Next set of buses from SMRT should be dedicated in converting SD-->DD slot on 106 and 190. After fulfilling these, 176, 188 and 851 should be taken next.
I have a feeling SMRT will finish converting 190 and then the rest will probably go to 188, 857 (once Yishun interchange moves),960, 966 and 969. If DDs are cleared for Bt Timah Rd, 960 might also see a 190 type of conversion. 857 might see a case like 963 where 50% converts to DD but I dont know why SMRT never chose to give perm bendys to this service in the past. DDs will be well utilised on 857. 176 also I dont know because SMRT seems to be putting DDs mostly on services with express sector. 67, 851 and 854 will probably receieve from BSEP side but from SMRT side I am really not sure. Depends how any spare units are left to go around from the 201 ADLs

Good to see SMRT getting the majority chunk now.
