All thos expecting DD on 851 - forget it, unless it comes as a BSEP add.
I think SMRT is going to convert all bendy slots on 190 to E500 asap and give a few more to 188.
We will see 190 probably going WAB in next round at this speed.
I think SMRT is doing the right thing, just that after 188, 190, 963 gets its fill ~ what is really left for other SMRT services? Hardly any DDs...
Expecting a DD order soon.
Just nice MAN A95 lor..
Anyway, 5034 - 966 2nd weekend..hopefully they boost the 3rd ADL to 966, 5 ADLs to 969 and also 2 for 187, 4 for 963 soon..
960 can expect up to at least 10..or more..
actually, personally, I feel that when SMRT procures more Double Decker buses, it should only procure Enviro 500s, or Volvo Wrights Gemini, or both. It may be better to use existing models, than to introduce new models.

MAN A95 doesnt share the same engine as the A24?Even if they purchase the lower output MAN 18.290 its also the same manufacturer mah..Half of the technicians is contractors brother..How standardise your fleets also dont expect good maintenance
I heard 960 have ADLs running today..not bad!
Hopefully 169, 187, 963, 969 will also get more ADLs on weekends(and weekdays).
965 can get 1 or 2 ADLs running for weekends.

960 today: 3548C, 3550U & 5035C

That's a good call. 960 is completely empty between Woodlands and Woodlands road as well as Marina Center to Bugis... but at Bugis/Little India stops, on weekends you find a good 30 people boarding at each stop... so good idea to have DDs on weekends too.
I feel 67 also deserves more DDs on weekends... even if weekday plies only 2-3 DDs... weekends should increase the number.

Lol... Not completely empty from Wdls to Wdls Rd, tdy onboard 3550U from WRI, atleast 10 pax onbaord, then gradually aft Kranji Stn, the loading shot up to near 60% before Junction 10... Full house before hitting BKE...
Svc188 ADL was full to the door ard 6:40pm at IMM, next bus 5mins(TIB888M) also depart with 90% full. Seems like 188 also need more DDs add..
Well seems that the deployment is leaning towards KJ or Bulim side instead of Yishun services
Services 172,180,184 and 189 looks the likelier candidate

Tot u r the "trust me" guy? should have inside information mah..
No lah, I think Yishun Services will get first! They need it more anyway.
172 probably will stay with bendys for the nearby future. As for 184, bendys suit the loadings of this service better than DDs - its one of the few trunk services I feel should stick with bendy and get A24s in future.
As for 180, yes, this service can get DDs but then and again this service does not have BSEP slots as of now. Highly doubt SMRT is going to deploy the 50XX DDs on this service when they already need them for other services for SD-> DD conversion. Also 180 is the only 100% Bendy service left with SMRT

I doubt. The KJ registrations should be for converting bendy slots on 188 to E500. Also for 190... and will get transferred to Bulim.
I am surprised that WPDEP hasn't got its fare share yet inspite of Yishun temp interchange opening.

The A95 uses the same engine as the A22 and A24, so it will be wiser for them to buy the A95 instead of introducing an additional type of bus with different engines and parts.

The benefits of commonality of parts are a definite given, and if you fancy, heap in economies of scale and such 'standardization' will definitely make sense. That i do not disagree.
However, are the operators are really getting their money worth? A local politician not too long ago raised the idea of 'value for money', and I do question if such 'standardization' is indeed value for money.

Value for money is more to do with the quality of products offered, less to do with standardization. Generally if a customer is satisfied with a certain product, it is only sensible for them to try out and thereafter purchase related products from the same manufacturer. Just like how a consumer will buy a bar chocolate from a company, and go back for other flavours if he decided that the brand is good.
Once again how standardise or good the engine but maintance by a bunch of half hearted contractors also no point,Today repair next week broke down again
Don't worry la. It will be impossible if the rest of the BSEP E500s will all be for KJDEP. For this time round, most E500 goes to KJDEP because of converting bendies on 188 to DDs so as to declare 188 a WAB service. Then the remaining BSEP E500s will be more likely for WPDEP and few for KJDEP and BUDEP. It will be impossible if most of the remaining BSEP E500s will be mostly for KJDEP since now most E500s go to KJDEP. Also, next Monday I think SMRT will start deploying DDs on 854 and 857 since March holiday is over and also start of a busy week, same goes with 39. Then the rest like 851 856 or 860 will have DDs in the next few months.
855 also.
5034/35 to 966
5043/44 to 969
5045/46 to 960
Throw more please(and to 187, 963, 965*)![]()
* : 1-2 more for 965.
Great,Now 969 got 4 DDs,Now awaiting 187 to get a couple more.
For a start 851 should get 4,854 to get 5 and 857 to get 4
Sorry to burst your bubbles guys and gals who are hoping for DD's in Yishun esp 855/857 (though I would like to see them have DD's).
There are a few very low lying branches along Yishun Central 1 which have not been trimmed, so until that is done, the signs are that 855/857 are not slated to have DD's (along with 853 which is obvious). If there are any DD services in Yishun Interchange from SMRT side then it will be 854/856.
Looking at SMRT's history of having 851 as its most favouritely-neglected high load trunk service, it doesnt look like 851 will get DD's any time soon, probably swapping the 6 bendies for maybe 3 DD's if any. Or maybe removing all bendies and have full SD fleet. Its pretty disgusting how SMRT had been running 851.
If the branches do get trimmed one day then perhaps 855/857 are going to get DD's imminently.
Looking toward Central 2 - see the wad of branches almost touching car level reaching out nearly to the centre divider:

LTA should look into how to re route the trunk services if smrt bus service want DD

Perhaps they already did ... services with DD planned to enter Ave 2 from Central at Northpoint -> DD'able route, services with no DD planned will enter Ave 2 from Central 1 at nearer KTPH side -> non-DD'able route.
Of course, they can still get the branches trimmed.
Just wait for e official news..At first who would have thought that 67 will get DDs?
