Err which country assemble the body?

So the SMRT production batch altogether is 201 right? Reg no until SMB5201? And BSEP Enviros got 201 buses also?

RIght now registered up to SMB3596M [96 buses] & SMB5067K [67 buses].
Total: 163 / 201 buses
Registration no. up to SMB3602D and SMB5072U were spotted by a user [refer to previous page].
Originally posted by SMB51M:SMB3597K, SMB3598H, SMB3599E, SMB3600J, SMB3602D, SMB5068H, SMB5069E, SMB5070A, SMB5071Y and SMB5072U spotted inside WPDEP
Probable no. of buses by next month in total: 174 buses
174 / 201 buses = 102 buses [SMB3501L - SMB3602D] + 72 buses [SMB5001A - SMB5072U]
Currently there are more BSEP buses [registered] than non-BSEP, so I don't think there will be SMB5103P or SMB5201P for now.
Of the over 570 buses that SMRT has confirmed delivery for, 218 are introduced and funded under SMRT’s participation in the Land Transport Authority’s Bus Service Enhancement Programme.

573 buses = 332 MAN A22 + 40 MAN A24 + 201 ADL
If there's any mistake, please alert me.
If im LTA and SMRT the order should be 193 MAN A22,80 MAN A24,100 MAN A95 & 201 ADL Enviro 500
i think some will go over to the new bus operator under BES.
Are you telling me Tower Transit will use excess buses from SBST and SMRT?(Citaro/B9TLs which got restricted 1st gear and A22/Enviro 500s)?

Don't waste the money getting any more bendies. Not practical for a small country wanting to squeeze in 6.9 million people.
Convert that 80 A24 to 100 A95 instead.

I think you should know how BSEP and GCT works in future.
All the buses now will eventually belong to LTA and LTA will allocate these buses to the contracted operators.
So yes, those buses, the BSEP ones, now serving Bukit Batok and Jurong East will eventually go to LTA control and lease out to Tower Transit.

Its not practical for DDs to ply intratowns and feeders too.
Pls dont get me started. The reasons are clear and it had been debated countless times

It has been pretty clear that what kind of direction LTA is going in future, so no point debating.
Double deckers can be used on feeders and intratown services in SBST areas and have been using for decades. So it's still practical. Even if no double deckers are used, LTA will improve the frequencies with more single deckers and introduce more services within new towns to balance out the loads.

Which is why load management is worse at SBST side!
More single deckers can, they need to make sure they can sustain high freq also.

Load management is even worse for SMRT because there are not enough bus services and frequencies are very bad, till the state that is so bad that there are so many problems in SMRT buses a few years ago. All until BSEP comes in.
SBST on the other hand can cater for more services, having good frequencies in many feeders.
That's the purpose of GCT. More buses, better frequencies and more services.
SMRT slight improvement for the past months is because they use DDs..Vicamour is right even though it may sound not practical but in reality feeders in SBST territories proved to be much better.Imagine i can deploy 11 DDs for 334 rather than 7 SDs and 6 bendies right? And do you know 806 and 860 using 13 buses for such routes? Its due to not having enough high capacity buses and more bendies meaning need for space at depots for parking.

V, could you amend that to 120 13m A39s?
squeezing 6.9m is crazy! what's more with squeezing 10m ...

The truth hurts, but...
Though majority of the svcs, namely the trunks, do better with DDs, Feeders and intratowns do perform better with bendies.
I'm sure you have heard me say this many times. Faster unloading time, optimum space usage etc etc. It is all about realising the advantages of each and every bus type, and be innovative and intelligent enough to make good use of them.
Unfortunately, LTA isnt really that open to it now. Perhaps after GCT they may pump some, but for now its really not to conclude LTA has given up.
As mentioned alr, the feeders and intratowns are minority compared to the rest of the svcs. So makes one wonder how does parking a few dozen more bendies really cost that much space? After all, if i were to choose an additional perhaps 480m2 of space, versus thousands who have to be late coz they have trouble getting on or off, its really no contest is it.
So you say SBST could do better. Clearly you have not seen the other side of the story, look at SBST 222. Even if at the very least, if JE svcs could do well with DDs, well I applaud them. But they have not used bendies before have they. Residents there will probably have gotten used to it. Not for SMRT side though! And dont push the blame to TIBS, bendies were great to have around, and it is still my fav bus op in SG. SMRT may have screwed up a little, but it does not change the fact that bendies are the most suitable for these heartland jobs.

From the news article,
"The transport authority also said the system will also allow it to work with public transport operators to make timely interventions such as adjusting bus schedules, replacing single-deck buses with double-deck or bendy buses, and adding half-way trips to help ease crowding"
Bendy buses are still an option, provided that the route isn't suitable or applicable for DDs..

I would interpret that more as capacity upgrades (timetable changes) using the existing fleet of articulated buses.
Frankly,As a person who have drive bendy before i hate to say this..Maybe 4-6 years ago its more practical to use bendy buses but now with 5.7m already the road so narrow,so crowded,Many buses on the road its like a timebomb driving bendy buses even for a short trunk. For now more and more ppl already educated and they would not hesitate to go upper deck even for 3-4 stops..Bo bian our country so small yet so many ppl living in

Bro,You know the real reason why SMRT only purchased 40 units of A24?Because they already knew that LTA doesnt favour any bendy purchase in future so they lan2 have to go on with the orders..I can also guaranteed you that these A24s wont last long.Imagine if Yishun will be bidded under Seletar package and they lost it again?40 units not so bad compared if they ordered 100 units..At least can distribute among Wld,CCK feeders..LTA doesnt ban bendy but it not interested in buying..Its SMRT freewill that they lan2 buy

Will they even go up to the upper deck? 3-4 stops for 161/168 and some other routes, maybe/definitely... But 3-4 stops that is short distance?
Even educated people know that going up and down is plainly waste of energy..for just 3-4 stops.
PLEASE take a look from the perspective of a daily commuters, not a bus enthu. Obviously enough, only bus enthu is "excited" to go up the upper deck, even for just a short 10mins.
Same as the train, who is stupid to move towards the centre of the car when he/she is alighting next stop? LOL
Sadly,Thats is happening in SBST territories,Even 291 you can see upper deck full..So we cant say that theyre stupid right?I speak not as enthusiasts but as a former driver of SMRT.The bendy era will soon gonna extinct.
In Singapore context, Bendy really no go. One can argue the beneficials of bendies in feeder until cow comes home, the fact and based on observation of SMRT purchased, long term will be gone
