SMRT very actively yet silently reduces capacity on routes like 851, 854 and 969 while boasting about an addition of a mere 1 double-deck bus on 856. Yes, ever since 969 went full WLDEP, the number of DDs have not increased while the number of bendies have decreased. I can clearly see that some of the AMDEP bendies have been replaced by A22s. Also, what happened to AMDEP crossovers to 969?
actually while SMRT upgraded 1 DD (or maybe is LTA BSEP not even SMRT), SMRT in turn removed 1 851 bendy xover to 856... only they wont say
Service 284 receives a 4th bus since Mon (13th Jul) under BSEP. The 2 BSEP buses were just 1-2 mins apart from departure.
On the other hand, Service 282 (with a much longer route) still using 4 buses with no fleet additions whatsoever.
AMDEP will be taking in DDs at a later date after its modification so no need to worry. It was said from ex-AMDEP starter. Maybe thats the reason why they reduce capacity on 851 and 854. But need to wait...

still not an excuse for SMRT to reduce further capacity
the most blatant example of SMRT's love for reducing capacity is 911. all of the bendy buses magically disappear during the weekends despite the overwhelming fact that the demand for 911 is still high on weekends. after complaining, they did put a bendy or two but then as expected, it was only temporary and they disappeared. people are not stupid, SMRT.
From what I see...
Sv184 gets 1/2 bunch up in the day(noon). However, when it comes to night(8+), the SDs are usually placed back to back, with SLIGHTLY shorter intervals than bendy. The min. SDs is usually 3, sometimes it's more than 3(at night). They should make the intervals for SDs shorter.
Sv969 gets downgrade after AMDEP? Don't seems so...? Those ex-811 bendy are covering the slots for the ex-AM ones. DD spotted almost everytime on the route, even on Sunday.
Sv854 indeed major downgrade after this round, not even 857 gets more DD to somewhat "cover" the part from YCK rd(at least).
By right, I tot by returning the slots for sv811 back to AMDEP will means more A24s deployed on there, but sadly no.
Sv911 still have at least 1-2 bendy running on weekends. It's usually 1 on TQ slots, another on AP. The no. may increase to 3 but usually, there would be at least 1(on TQ). Although it's seems reasonable in the day, evening period(5:20+) and PM off-peak(9+) frequency can be rubbish.
But AM peak surely got downgrades somehow? 2 969 crossover(1041H/1071X) is now taken by MAN, not sure about the 2 911E/963 related slots, but there's a new 911Ex169 AM slot done by bendy.
Sv161/168 seems to be getting SDs more frequently now...during weekdays..
though someone said it gets additional SD buses during peak(?)
969 still has its dds intact but some amdep bendies got replaced by a22s.
Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:Yes SMRT has been playing this trick for last one year. Look at sv 856. Was full bendy fleet. 1 slot got downgraded to SD, then 2... today fleet has 6 SDs from SMRT side... while the DDs have been added from BSEP pool.
Same goes for 187. Reduced 1 bendy slot... BSEP DD added. 172 frequently there are only 2 bendies perm.. sometimes have 3 or 4... now putting DDs
180 fleet has 11 buses for so long... when definitely needs more
184 should have been full fleet bendy... has so many rigids spamming
189 housefull buses yet only 4 bendies
851 has reduced so many bendy slots over years... same goes for 854
857/966/985 did not have any high capacity buses for so so long... and now you see both 857 and 966 have potential to get +100 pax... in spite of having DDs
307 neglected with so many rigids... when need bendies...
911/811 classic examples of intra-towns managed so badly.
172 has always been operating with 4 bendies, just that the other 2 bendies are cameos...that is why only 2 bendies was reflected as perm... the slots are S102, S103, S104 and S105...
307 i heard cannot have bendies due to the tight turn at Teck Whye Lane...

True,too many A22s

168 SD is extra bus driven by off schedule standby BC usually..

I think it is because Clementi Ave 4 has a new HDB that has opened... and now the number of people residing here will increase.
282 on the other hand is more like intra town between ave 5 and west coast than feeder for west coast residents... always see people from west coast area rely on 201 and 285/78 to get to MRT rather than 282... and 282 gets bulk of its pax from ave 5 to MRT... (but you have sv 7 also here)...
That's the only reason I see 282 not getting any add... and loading also is just about okay... but you have so many spare BSEP buses... 282 might get an add too in future.

Wow... so until AMDEP modifies.. hell to the pax who take these services.... this is typical SMRT style...

While SMRT/LTA pampered svc like 966 and 972 they have indeed forgotten svc like 172,184,187 & 969 which need more DDs.If quantity is the problem then order more DDs la as we know how cash rich Temasek is.
SMRT always pounces of opportunities to reduce capacity on services whenever they can but they drag their balls on the floor when it comes to adding capacity. Stingy.

Given the loading, like I had expected... sv 857 gets another SD --> DD conversion... now almost 50% DD fleet...
Also 857A slots are SD... so now all 857 DDs do the full route to Suntec and back.
Finally sv 187 gets another DD add... hopefully won't happen like last time... last time BSEP gave sv 187 DD.. and then slyly SMRT converted its bendy slot to rigid...
Hopefully this time around 187 truly gets a capacity increase. Need more DDs on 187 given its long distance travelers.
172: New schedule for Saturdays wef 18/7/15, add 2 reg and convert S2 to TQ
Total: 9 AP, 3 TQ
**Hopefully there will be fleet add on weekdays as well...

Are you saying that the Sv 857A slots now are SDs or it has been this case for some time? Because occasionally in the past 2 months, I do see Enviros appearing on Sv 857A during AM Peak. ![]()

Recently, haven't noticed 857A to have DDs (but again I don't observe this area everyday, just know that 857A has rigids as perms and not DDs)... 1-2 months back you consistently had 1 or 2 DDs plying on 857 and the deployment was messy because it would follow a 857 rigid in 3-4 mins - so really didn't make sense.
Would be better if Wldep side deploy 10 DDs and Amdep side with 10 SDs including 857A.

From what I have heard, 857 will be getting full fleet DDs in the future whereas AMDEP slots can be converted to DDs after its modification later.
