Hi mr SBS9631X, I saw Sbs 3 double decker bus along punggol central this morning 8.10am. This means confirmed got Sbs 3 do full trip. Not just 3A and 3B only. Up to now, I still have not taken Sbs 3 DD. I saw Sbs 3 DD (registration plate 3801L) from Punggol towards pasir ris interchange now and going by downtown east (pasir ris drive 3) in direction of tampines at 9.05am. Cheers. Thanks.

3801L is usually on the shortworking trips in PSR area though during Peak Hours. 3807X is the one doing full trips usually so far. ![]()
So idk if they switched the slots around for both DDs on the day you spotted 3801L at Punggol that time ![]()

Surprise Upgrade for sv 186
sv 186 got 2 SDs converted to DD... now operating with 7 DDs, 8 SDs... contrary to earlier 5 DDs, 10 SDs... almost 50% DD fleet...
It surely is for the Shenton Way crowd from condos in Havelock road area... especially the River Place stop I know gets sv 186 a good 30-35 pax in AM (just one stop!)
The buses would run almost empty in opposite direction though.

I don't know why even LTA also thinks that 85 deserves DDs. It's a good service, but the loading doesn't warrent 5 DDs yet... And with 102 in place, 85's loading may actually drop considerably.
LTA/SBST got excessive order of DDs is one of the reasons la..Unlike SMRT.I'm not suprised if svc that only 3/4 full during off peak also receive DDs.

Yes... not needed at all.. and you are right with 102 coming in, the loading on 85 will drop further.. .already got 103 also between Yishun and Jalan Kayu now.
But on the other hand... there are massive HDBs opening up to public for occuapncy this year... occupancy has been slow but guess LTA is expecting it to pick up. I think 102 will be another service like sv 50/860/972 that will do extremely well between Sengkang West Way and Sengkang MRT..
85 might have a more gradual increase in loading. Could have upgraded later on if needed.. Right now.. .too excessive.. though Punggol Central residents will be very happy.
sv 20 gets another BSEP fleet add.. unfortunately a Citaro instead of WEG. So now fleet = 12 buses.

sv 70 , sv 90, sv130 also got SD to DD conversion in aug/sept...

166 got another capacity downgrade with 8 SDs in fleet now.. 2 years back only had 4 SDs... this shows 166 def has lost some stem.
168 on another hand got another fleet add... operating now with 29 DDs... apparently during AM/PM peak, have 05 min departure intervals from both Bedok and Woodlands.

1) Dun they wanna cut down on the number of DDs serving this service?
2) They should deploy more on Weekends as I see there are many passengers during the weekends.
3) I would suggest 161 to be back as a dual control with AMDEP... Seems like not up to standard with 168..

161 and 168 both are equally good in standard.
161 operates 21 DDs from Hougang with all express on TPE
168 operates 29 DDs but from Bedok via Tampines and also TPE stop / Seletar stop before going to Woodlands
So if you take the runtime and distance into account, both services are plying at an interval of 05-07 mins during peak hours.

not sure where u got the info that two years ago , that there is only 4 SD for sv166?
sgwiki data dated 18/9/2013 show that there are 7 SD for sv166.
and for this year, someone have been editing Sgwiki for sv166 fleet, upgrading some SD to DD and then edit again...and then edit again... all the while, without any official change in timetable...
858 did not get 5 additional buses as mentioned. Maybe it did, but then soon realized it is too excessive and the bunching/traffic conditions don't help solve the issue.
So now 858 to 30 buses... so means 2 buses added.

Yeah, the current arrangement is good enough. Make one of them run 3A/3B during Peak, and the other on the full-trip during Peak.

I actually don't need 518 needs another full-day DD though. They just need to figure out the proper timings to deploy those 3 current DDs they have. It doesn't make much sense for 3818P to return back to Pasir Ris area by 1850hrs or so, when the bulk of the evening crowd on 518 is still at the city area..
