Since the earlier thread crossed 2000 posts.
As per e-tt, seems service 4,69,109,410 should get BSEP add. As per cbb, maybe sv 64 too as of July-14,2014.
Sv 42. Someone previously hinted the 1 additional bus from BNDEP...
Dun think it is sv64. But 161 is getting another fleet add as well
Awesome...
A thread filled up in 7 months...
Nv seen that before
Sv115 as well. No more single bus fleet.
163m reduce 3 trips.
243 will get fleet add as well
29 added one trip I think. So might be just run time adjustment
115 getting extension? Or just for the sake of improving freq like sv 84?

Hi mr SBS5010P, sbs 84 frequency has sort of doubled up with just 1 bus addition. This BSEP improvement deserves a big clap!!! Now it is much more convenient to get to the punggol seaside. Something like return to the sbs 82 heydays in the past. So you cannot say just for the sake of improving frequency. The demand for it is there, especially so on weekends. Cheers.
i dun feel the need for an extra bus of 115 unless it gets amended. On the other hand 113 gets neglected
And if I say that the arrangement of Loyang as mentioned by lemon will only be temporary, will you believe too?

But it seems to be fleet add without route change. Had there been route change, LTA would have advertised it like they did for 63M.

163M runs with very low loading these days inspite of new developments. 242 should have got fleet add as well.
Because Sv 50 is taking most of 163M's load away
As for 115 they might as well they withdraw the route
Why would they add a bus for a low ridership svc + it isnt a full day ops svc?
If they convert 115 into a full day route with route extension still understandable
242 deserves 1 -2 more dds.. dk why 90% of the fleet are sds.

I agree. 115 has to be extended/amended. I was thinking this was the Hougang route enhancement that LTA mentioned. Current ridership on 115 is v low. It is unlike 84 that does have decent loading. This is how LTA wastes money. Hope not!
I am hoping there will be a route change announcement. At least 115 should go to the inner part of HG Ave 1 HDB flats that don't have any service, and people have to walk 400-500m to closest stop. That's why this stop sees 40-45 pax boarding at once on 45A DD in AM.

people stay in the west will know why 242 has majority of SDs
268 also have ett change...

Adjustment of run time only. No trips added. So maybe 1 or 2 dd upgrade ?
Maybe they change ett for fun ~

I think this is because 242 is not the only bus service people take to N7 from Boon Lay Int. Being in the middle, there's 181 & 243 serving St 72 people, and 192 & 193 serving Ave 4 people. The only section where 242 is the sole service from Boon Lay Int is Ave 5. Hence, SDs are able to handle the load during most of the day. It is only around peak hours when the loading is excessively large for SDs, that DDs are required.

Well, increasing the capacity of 242 (further) during peak hours may help to relieve loading off 181/243 at St 75, but not St 64. Even so, there has to be publicity to encourage people to take 242 instead of 181/243.
Alternatively, we can have a Peak Period Short Service shadowing 243G's route until st82 (making a U-turn in front of Pioneer Primary School), to reduce loading off 181/243 at St75&64 and 242 at St72&Ave4 during peak hours.

243 has been getting additional buses ever since SBS Transit started adding buses to services to increase capacity a few years ago (around 2011). Rather than keep on adding buses to 243, would it be better to create a new feeder route altogether, to serve bus stops where most passengers on 243 alight?
based on my observations (which is very likely to coincide with data collected from EZ-link card readers),
(a) new service(s) should be created to serve these areas. We should have a new PPSS shadowing 243G route and U-turn at Pioneer Primary School.
The title of this thread should be:
LTA's Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) (Part 3)

You are WRONG.
242 serves people on st 72/71/ave 5 where there is no other feeder service to interchange. St 75 has 181/243. If you observe PM peak at Boon Lay interchange, each bus is packed to door. Further more, most people alight on st 72 and ave 5 as those wanting to go to Jalan Bahar, ave 4 take 199 or 192/193.
242 is managing well. Just needs one more DD.

Well, maybe I was not clear in my explanation. The st 72 I am referring to is the part that is also along st 75, and the part that is also along ave 4 (which is also st 71). The other of st 72 and ave 4 is the part that is also along ave 5 where 99 and 185 plies.
Please do not disagree with me just for the sake of it. Why so negative? Chill, man. You know, you contradicted yourself in the "PM peak at Boon Lay interchange, each bus is packed to door" part, because this one I also got write (I say 242 load is excessively large for SD at around peak hours).
Yes, I agree with you that a swop of 242's SDs with DDs from other services is perhaps sufficient to handle the load better during peak hours. Maybe this is all the enhancement required for now. In future, we just keep replacing 242's SDs with DDs, until when all replace already, then we introduce PPSS to shadow it.
Meanwhile, 243 and 181 are almost having a full-DD deployment during peak hours. Yet, the capacity is still not enough. I think there should be a PPSS on 243G (U-turn at st82) very soon.
