Last time when i fedback to LTA, one of the reason was it will result in one bus stop being skipped (which is hougang st 11 b/s).

Currently loading within Yishun doesnt really justify it but I think the load there will increase as more Yishun N4/N5 BTO's are completed and installed with new ez-link- card-waving human beings.
Not sure about the loadings outside of Yishun / Seletar ARP though.
103 is actually a more convenient way out of Yishun for some pax staying in the inner-most inaccessible parts of Yishun N4 than many realise at the moment. For example, 103x168 (at ex Jln Kayu Terminal) is actually an alternate way to go Woodlands and it skips the pain of having to fight with the crowds to take the train.
Will be real cool to have DD pass by N3, N4 and N6.

103 actually should have done Yishun ring road before terminating to yishun interchange. 103 might get DDs because the loading from Jalan Kayu to Serangoon is very high. The Yishun sector has still not picked up.

A new supplementary service - Service 53M - will be rolled out on Sunday, 16 August 2015. Service 53M supplements Service 53 along the sector between Hougang Avenue 1 and Serangoon Central. Service 53M will also enhance connectivity to Serangoon MRT/bus interchange and local amenities.
It will ply along Hougang Avenue 1, Lorong Ah Soo, Upper Paya Lebar Road, Serangoon Central and Upper Serangoon Road. Besides enhancing the connectivity to key transport nodes, it will also provide convenient access for commuters to schools - Paya Lebar Girls' School and Yuying Secondary School - as well as to amenities such as the market/food centre along Hougang Avenue 1 and the Aljunied Community Club.
It will operate from 6.00am to 11.00pm daily
