Svc 49 extension seems to be around the corner. It is already stated on the Public Transport SG blog (https://publictransportsg.wordpress.com/2013/03/19/bus-service-enhancement-programme-bsep/), but with no date written.
Maybe the "Taman Jurong - Jurong East (Loop)" route claimed by Path Light is not just a rumour... But it would have made more sense if 49 is extended from Taman Jurong instead of Jurong West.

Yeah I would also like to see that... I was just commenting on Path Light's claims.

That is for Service 334

There's nothing wrong for two services to share the same origins and destinations. Just look at 8, 28, 31 (Tampines - Toa Payoh); 18, 38, 69 (Tampines - Bedok); and 7, 14, 196 (Bedok - Clementi).
Some joker claims that Tower Transit handed over svc 96,282,284 @ 285 in 2018 in exchange for svc 51,52,105 & 506..Hahaha

I don't see the route but this is what I think it will be
Jurong East Interchange > Jurong East Central > Boon Lay Way > Jurong East st 11 (exp) > Jurong Townhall Rd > AYE > Corporation Rd > and then continue with 49 route to loop @ Jurong West st 42, omiting Corporation Dr.
* This will provide direct connectivity to JEM, BIG BOX and Jurong East Hospital.
* Fast MRT Connection to industrial blocks around AYE, Corporation Place
Anyone has different thoughts on the extension?

Provides connection with most services plying Boon Lay Way and Jurong Town Hall Road.

It is not just the MPs (though they are very capable), anyone can. Any strange or illogical developments in public bus transportation can be attributed to lobbying.

MPs play a huge part in lobbying the LTA for new bus services. MPs represent a significant amount of residents, which give them more influence than any individual. MPs share facebook posts, attend launches of bus services and put their faces on the posters and banners of BSEP routes to show to their residents what they have done to their bus services around their homes. If it wasn't for MP intervention, why would 300's amendment be delayed? Its a fact that we have to accept, and also the reason why very few long distance full day bus services have been created under BSEP.

MPs are just one big part of the story. However, do not discount the presence of grassroots, pressure and interest groups (including the infamous 190 video). There are MPs in the East (not opposition MPs) who previously lobbied but did not get what they requested (recall one of them even resorting to operating their own bus service?).
Certain individuals or/and groups are much more vocal than others. However, they have to be sufficient large or/and vocal to tip the scales in their favour. My point is those who are vocal enough tend to get what they want. For obvious reasons, I shall not divulge what lengths they have gone to do so - things tend to get very ugly.
I am still waiting for a bus service to Pioneer MRT Station, from Jurong West Street 61, 71, 81.
Or at least a new bus service that complements 243 and 242.
49 is good as it is, I don't get the purpose of extending it? Not to mention there is already 178 from taman jurong to Jurong East. Why not just introduce SWT 178A from J.E to taman jurong or amend it to go through corporation drive instead.

This is just speculation right now that 49 will be extended to Jurong East... Taman Jurong Terminal is already built... I don't think they will scrap it so soon... It could very much be possible that 49 might get extended to Joo Koon Interchange to provide direct connectivity between Jurong West town and Joo Koon... But then we also heard that 99 will be extended to Joo Koon.. if that's the case 49 extension to Joo Koon doesn't make sense.
Another alternative is it loops at Boon Lay via JW Ave 2 as this has only 157 serving today.. and this way HDBs along st 41/42 will get direct connectivity to Boon Lay... this means st 41/42 will have to be bi-directional.
Lots of possibilities... let's wait to see what happens!

not speculation. MP already confirmed it.

according to a URA masterplan 2014,
Hu ching road will be closed in the near future, then obviously taman jurong terminal will be no more already

Hi me SBS2652G, did the MP say anything about estimated implementation date? Thanks.
I have no idea what Service 117's route would look like
November 2015 is Service 49 and 99's extension
BNDEP has around 15 spare BSEP citaro, the most out of all the depots, are we expecting a new svc from their part?

Maybe for the new Marine Parade service?
Went to Hougang Ctrl Int earlier and stayed there for an hour to observe 102 and other buses... In total, I saw 8 buses on 102, with two buses resting at any point in time (while the other 6 are on the route). If the frequency is to be kept as 11 - 12 mins (during afternoon off-peak) like today, I'm guessing there will be about 7 or 8 A/P buses daily. Maybe about 3 splits will be sufficient for Weekdays, which should be majority DDs.
Notes of 102's fleet today:
4 Citaros: SBS6338M, SBS6343Y, SBS6350B and SBS6406A.
4 WEGs: SBS3434M, SBS3440U, SBS3446D and SBS3462G.
Sequence: SBS3462G > SBS6343Y > SBS3446D > SBS6350B > SBS3440U > SBS6406A > SBS3434M > SBS6338M
Notice the alternating pattern of one DD, then one SD, then another DD and so on. And do note that today is Sunday, so the sequence should be different for tomorrow onwards...
