Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:If that's your point I agree... Ave 7 to WRI has so many services now + with many getting DD upgrades... there is huge capacity and seldom buses are full between Admiralty and Woodland MRT (while earlier they used to be).
I also agree during route planning they should have planned the route better. There is missing link between Woodlands North and South which is undeniable and will be corrected to a small extent by TEL... but will benefit only those around MRT stop wanting to travel around those areas.
904 should not have been a feeder, but a short trunk between Sembawang and Woodlands town, covering Woodlands crescent and dr 62/75... this way it did not need to do ave 7. With the current routing, there is no alternative but the route to do ave 7, otherwise it will get more winding.
problem is that not everyone who stay at 904 route take the mrt.. there are some paxes who take buses (161/168/960/963/966/187 etc) who alight at interchange and transfer to 904.. although the number might be small, but by going via Ave 7 is the most direct route for 904...

Basically many DDs getting wasted because of continuous bunching.. And there is no way to control bunching for a long route with 05 min frequency (during prime peak).
from yck terminal, each bus will take around 100 paxes at least during am peak most of the time.. one or two bus might be half full, but usually the load is very high...
Further, 72 is having demands in both direction during peak hours.... i dun see anyone go complain when sv972 added another 3 buses recently? when its demand are all one-directional.(buses are almost empty when returning to BPJ in am peak).....

You mean 972 now has a fleet of 27 DDs?? ![]()

Yes.... from 12 to 15 to 19 to 24 and now 27... someone edited sgwiki...

That's really a lot... I thought 22 buses was just right... 24 was good to have.. already have sv 972 at frequency of 04-06 mins during peak + sv 190 at a frequency of 03-05 mins.
Not sure why they needed to add another 3 buses.
972 typical loading at 5 min interval exiting Whitley road towards PIE during PM is at 55-60 pax
190 typical loading at 5 min interval exiting Whitley road towards PIE during PM is at 70-75 pax
I would have thought converting some of the MAN SDs on 190 would have been more useful than adding buses on 972.

MP keep on pushing LTA/SMRT to add buses loh..
True... sv190 should remove those MAN SDs and convert to DD instead.. but instead, heard that some of non-BSEP DDs of sv190 are doing 972 in am peak as well? that famous guy "shawn ong" keep on complaining on SMRT facebook....
looking at 190/966/972, all the demands are one directional during peak hours...buses are running almost empty in the opposite direction..
unlike sv72/88/161/168 when u have demands in both direction during peak hours, thus, i dun mind they add more buses to 72/88/161/168....
Seriously i dont think 972 have 27 buses..More or less still 24.Previously bunching like no tommorow and add 3 more buses?Siao!

MP can keep pushing... but they need to put some logic in what they do.. MP push so have DDs on sv 85... that too 5 DDs... and all run with max load of 50-60 pax during prime peak... MP push have DDs on 119... max DD gets is 2 stops of Rivervale with 55-60 pax.
Why MP does not push for BPJ other services get DD rather than keep pushing 972? Some things are just beyond me..

haha.. i am not the mp.. so i cant answer you... i only know my MP never do work.. no new services in my area (except for PPSS/Citydirect)..
go ask the MP...
I have a feeling this will happen:
502 extended back to Sengkang, reintroduction of 501 (As replacement of 502 when 502 was extended and reintroduction of 511
...

Suspected SMB3575Z n 3598 are 2 of the 3

They arrive in 4 or 6 minutes and catch up with one another

Last Thursday I spotted a line of Enviros back to back at Raffles Town Club bus stop at around 7.10pm. The sequence was 190, 972, 190, 972, 960, 972, 972, 972 and then 190, with the first few buses full to front door all the way to a very empty bus at the back.

Waste of resources ... 972 definitely needs cuts/downgrades after DTL2 opens. Send the Enviros to other more deserving services.

means more people giving up cars....... Most affected will be Paya Lebar/Hougang and Serangoon Gardens side.

No. 190 and 972 already have 20 DDs. Now to give DDs to 171, 854, 856, 859 and 961

972 and DTL basically serve different purposes. I'm not sure if many people would take bus from BPJ Ring Rd to BPJ MRT, take DTL to Newton, and again take NSL to Orchard.

True, but it will lose the pax who alight at Whitley. And every bus you have around 15 pax that alight at Whitley and transfer to 153/186/154 etc. These can already do at Botanic Gardens MRT.
Service 501, 511 and 512 will be introduced and Service 502 will be extended
possible extension on route 49?
was on bus 185 this morning. when 185 was at Jurong West Avenue 1 opposite Hong Kah Point, I saw a Scania KUB bus with the words "OFF SERVICE" at Jurong West Street 51. when 185 was at Jurong East Avenue 1, just before turning into Jurong Town Hall Road, I thought I saw a Scania KUB bus with the words "OFF SERVICE" going pass the bus 185 and turning right onto Jurong Town Hall Road towards Chinese Garden.
If that was a bus trying out the possible extended route of 49, then I think the extension would be like this (to/from Lakeside MRT station):
Jurong West Street 51, Avenue 1, Street 42, Avenue 1, Jurong East Avenue 1, Jurong Town Hall Road,
if the extension takes the shortest possible route to Jurong East Bus Interchange, this might be the route after Jurong Town Hall Road:
Jurong Town Hall Road, Boon Lay Way, Jurong Gateway Road, Jurong East Bus Interchange.
Or,
it could ply straight on Jurong Town Hall Road towards the Science Centre, then ply Jurong East Central, Jurong Gateway Road, and terminate at Jurong East Bus Interchange.

Don't think it's 49 because 49 is supposed to be Jurong East to Hong Kah via Tamah Jurong, not the other way round

I believe 49 will be extended from Yuan Ching Road to Jurong East
