Someone saw SG0000W plying 143 route near toa poyah . I wish it was 66 instead . I have travelled on 143 route and theres some very tight turns that even a 12M bus finds it hard already let it say 12.8m bus . So I really like to see how this plan out .
sg5999 already inoperation 143 today ???? there are picture in some guys facebook showing it at toa payoh lor6 turn into the interchange with TT logo
The 12.8m got tag axle and the BC just need to be more focus on the radius he is turning..Cmon la,Its not 14.5m
Its on training for 41,78,106,143 & 189 routes until 19th March la dey..At least TTS select more BCs to drive rather than GAS BYD which only 4 BCs are trained so😤
These new SMRT buses are quite capable of ferrying more commuters relatively fast. I would say that it is justifiable to replace the older buses.

There are pro and cons

Exempted right?
The LTA has began testing three-door buses today, to test its feasibility on our roads. The first bus is on Tower Transit bus service 143.
Feasibility test duration is 6 months.

So where is the 3 door Alexander Dennis DD? Still rotting with no engine? So will it be tested on revenue service while being towed?
In addition, SMRT will introduce a three-door Single Decker bus, from the second quarter of this year. Test route shall involve residential areas and commercial areas. Route number will be announced later.

2nd Quarter you will see the A22 three doors with SMRT..No prize for guessing which depot.Meanwhile SBST & GAS still joyfully with their exclusive Citaro and B9TL

I suspect after it got the engine will goes to either TTS or SMRT also,SBST & GAS no standard to trial those kind of buses

No mention of ADL at all in any of the news reports. Sadly, ADL may have lost it.
Not good news at all to our bus fares if STK is the only supplier. CNA is quoting a premium of 15% per unit.
I already have a question for LTA:
Why custom-made a three-door bus, when there are already three-door buses in the market?
(Custom-made bus costs more money. Those already in the market is cheaper because the production cost is spread over more buses; economies of scale.)
Especially the single-decker bus. As far as I know, bus manufacturer "MAN" offers the third door option for single-decker bus.
Personally, I feel that the second staircase and third door design of the MAN double-decker concept bus is messy. They should have chosen the other design, where the second staircase and third door are at the back of the bus.
Also, must it be longer than regular bus?

Yup it is exempted..

Because its political...STK is under Temasxx even though the bus cost over $600k and ADL $490k
LTA should awarded MAN and Yutong/Mercedes-Benz rather than ADL of they didnt want to invest here.
