maybe should post your "routes" in another thread and make it "bigger"
well wait for next year
What happened to the Punggol - Tampines route? dupdup, do you have information?
I suspect they are waiting for Changi Business Park Terminal and Tampines Interchange extension to be ready to launch new services in east.

- New trunk Service 983: Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange to Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5
- Amendment of feeder Service 300 to skip Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5

- Service 982E to call at additional bus stops
much better haha
just that ave 5 residents/students who wants to go to schools at ave 4 will take 983, not a feeder bus alrdy
oh well, cant please everybody though
as for future extension of 983, i think the route will go keat hong close (call one of the pair bus-stops at roundabout > ave 6 > ave 1 > cck way > cck rd all the way to BPJ
for return leg, cck rd > cck way > cck ave 1 > ave 6 > keat hong close (call the other one of the pair bus-stops) > ave 5 > ave 4 > int

Hi mr busanalyser, it disappeared without a trace. Shit. The rumours make all of us excited and then suddenly no more. Few days back, I still saw the yellow labelling on the bus panel at the bus berth besides sbs 50 berth at Punggol interchange being cleared off. That one is supposedly for the NEL mrt free shuttle bus. It is being taken out and being replaced. I thought it will be the berth for the new sbs 164. But it seems I was wrong now. Cheers.
In my opinion, personally, I feel that there may be a possibility that bus route 983 will be extended again, after it is extended to Bukit Panjang MRT Station, because even with the extension to Bukit Panjang, the trunk route is only around 10km. Since the number of parking lots at Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange is limited and there may be at least one more new bus route orginating from there in future, I personally think that there is a likelihood that bus route 983 may be re-routed to originate from Bukit Panjang, and at least loop around Choa Chu Kang MRT Station area.
Originally posted by p228:I feel that those staying at the junction between Ave 5 and Ave 4, may cross the road and walk to Ave 4 and take 300 instead. Cheaper than 983 in the long run.
well, it really depends on which bus stop is nearest to them. the distance on route 301 from bus stop #44551 at Ave 5 to Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange is around 2.4km, whereas the distance on route 983 from bus stop #44559 at Ave 5 to Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange is around 1.6km. Like Primary school NAPFA test walk/run and Secondary school NAPFA test walk/run.
2.4km is the same as taking route 243W from bus stop #27411 at Jurong West Street 81 to Boon Lay Bus Interchange (2.4km).
a very similar case study is actually blk 271-272 at Jurong West Avenue 3. There are two bus routes to Boon Lay Bus Interchange, namely 181 and 199. However, the journey on 181 to Boon Lay Bus Interchange is 2.5km, while the journey on 199 to Boon Lay Bus Interchange is 1.7km.
well, they can walk to Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4 to take route 300. However, the walking distance is around 300m.
983: 1.6km
301: 2.4km
983 is more for connecting to MRT Downtown Line next year.
Why do I have a feeling that people may run across the road when they see 983 coming? Maybe after a while the authorities may want to install zebra crossing or traffic light there to ensure road safety.
Anyway, I hope nobody is foolish enough to take 983 go one big round at Keat Hong Close and go to CCK bus interchange, because the distance would then be around 2.7km.
Distance wise, 301 is like 243W. Demographics wise, 301 is like 242. Well, at least this is what I think, in my opinion.

well, with concession pass, it does not matter to school students if the bus is trunk or feeder. Likewise for the people using the off-peak concession pass, the $120 concession pass, the elderly concession pass, and the other concession passes available in the market.
what really matters, in my opinion, is the frequency. If the rider-ship on route 983 at Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4/5 turns out to be high, I think there may be short-working trips, similar to route 98 at Jurong West.
whereas for the suggestion for route 983 to extend to Bukit Panjang, maybe it is better if from CCK Avenue 1, after the market, turn to Ave 7 and ply along Keat Hong Link, then continue on to CCK Way. because CCK Avenue 7 and Keat Hong Link next time will have more residential developments, which very likely will be HDB flats.
Good changes but this slight modification could have been done immediately and didn't need to wait for 2+ months to rollout these services.
Regarding the ridership, I think CCK ave 2/3/4/5 residents should now have good relief.
300 - expect major loading to be between ave 4 and mrt
301 - expect major loading to be between ave 2 and mrt
983 - expect 983 to have the best loading among the three services as it is fastest to mrt from ave 5 and on ave 4, if it comes before sv 300, 983 will be packed to door.
Ave 3 residents will have to rely on 975/975A to get to MRT. Earlier proposed 301 now no more available. Though 300 is still there but take longer to MRT.
Did anyone notice there is no more bus stop at keat hong close. Doesn't even make sense coz flats ready only in 2016-2017.
983 extend to loop at Marsiling better..Bt Panjang can introduce a new svc to Airport.
got changes from the revise in feb meh? 983 is totally redundant from what it is now...and i agree that it should start at BPJ and loop at CCK. Now CCK INT already congested, no hope for new service at YewTee area already...

BPJ might be the saviour introducing new svc plying or looping at CCK till its get new ITHs
no changes at all.
983 should extend to Bt Gombak mrt via Ave 6 and Brickland Rd to relief the load at CCK mrt.

I thought that is what it is happening, and hence the delay in rolling out the services as they need to plan the new route to Gambok. But 983 remains same. Just 300/301 changed a bit to accommodate ave 5 and ave 2 link.

what do u mean by no more?
i took 300 few days ago & i saw the pair of bus-stops at the mini loop area of keat hong close
Most likely 301 will be amended to ply Keat Hong Close before turning to CCK Ave 6 when the flats there are ready.

What if there is something else in the works, that will ply Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3... ? It could be a new bus route, a new bus route amendment, or even a new MRT line (if you know what I mean).
Anyway, the public transport connectivity at Bukit Gombak is okay what... Bukit Gombak is only around half of Bukit Batok. If there is an area in Bukit Gomak that lacks bus connection to Bukit Gombak MRT, it's probably just the area along Bukit Batok West Avenue 2. But then again, isn't there around five bus services there coming from Bukit Batok Bus Interchange area? Isn't there already feeder bus 947?
CCK is clasterfark,Need a terminal or bigger ITHs in future..
CCK will be extremely congested, i rather 982 start from BPJ enter Teck Whye, CCK and loop at Yew Tee. It can help relieve the load of BPS1 and cater Yew Tee residents to svc like 190 to town
one possible reason why nothing much is done at Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Batok area could be because the authorities may be waiting for Tengah to be developed, then build a new bus interchange there.
actually, if the situation is already bad enough, why not just build an interim Tengah Bus Interchange, at Choa Chu Kang or Bukit Gombak?
alternatively, we can continue to use the Bukit Panjang bus park even after Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange opens, to relieve Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang Bus Interchanges.
